LeBron James Reportedly Expected to Influence Cavaliers' Free-Agency Spending

They could not sign Rondo as they don't have the cap space

I thought Lebron and Love go off the books when they opt out. They then can resign AFTER others are signed. If they sign deals first, others can't be signed cause a team can only go over the cap to sign their own players.

Or am I wrong on that?

You simply forgot about the cap hold Love and Lebron will have. Their salary will still count against the cap with a cap hold until they resigned with another team or with the Cavs.

You have the bird rights to lebron so you could go over the cap to resign him.

But to sign Rondo you would need a sign and trade. Per CBA you can't sign a player outright if you don't have the cap space.

:lol::lol:

you is right dawg rondos head look like a giant pill :lmfao2:

Don't it?!

Head ass nigga

Cavs gonna win next year. They'll have Lebron, Mosgov, Verajao, and Thompson...they'll keep shump..and kyrie obviously (and possibly Love) rest of those muthafuckas are gone and they'll going to fill that squad with role players that can contribute. So they're going to have front line depth and size...perimeter defense..and offense.. just need a shooter and another athletic wing off the bench

Yep

Theyre gonna destroy teams too. people are forgetting that lebron was playing with a team where he was the only starter left from opening night..that's it..and they were still 2 games away from championship. They're going to run through teams next year.

Yeah man. If the Cavs stay healthy next year it's a wrap. Hell, if Kyrie and Love were healthy this year, they would have swept the warriors.

They could not sign Rondo as they don't have the cap space. Nor could they sign Carroll because of cap space

Man what are you talking about?

Let's say they bring but they same exact team, but Marion retires...

That's cap space straight off the muscle right there...

Also we have to keep in mind what teams belong to what owners...

Marion is gone. James Jones is gone. Mike Miller is gone. JR Smith just said he's opting out. Lebron is a free agent so he'll do what's necessary to get the team championship-ready. Oh.. they're gonna be able to sign free agents. And you'll have vets (like with Miami) that will come who really want a chance to play for a title.

You think Rondo would play for the VET min?

The Cavs do not have cap space to sign any free agents unless they are for the Vet min.

Turd. They don't have shit but 4-5 players on contract for next season. They have 25M coming off the books and that doesn't include JR so just said he's opting out. So that's 31M coming off the books. And in 2016, they only have 27M on the books.

That's why I'm tripping when dude said they won't have cap space.
Like hell they won't,

These would be my first two calls...

Mo Williams
Gerald Green

That's after I finish my in house stuff, L. Aldridge is part of that in house stuff also.
I was about to say, I'm making a call to see if that statement was true soon as free agency start, if so David Griffin got some work to do. After I thought about it, he shouldve already had that convo.

Ummm probably not, but for them he's worth more than that.
But Mo Williams, would slide in perfect, combo guard he's been a gamer at times, former James running mate

Guess everybody don't play attention to team contacts and front office dealings...

By the way where's Killa, this our time of the year?

You are forgetting about the cap hold for those players. Even if a player is not under contract their is a salary cap hold that is placed on the team for their current salary.

And it's no guarantee free agents want to go to fuckin Cleveland... They will go to Miami before they touch Cleveland with Bron there and all...

Wiz, heat, Bulls , Hawks will improve

I just replied above. I don't think they keep Love though. I think Love walks and they use the money to resign Thompson and add another shooter. They Mosgov, Thompson, and Verajeo....they won't need Love's rebounding.

They'll also trade Brendan Haywood's $10 million non-guaranteed contract.

LeBron set his contract to opt out for CBA negotiations.

No way in hell he won't exercise that player option next season when he can lose almost 10 million a year on a long-term deal

By the way where's Killa, this our time of the year?

I learned alot about NBA contracts and free agency from the Miami Heat as we went through this every off season with the Big 3.

There are two things very important when it comes to signing players and that is "Bird Rights" and "Cap holds"

Marions cap hold will fall off because he is officially retiring. (Submitting Paperwork) so his salary will not be charged to the Cavs overall cap

If JR Smith ops out, the Cavs would be charged with a Cap hold for JR's salary even tho he is not under contract. The Same would go for Miller and others who contract is expiring in July.

For example...if the Cavs salary cap was $100 and JR Smith and Millers contract took up $30 dollars the Cavs would only have $70 to spend as the Cap holds for JR and Miller would be charged to the team.

Remember you can't sign a player outright if you don't have the cap space. So if Rondo' contract was $31 the Cavs would not have the cap space to sign him because of the cap holds for Miller and JR. Now if they signed with a new team those cap holds would be freed up.

If a teams owns a players bird right they could sign a player for that $30, which would put them at the limit of their cap of $100. If you own the players bird right you could then be allowed to go over that $100 cap and resign JR and miller

Indeed, Love saw his points, rebounds and assists per game all decrease fairly dramatically, while his minutes per contest also declined.

yet dudes on here want to act like if they had Love they would have beat the Dubbs lol....

They're not. That's why he is going to leave.

I'll said this somewhere else and I'll say it again...I want Love to stay for one simple reason...

He's choose to come to Cleveland, there's been others but really wasn't game changers, like him on paper.

Look at the ripple affect, Aldridge camp stated he'll be open to going to Cleveland if Love leave and they could work out a sign and trade with Portland.

I doubt he'll make it to the Cavs, giving they have to pay TT and probably he want more than what Love would get....but time will tell

He would've help, but Uncle Drew was really missed, I ain't tripping on his scoring...but ball handling would've changed things slightly...

yeah Kyrie and his scoring ability is what was really missed IMO, Love would have been a cog in the offense IMO. LeBron will be back next year, the East sucks. Maybe Washington will challenge but I don't really see it now.

Looking at your possible salary cap giving love the max is not an issue.

I know you have the bird rights for T Thompson and Lebron but can you find out if you have the bird rights for Jr smith and love? Remember in my post earlier, bird rights allow a team to go over the cap to resign players.

How it works is relatively simple. With those players opting out or contract expiring the cavs could sign free agents up to their teams salary cap limit. Even tho they would be at their cap limit the bird rights would allow for them to go over the cap limit to sign Jr, thompson, love and Lebron back. But you free agents must sign first before you could resign love, Jr, Thompson and lebron

Center -mozgoz, Veraja so you are good their
Power Forward - love, Thompson, lebron (very good depth)
Small Forward - Lebron (need depth)
SG- Jr Smith,Shump (good depth)
PG- kyrie.

So the cavs really need to address the PG and Small forward position. At PG Norris Cole would be a realistic free agent option

Norris Cole would be excellent, in your face defender type
I like Mo Williams also, just another offensive threat

Small forward Gerald Green would be excellent

Kyrie, Williams
Shum, Jr
Lebron, Green
Love, Thompson
Movgov, Andy

The only problems is 4 out if the ten are very injury prone.

So that's why, I'm going with Mo Williams before Cole World.
This is a very realistic doable roster, not even count the other 5 spots.

Say the bring back for whatever reason
Perkins
Jones
Miller

That still leave two open slots...

With my above line up, I would really like this to happen.

Lebron, Willams
Kyrie,Jr
Green, Shum
Love, TT
Movgov, Andy

I think this address any issue, for as depth, play making, outside scoring, attack the rim, defense outside and inside...
Might even spare Kyrie somewhat

Love would help with his passing, along with him moving better than James Jones on switches.

They could've keep Lebron away from 4 or 5 with Love there during small ball.
