How to create a 3Delight Shadow Catcher in DAZ Studio
Sometimes we need to render images that include shadows without objects to cast them on. In multi-pass rendering for example, where we may have a background and would like to render a figure separa…www.versluis.com
Man I love Daz. Just when I think I need to jump ship to Blender, I ALWAYS find a solution to my problem in DAZ.
Blender is attractive! Their animation tools are amazing. But I STILL have found a way to do everything I need to do in DAZ. mCasual Scripts need to be implemented into DAZ permanently because his scripts make Daz a more complete program with powerful animation tools. Still, Blender's animation tools are easier.
I have been using Blender for certain tasks like UV unwrapping and decimation, but I just know Daz too well and don't have time to start from scratch in another program. And Blender IS the superior program, but I'm just used to DAZ. It's like Garage Band vs. Logic, but if Garage Band had all these plugins and scripts that made you be able to do the same shit Logic can do....
With Blender, the animation tools, toon shaders, grease pencil, and real time shading makes me want to jump ship BUT, Daz's line rendering??? is SICK!!! And I have Line Renderer 9000 so I can do some really detailed work with line art. I checked out Blender's line rendering options and I wasn't that impressed. Maybe I'm missing something?
As far as photorealism is concerned, I see no difference between Daz and Blender renders. Fake humans still look like fake humans unless you do a really good job with the design.
Plus I plan on getting more into Carrara. That's a slept on program. I've seen some dope comic book stuff rendered out of Carrara, like this:

I love this guy. Have a few of his vids. Neva saw this one. My life just changed for the better. All I do is multi pass and put shit together in photoshop but I ain't neva used this canvas shit. This makes multi pass SO much easier. For instance the Egyptian queen crown on the character that looks like Lupita. I cannot render that shit with the character. COmputer crashes. Have to render her naked. Then render the dress. Then render the crown. Pain in the ass.
But this is dope because Canvas doesn't render the back of the clothes or hair. Now I'm wondering can I use this with scenes that I have that I can't render at all like cyberpunk city blocks. If I could break them shits up like that maybe I could render them shits.
Good stuff.
Most are rendered at 612 x 792 pixels. Comic panels are all different sizes.
Try this,
Parameters Window
Genesis 8 Female > General > Mesh Resolution
Change the Render SubD Level to 1. That will make the render go a lil quicker. Unless you want the character to be super high res, Level 1 is virtually indistinguishable from Level 2.
