Since Ill be using it for gaming every now and then, based on the specs of these laptops, which one is the best deal? The only thing that bothers me about the U530 is the graphics card and the fact that it doesn't have a dvd drive. Ahhhhh these decisions are taking a toll on me. :hmm:

You'll want to go with the i7-4700MQ, it's the only quad-core of the three you listed. The U at the end indicates it's more for ultrabooks so it's going to sacrifice performance for battery life. That's why the i7-4500U is actually dual-core, plus there's no dedicated graphics card.

I actually bought the Lenovo U430 (i5-4200U) myself last month but I don't do any gaming whatsoever.

Like it alot, 14" was the only screen size I considered after having a 13.3. Even though it's aluminum, it's easy to open up and work on. Much more so than my 3 year old Sony that died in Jan. Plus I get at least 5.5 hours on a charge.

I've never really been into computer gaming, even with all the PCs I have around my house. I may play some stuff on the Store but that's rare. I'm more into console gaming but don't have alot of time for it nowadays.

your other thread needs to be merged...

yeha im not even used to windows 8 and apparently the U30 (the first one i mentioned) is unable to run anything besides windows 8. The last 2 i mentioned with higher specs allow me to run 7 if i want to. Still not sure if the u530 will be good for gaming though w that graphics card...

Win 8 isn't that big of a deal. I hated using the tiled desktop so I downloaded Start8 and it's back to looking like 7. All the other changes in 8 just make it a more refined Win 7 IMO.

Thanks a1. I guess my decision is made. I wish I coul get a better discount though...although the price seems to be pretty good. A little bit over 850. I initially ordered a refurbed u530 but figured for a couple hundred bucks more id have a decent laptop for a few years so why not get quality...
