Kyrie Irving requesting trade out of Cleveland to find bigger role

So, they are bending over backward for a Dude who is gone after this season, AND is on the wrong side of his prime to get rid of a stud who is 8 years younger and entering his prime?!?!?! Another L by the Cavs in my opinion. LeBrons ass would have to have dealt with playing with Kyrie until I found a suitable deal, and also, it was not Kyrie who went public, he went to management as he should have and word is, LeBrons camp leaked this shit to the public...

IT just turned 28. he's still young. There is a 3 year difference between them

And yes.... they're going to cater to lebron in that situation.. every team would... Kyrie is just a star... Lebron is one of the goats..even w/ the 8 year difference... aint nobody saying.. OK. Lebron..we're sticking with Kyrie, you gotta bounce  Kyrie aint THAT good.

it was mishandled by all those involved... anyone could have leaked that Kyrie shit.. even Billups said it was common knowledge that Kyrie wasn't happy... supposedly he got tight when he heard he was involved in the possible Paul George deal

Cleveland did right to move forward and get them behind h
When you start qualifying moves with the words 'At Least', your actually telling yourself they fucked up... You don't take 50 on the dollar just because he wanted out though. Like I said, players ask for trades all the time. Now, they can end up with Crowder and the draft in exchange for a stud PG in his prime. This will be regretted as early as mid season, and I guarantee you LeBron is bitching about personnel before the New Year... Mark my words! Bad trade for the Cavs good brother... :smh:
lebron always cry about needing help. when has he not?

Kyrie wanted out man

I think he's not fully appreciating this. Kyrie really wanted out of there...this ain't the nfl ...
Unless they grab 1 or 2 and get Porter or Bagley, this will be a disaster for them because no one else in the top 5 is remotely comparable to losing Kyrie for... :smh:

Kyrie can opt out in 2019 so not like the Cavs had him locked up long term.. it's 1 year for IT and 2 years for Irving.. it's not a swap for one pick.

Yep not to mention if everyone hasn't noticed it seems like teams are hesitant to give up tooooo much for these players because now you have times where the player isn't willing to commit to the team long term and they don't want to trade the farm for a guy they may only have a year or two

As of now the Celtics have Kyrie for this year and next year and that's it

People say the Pacers didn't get enough for Paul George but shit he isn't signing any extensions

was just saying the same shit.. not like Kyrie had hella years left...he can opt out in 2019

I think he's not fully appreciating this. Kyrie really wanted out of there...this ain't the nfl ...

Kyrie can opt out in 2019 so not like the Cavs had him locked up long term.. it's 1 year for IT and 2 years for Irving.. it's not a swap for one pick.
You get at least an additional year from a superior player. Plus, LeBron leaves and Kyrie may reup... 2 years of Kyrie >>>> 1 year IT...

Cavs had no choice but to take this trade. Swear Lebron digs his own holes with his fuckery. He did it last time he was here. Fuck would Kyrie or ANY superstar want to play these '1- year and gone' bullshit every fucking offseason with someone you supposed to be building with? All this passive-aggressive shit Lebron pulls would drive any star crazy. And then there's the Gilbert/Bron power play.

I don't blame Kyrie one bit for wanting out of this toxic ass environment.

At least the fans got a chip out of this. Cavs should be back as sacrificial lambs in the 2018 finals.

How Kyrie Irving trade affects Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James and Isaiah Thomas - NBA
by Bobby Marks on 2017-08-12 17:16:00 UTC (original: http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/sto...land-cavaliers-lebron-james-isaiah-thomas-nba)

The Cleveland Cavaliers shook up their present and future by trading Kyrie Irvingto the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.

How does the deal help Cleveland if LeBron James stays or leaves as a free agent in 2018? What will the Cavs offer Isaiah Thomas next summer? Are more moves on the way?

Let's answer the big questions following the trade.

How does this trade affect Cleveland's luxury tax situation and financial flexibility this season?

The Cavaliers still have the top luxury tax bill in the NBA, but the trade brings considerable savings. Cleveland had a league-high $78.4 million tax bill before the deal. That will drop to $49.3 million, a savings of $29.1 million.

Scraped at insider2text.xyz, brought to you by HeheStreams — No ads, No Bullshit Live & On-Demand NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL Streaming

The reduction in the Cavaliers' tax bill will likely cost each of the 24 non-taxpaying teams $500K. Teams under the tax will receive 50 percent of the tax pool evenly distributed. Combined with the Trail Blazers' salary dump of Allen Crabbe in July, those 24 non-tax teams could lose $1.5 million in two moves this summer.

