Lakers to Mike Brown: "Thanks for playing."

Only part I feel bad about somewhat is Mike Brown is going to have a hard time getting another shot at head coach after getting canned like this.

Beyond that, didnt like the hire from the start. Brown is/was kind of goofy.

Somebody get that high chair ready & warm up Phillips hip

A little turbulent in LALA land. The Lakers are in the pressure cooker with Sterling's Clippers team looking prime for a championship run.

Re: fakers to Mike Brown: "Thanks for playing."

Mitch Kupchak speaking on NBA TV.

jim hill threw mitch kupchak a curveball and forced him to say "it was odd"

you see how pissed mitch kupchak got when he heard pau gasol commented on the firing?

this.

one thing that the floor seaters will not stand for is the lakers being second best in la...this ties into the steve blake thread a couple days ago...jerry b has to keep the big dollar fans happy. egos at stake. thousands for floor seats...the fans want a show or they won't go. mike brown wasn't going to cut it. showtime, rings, bling. the end

superficial...but that is los angeles :dunno:

Kobe (bitch, snitch, all for self, and not a good teammate)

Metta World Peace (O.H.M.D = other health mental disorder)

pau gasol (Kobe told his business to his ex and she told it to his girlfriend. He don't trust kobe.So he really don't want to be in LA)

dwight howard (power forward who is playing the 5 spot.He also has a bad back.)

steve nash (He can't run the ball like he did 10 years ago.He is out of touch with the LA game)

LA isn't going to the finals with this team. It's a done deal!

Interestingly enough, LA winning so many championships is the result of fair weather fans. Hell, GREAT weather fans.

If LA would support the team no matter what, I doubt management would be so committed to keeping the team highly competitive.

I wonder why this doesn't happen in NYC? More money in NYC, huge market, and NYC is much more of a sports city than LA.

Funny how this guy was winning 60games a year and going to the finals with Lebron and Boobie fuckin Gibson but gets to LA with a team loaded with talent and...... :dunno:

Like former Laker, Magic Johnson, said (and I paraphrase)..."...Former Cleveland head coach, Mike Brown was a bad (and wrong ) hire for the Lakers in the first place". The Los Angeles Lakers is a 'SHOWTIME' TEAM. That's what the owners, FANBASE, and players desire. That's what they want and need! If you were to ask former Laker --and fired---head coach, Paul Westhead, he would utter similar comments. Former Laker personnel--starting with the Pat Riley coaching era-- would shout their desires.

Replacement? Why not Dantoni(spelling)? He's available. The only caveat? His lack of 'defense expertise'. Well, hell, nobody's perfect.

the lakeshow have ony won ONE game since may of this year. lost all preseason games and four outta five of the regular so i ain't surprised. sad for dude. but not surprised. but i do wonder if the 'princeton offense' was pushed by kobe or the coach. cause they didn't play it last season. it was brand new. so why push it THIS year when it didn't play to your strengths?

the lakers hired BROWN to coach, not kobe. i think dude was to much of a fan so to speak as opposed to coach. dude went on tv sayin stuff like 'kobe ALLOWS me to coach him' and 'i learn a lot from him'. that sheit couldn't have sit well with the ownership who thought they hired a defensive expert and locker room leader

easy.

la is hollywood. in every way.
weather. beaches. movie stars. everything.

image.

and...many people here are not from here, not natives. so the glamour factor is paramount...the fans are loyal to winners. once you start losing or get the perception as a loser...:itsawrap:

the clippers couldn't get arrested when they moved here. but now the added star power + early season winning...we can already see the mood of the city changing around here

buss has always been about the show. he knows los angeles, and the los angeles laker fan. they will smile in your face when you are winning but will turn on you in a heartbeat if you aren't winning. no table at spago for you!

and don't get it twisted...jerry is about his poker, his liquor, his women, and his paper. he doesn't have the energy to run the show anymore but sonny has botched it so he had to step in...something had to be done

never a dull moment around here

Lebron lost a Finals with Mo Williams as his second player, and a Finals with Dwyane Wade as his second player.

How do you explain him losing in the Finals, against a team whose star was inferior to him, and probably inferior to his second guy?

OBVIOUSLY it's a more complex issue than you want it to be.

But, of course, anything to drive your point home, I suppose.

Thats not exactly superficial as it is spoiled.

The Lakers have been to the NBA Finals 16 times since 1979 & won 10 NBA titles . No other club has had this type of success in ANY PRO SPORT over this period of time.

Lakers fans are spoiled rotten. If you are under 35 ,you have rarely even seen NBA playoffs without the Lakers in it. They have missed the post season twice in 30-35 years. That averages out to about a 50% chance the Lakers are in the NBA Finals over the last 30 years. The fans who pay top dollar expect a winner.

 The good doctor always delivers.

They don't trust him, so I don't even know why they hired him in the first place. A coach with no rings has no place coaching the Lakers. I'm surprised he lasted this long.

Definitely the wrong man for the job. He wasn't going to last anyway because he isn't that good of a coach. Average at best. Should have just fired him end of last season.
But this firing is inexcusable and downright ridiculous by Lakers ownership. 5 games in? Give him till late December at least to see if his system works and get all his players back healthy.

The idea was probably broached by ex Washington Wizard head coach Eddie Joedan, and sanctioned by Mike Brown. While Jordan did have some success with that type of offense, its style was NOT fit for the lakers.....contrary ot what Jim Buss said in his 'KISS OF DEATH' verbal embrace given to Brown yesterday!

Boston is not close in the last 3 decades

Fam...I'm a Lakers fan, and hate the Celtics with a passion. but they still won in the 80's

81, 84, 86...:hmm:

So the last 3 decades talk is a stretch :hmm:

And yes, ever since then, the Lakers have had more success.

At this juncture Bron is better than Malone and got 1 more ring than him too

Good Analogy "Karl Malone" with handles and vision. That's the best compliment a player can ever get. But on a different note fuck Karl Malone. Just had to get that out.

9 Finals & 5 titles in those same 80's

How many did bill win in a row?

How many did he win as a head coach and a player?

You over 50 years old ? Speaking to recent NBA history since the merger.

Not arguing overall success ,initial post was about how spoiled Lakers fans are & why. Its the recent success. The prices reflect that, also fan & media sentiment reflect it.

If the the Lakers top 4 picks are Phil Jackson, Brian Shaw, Nate MacMillan and Mike D'Antoni, I say they go for them in that order, without D'Antoni on the list. Magic Johnson is asking for Jeff VanGundy. :smh:
