Ladies Groupon on the 1st Date???

i have absolutely no problem with this. Theres stuff on there in my city that I didn't know were options, so if you get to show me something new and prove that you're good with money, its ok in my book.

What the hell is a groupon?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupon

Groupon (a portmanteau derived from "group coupon") is a deal-of-the-day website that features discounted gift certificates usable at local or national companies. Groupon was launched in November 2008, and the first market for Groupon was Chicago, followed soon thereafter by Boston, New York City, and Toronto. By October 2010 Groupon served more than 150 markets[clarification needed] in North America and 100 markets in Europe, Asia and South America and had 35 million registered users.[4][5][6][7]
The idea for Groupon was created by current CEO and Pittsburgh native[8] Andrew Mason.[9] The idea subsequently gained the attention of his former employer, Eric Lefkofsky, who provided $1 million in "seed money" to develop the idea. In April 2010, the company was valued at $1.35 billion.[10] According to a December 2010 report conducted by Groupon's marketing association and reported in Forbes Magazine and the Wall Street Journal, Groupon was "projecting that the company is on pace to make $1 billion in sales faster than any other business, ever".[8] However, a report from Forrester Research in October 2011 suggested that the Groupon business model was a "disaster" and that the firm had become an example of "how fast an Internet darling can fall."[11]
In its first earnings release as a public company, Groupon reported a fourth-quarter 2011 loss of $9.8 million on an adjusted basis, disappointing investors.[12] Additional investor concern arose after the company restated 2011 revenues downward in March 2012.[13]

I did not listen to the whole broadcast, but I see no problem with it, and in fact would mention it to her ahead of time, "Oh, I have this Groupon for this (restaurant, museum, club, trip, [whatever]) I was thinking of checking out, would you like to accompany me?"

Isn't the purpose of Groupon to get people to try a new restaurant, bar, hotel, etc., they may have been interested in, but may be a bit wary because of the cost and concern that they may not like it?

That woman was lucky to have been taken to a restaurant on the 1st date (Blind date in fact), most of the time you first meet a woman it may be at a bar for a drink, or even just the local Starbucks...

Nah you been in your mode. I'm bein about mines. You need to be about urs.

Aight.

I have no problem with it personally I love living social I think the deals are better.

Cool.

Yeah, seems like that's the purpose of it.

What city are you in? Do you have a twin? Want to move north? :D We need to have more women who think like you in New York City . . .

Damn Pecan, maybe you and the other ladies could start giving etiquette/dating pointers to some of these disillusioned and uninformed sisters (and yes Men need it too) out in the world . . .

Some people just don't seem to understand. Its not so much about what one spends on the other, its about what experiences we can share together. If Groupon means doing more with less money this should be a no brainer. The savings are significant and usually at some pretty nice locations.

Its a better deal than the Entertainment Book, you have to buy that.

Cheap? Why should I be entitled to pay for a meal to a stranger? Your ass Pay for self and keep it real. NO WOMAN'S beauty gonna fuel her way to a free hot plate. You can't even give me a reason as to WHY you're a entitled..... I mean a GOOD reason.....

Yes it is and more established places are joining Groupon. They have great savings everyday. Plus its an inducement to try spots you probably wouldn't try.

I dont have an issue with dude trying to save if he is genuine about it ... I just think guys are doing this to be cheap cuz they dont want to put out much cuz they think we arent worth it

Glad people are replying, but have any of you actually listened to the podcast? The date situation that this is about is pretty early in the conversation, so it's not like you have to wait on it too long. If you haven't heard it, check it out. I'd like to hear what ya'll think of what they said specifically about Kev using the coupon and the woman's reaction to it.

^^^^^ Its not even that we dont think you're worth it..... We just dont know IF you're worth anything.

I aint mad because I'm not paying for your shit! I dont know you to be mad LOL..... You cant even troll right. You got a man telling you how it is and you try to deflect it with jokes.... You're just as bad as alot of the dudes on the main boards and probably even worse. Hell YOU MIGHT BE one of the male regulars on the main board posing as a woman.... Either way its the equal amount of childishness. Grown folks dont get mad at that, ..... Thats the sign of a woman with no substance to reply with. And at this point I'll just digress from replying. You have no true conversation with me or with that matter I'll assume any man with a slight degree of substance.

I'll just let you type and continue to expose the lack of substance.

If the woman was smart she would appreciate a man that knows how to be resourceful and is good with his money! But then again, hoes these days...

Although I probably wouldn't use a groupon on a first date, I won't knock any man who does, or any woman willing to accept that. My only thing is IF I were going to do that, I''d let her know about it ahead of time. I'd mention the groupon to her while we were planning the date. That way she knows the deal ahead of time and can choose to agree to it, or not.

Sheeeeeit that's awesome. A man that can find good deals on his own is after my heart I'd be impressed. Makes no sense to pay full price for anything nowadays especially when it's so much stuff you can get online to make it a fraction of the cost.

Thats basically the same thing I was saying lol It aint about saving, its about not wanting to spend much on a woman
^^^^^ Exactly

Its only one female in this thread thats on the high school shit and one dude co-signing. I guess they're meant to be.

I'm now seeing that I need to recognize who's saying what before I reply. I honestly hope they have more sense than what they have.

I'm trying to listen to this thing and I think I'm missing half of the conversation. I got everything on 100% and all I hear is mumbles except for the loud ass dude...

No groupon in the t-dot? what about living social?

CT explained what it is but what wiki don't tell you is that its FUCKING AWESOME. Since its October theres a lot of beer tours popping up for Atlanta. They even have some for trips and short getaways too.

What city are you in? Do you have a twin? Want to move north? :D We need to have more women who think like you in New York City . . .

See Mo up above...saving money is a big factor but I've ate and done things at places that I wonder what my life would have been like if I had known about it earlier. At this point I don't know how I went to the movies before without eating a BBQ burger and strawberry lemonade.

I wouldn't mention it. Especially if a dude takes me to a place I've never seen before I'm going to ask him how did he learn about this place. If he tells me groupon, living social, open table, coupons.com - I'm not going to care. Long as the food was good and the conversation was on point and we had fun, I don't understand why it would be an issue to be discussed.

It goes to show that he's a thinking man who knows how to be resourceful.