How does this trade help Cleveland's future if LeBron stays?

The Cavaliers' luxury tax bill next summer could possibly mirror the $78.4 million price tag that was on the books before the Irving trade. If James and Iman Shumpert (player option) return, Cleveland will have $123 million in guaranteed salaries -- before Isaiah Thomas is inked to a new contract and not factoring in the Nets' 2018 first-round pick plus filling out the roster. Shumpert opting out of his $11 million contract would give Cleveland tax relief but would not drop the Cavs below the cap, even if Isaiah Thomas is not brought back.

The league's oldest team will also receive a boost next June. Cleveland -- short on assets after trades to acquire Channing Frye and Kyle Korver -- could add a potential impact player with the Nets pick along with its own first-rounder.

The Cavs could also receive tax relief in the summer of 2019. Even if Thomas returns, the contracts of JR Smith, Shumpert and Korver all could be off the payroll. Cleveland could feature a roster of James, Thomas, Kevin Love, Jae Crowder and Cedi Osman and still remain below the projected $131 million luxury tax.

How does this trade help Cleveland's future if LeBron James leaves?

The trade gives Cleveland options and insurance if James does depart. Losing James in free agency next July along with the uncertain future of Irving would have left the Cavaliers with limited options. Instead, with both franchise players off the roster, Cleveland could either rebuild or retool, similar to the Clippers after Chris Paul was traded to Houston.

Rebuilding would see the Cavaliers with a focus on their two first-round picks in 2018, including a potentially high lottery pick from Brooklyn. Cleveland could have $23 million in cap space if James and Shumpert opt out and the Cavaliers elect to bypass re-signing Thomas. In 2019, Cleveland could have anywhere from $45 to $70 million in cap space if Love opts out of his $26 million contract in 2019-20.

The retool route would see the Cavaliers make an effort to bring Thomas back at a manageable contract and remain competitive in the Eastern Conference. With James and potentially Shumpert off the roster, Cleveland would have $12 million in cap space, including the $11.9 million cap hold for Thomas. However, the cap space will decrease once both draft picks are factored in.

What will the Cavs offer Isaiah Thomas as a free agent in 2018?

Thomas will see a substantial pay raise from his current $6.3 million salary next summer. What exactly that raise is could depend on the future of LeBron James.

If James returns, Cleveland will likely have to overpay Thomas based on the lack of cap flexibility to replace the All-Star if he signed elsewhere. Still, the Cavs should be cautious. Thomas turns 29 in February. With the combination of a historic 2018 free-agent class and a market dried up from the previous two summers, Thomas could struggle to find a team other than Cleveland to pay a salary north of $20 million.

The teams that could have cap space next summer are rebuilding squads such as the Bulls, Hawks, Nets, Lakers, Mavericks, Kings, Sixers and possibly Knicks.

Can the Cavs use all of these players and picks in another trade? Are there any restrictions?

Players acquired in a trade who are aggregated cannot be traded for two months. In the case of Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder, both players cannot be traded until Oct. 22.

The Cavaliers likely will acquire Ante Zizic with the $2.2 million trade exception created when Mo Williams was sent to Atlanta in January. Because Zizic was not aggregated, he can be traded now.

There are no restrictions on the 2018 Brooklyn Nets first-round pick. Given all the uncertainty of both James' future and where the Nets pick will land, Cleveland should not entertain moving that pick in any potential trade.

Does this impact the larger 2018 free-agent market?

That's still to be determined.

LeBron James and Isaiah Thomas were bound to be free agents even before this trade was finalized. Where things could change is in the impact Thomas and Jae Crowder have on the current roster.

If Cleveland makes a return trip to the NBA Finals with an improved roster and adds a high lottery pick, the 2018 free-agent market could be short two All-Stars.

Pelton NBA trade grades for Kyrie Irving, Isaiah Thomas deal - Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers
by Kevin Pelton on 2017-08-12 04:12:00 UTC (original: http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/sto...homas-deal-boston-celtics-cleveland-cavaliers)

The deal
Cavaliers get: Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, Nets' 2018 first-round pick

Celtics get: Kyrie Irving

Cleveland Cavaliers: A
The timing of Irving's trade request heading into what could be the final season of LeBron James' contract (he holds a player option for the 2018-19 season) put rookie Cavaliers GM Koby Altman in a tricky situation. Should Cleveland prioritize trying to win a championship now with James on the roster or start thinking about a potential future without him?

This trade allowed the Cavaliers to accomplish both goals simultaneously.

