CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Well-traveled Larry Brown has reached an agreement to return to the NBA as coach of the Charlotte Bobcats, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Monday.

The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not been made, said Brown was expected to sign a contract on Tuesday. The Bobcats have called an afternoon news conference for what they termed a "major basketball announcement."

coach brown has ties to NC, so why not?

Way too unstable, he alienates and trashes his players in the media, lobbies for jobs while on the job. He's the TO of coaching to me. They lookin for this guy to come in and be the saviour, but as soon as he dont get his way with management he's gonna bounce. I wanted us to get someone who's gonna be around longer than 2 years.

I wish them success. Because I like some of the players, and I certainly want the black owned franchise to do well (don't really care about Mike), but this is only a stop gap solution at best

Better for them to work on getting a healthy 10 man squad than getting an overpaid coach

Rarely does the "Perfect Scenario" present itself. Of course you would like to have (1) coach come in and nurture a group of young players to success over the next few years. You would like for all their draft picks to workout, and be able to sign good free agents....while everyone stays healthy.

But the Bobcats are actually making the best play based on their current options.

Larry Brown is a good bet. He has a track record of getting the most of mediocre talent. If Brown can get the Bobcats to the playoffs within the next 3 years that will be fine. Think of how much more $$$ the organization will be valued if they become a playoff team.

Plus FREE AGENTS will be more inclined to sign with the Bobcats.... if they can become a playoff team in the East.

Cranrab should be happy because in a 4 hour period the number of Euro players in the playoffs has declined exponentially.