There's a case to be made that adding Thomas and Crowder gives Cleveland a better chance of winning the 2018 NBA championship than the Cavaliers would have had keeping Irving. Crowder is precisely the kind of 3-and-D contributor Cleveland needed to better match up with the Golden State Warriors and hadn't yet added this offseason. (Jeff Green, signed for the veteran's minimum, doesn't count as a player of that caliber.)

Crowder can play the role Richard Jefferson filled during the Cavaliers' comeback from a 3-1 deficit against Golden State in the 2016 NBA Finals, playing alongside James at forward and defending either Kevin Durant or Draymond Green while also having the capability of switching out on the Warriors' guards. While Crowder's 39.8 percent 3-point shooting last season looks out of place with the rest of his career, he's a capable enough outside shooter to keep defenders honest and be more valuable than Jefferson at the other end of the court.

Getting two starting-caliber players -- it's unclear whether Crowder might start alongside James on the wing or come off the bench -- for one dramatically improves Cleveland's depth, which should help the Cavaliers manage James' minutes during the regular season.

The hope of Cleveland being better in 2017-18 does rest on Thomas' health. He suffered a torn hip labrum during last year's postseason that sidelined Thomas after Game 2 of last year's Eastern Conference finals against the Cavaliers. Doctors determined over the summer that surgery was not necessary, but Celtics head coach Brad Stevens recently told Chris Mannix that the team wouldn't be sure of Thomas' timetable for training camp until after a scan in early September.

While adding Crowder is a clear win, Cleveland does downgrade to some extent at point guard. Granted, Thomas was a better player in the 2016-17 regular season than Irving; he used a higher share of his team's plays and scored more efficiently, which landed him a spot on the All-NBA Second Team while Irving wasn't selected to any of the three teams. But Irving matched his offensive performance in the playoffs, part of a consistent trend of postseason improvement. And while both players have been defensive liabilities, Irving's issues have more to do with effort than size, allowing him to improve defensively in the crucible of the playoffs.

Boston has matched up well with Golden State with Thomas at point guard, but largely because former backcourt-mate Avery Bradley allowed the Celtics to crossmatch defensively. Some of the defensive gain the Cavaliers make in a potential Finals rematch with the Warriors is offset by replacing Irving with Thomas.

Even if you don't believe this trade makes Cleveland more likely to win the 2018 championship, the fact that it's even debatable is a huge win for the Cavaliers. It's unclear whether keeping Irving was realistic after his desire to get out of James' shadow was reported as an explanation for his trade request, and it would be hard to beat the short-term value of this package in an Irving trade. Above and beyond that, Cleveland also adds long-term value in 2018-19 and beyond by getting the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round pick.

Though the Nets have improved the team that finished with the NBA's worst record a year ago, projections based on ESPN's real plus-minus (RPM) have Brooklyn in the league's bottom five on average. The average simulation based on those projections has the Nets' pick coming up fifth overall, with a reasonable chance (around 9 percent) of it landing No. 1 overall a second consecutive year.

In the event James walks away next summer, the Cavaliers can let Thomas leave as well and kick start their rebuilding effort with (in all likelihood) a lottery pick in hand. In such a scenario, Crowder would surely have plenty of trade value with two years and approximately $15 million remaining on his contract. Overlooked in this deal, Cleveland also gets a useful center prospect in Ante Zizic, the No. 23 pick of the 2016 Draft who has posted strong numbers overseas despite limited athleticism.

Things actually get a little trickier if James stays, in which case re-signing Thomas would push Cleveland's payroll deeper into the luxury-tax stratosphere. (For this season, the Cavaliers potentially save more than $30 million in taxes because the three players they added make less combined than Irving.) But at this point, that's a problem the Cavaliers would be thrilled to have. And this trade solves several others for Cleveland.

Boston Celtics: C
As much as I love this trade for the Cavaliers, I don't necessarily hate it for the Celtics, in no small part because the teams are operating on slightly different timelines. For Cleveland, it's mostly about next season, making Thomas' expiring contract actually somewhat ideal. From Boston's standpoint, Thomas' impending free agency meant a difficult decision.

As he's repeatedly made clear, Thomas expects a max deal next summer as an unrestricted free agent. I'm not convinced such an offer is forthcoming given the limited number of teams who project to have cap space, but either way re-signing Thomas would mean handing a lucrative, long-term contract to a 5-foot-9 point guard heading into his 30s. (Thomas will turn 29 during the upcoming season.)

Re-signing Thomas would have pushed the Celtics deep into the luxury tax and meant tying up the vast majority of their payroll in two players (Thomas and Al Horford) in the back half of their careers. Boston might have been able to survive that with internal development from the numerous young prospects on the roster, but that would have been tricky to manage.

From an age standpoint, the 25-year-old Irving fits neatly between the Celtics' youngsters and fellow newcomer Gordon Hayward (age 27). As noted, his playoff track record suggests Boston has upgraded when it really counts for a team that should be favored to reach the Eastern Conference finals each of the next two seasons. So, overall, he's unquestionably an upgrade on Thomas despite the strong performance of the incumbent Celtics point guard.

The question, then, is whether Irving is enough of an upgrade to merit giving up so much else. And that's where my answer is less positive.

The loss of Crowder shouldn't be minimized. His RPM rating ranked him 20th in the league last season -- better than Irving or Thomas. That rating surely flatters Crowder's impact, but he's a versatile role player on one of the league's best contracts. Trading him simultaneously weakens Boston and strengthens the rival Cavaliers, a fascinating and unusual aspect of this trade between the top two teams in the East.

The loss of Crowder further compromises the Celtics' depth, a strength the last two-plus seasons since Thomas' arrival. Suddenly, Boston has lost six of the seven players who saw the most minutes for the team last season. (Only Horford remains.)

The Celtics are counting on recent lottery picks Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum to fill in those minutes, but neither figures to be nearly as effective in 2017-18 in terms of helping the team win as Crowder was. (I'd bet against them surpassing Crowder in 2018-19 too.) I think this trade makes Boston less likely to earn the East's No. 1 seed next season, and probably less likely to reach the NBA Finals.

Assuming the Celtics can re-sign Irving when he reaches unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2019 (he holds a 2019-20 player option), they've got enough time for the young guys to mature around him. And James' potential departure could clear a path to the NBA Finals for Boston. So I understand what Boston was thinking here. But ultimately I'm not sure I would have given up this much to get Irving.

NBA mock draft: Lottery picks for Cavs, Bulls and Knicks

2018 NBA mock draft - Michael Porter, Marvin Bagley, Luka Doncic and more
by on 2017-08-19 08:10:00 UTC (original: http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/sto...michael-porter-marvin-bagley-luka-doncic-more)

The 2018 NBA draft got an extra boost of star power with Marvin Bagley's reclassification on Monday. But Bagley is just one of seven players with a legitimate shot to be the next No. 1 pick.

Here's our debut 2018 mock draft, featuring picks for both rounds.

The ESPN Summer Forecast was used to project draft order.

1. Chicago Bulls
Michael Porter
Missouri
Freshman
SF/PF

Porter's size, shot-creation skill and scoring instincts will make him a coveted prospect next June. He's a playmaker on both ends of the floor who is just starting to figure out how to put his talent to full use. NBA scouts will want to see him lead Missouri to the NCAA tournament while playing efficient basketball on both ends of the floor.

2. Boston Celtics (via Nets)
Marvin Bagley
Duke
Freshman
PF/C

Bagley is a fluid athlete with a natural feel for scoring, rebounding and blocking shots, which helps him post elite numbers at the high school and AAU level. He's a terror in the open court and very difficult for opposing big men to stay in front of in one-on-one situations, getting him to the free throw line at an excellent rate. NBA teams will want to see how easily he'll be able to make the transition to the intensity level of the college game and get a better gauge for his defense and outside shooting potential.

3. Atlanta Hawks
DeAndre Ayton
Arizona
Freshman
C

Ayton has elite physical tools, standing 7 feet tall with a 7-foot-5.5 wingspan and an excellent frame. He also is fairly skilled offensively, showing potential as a finisher and jump-shooter. NBA scouts question his motor and defensive awareness, things they'll be monitoring closely at Arizona.

4. Phoenix Suns
Luka Doncic
Real Madrid
Age: 18
SG

Doncic posted historic numbers in the Euroleague, Spanish ACB for a 17-year old, thanks to an incredibly high basketball IQ and polished skill set that allows him to play both backcourt positions. He will now be asked to take his game to the next level, as he's finally NBA draft-eligible, which won't be an easy task. Scouts wonder if he's athletic enough to guard his position and create his own shot quite as seamlessly in the NBA as he does in Europe.

5. Sacramento Kings
Robert Williams
Texas A&M
Sophomore
PF/C

Williams is a physical specimen with an NBA body, 7-foot-4 wingspan and tremendous athleticism. He has impressive potential as a rim-protector and pick-and-roll finisher but also shows some ability to pass the ball and even make perimeter jumpers. As a late bloomer, Williams' polish, feel for the game and consistent productivity are still catching up to his potential and tools.

6. Orlando Magic
Miles Bridges
Michigan State
Sophomore
SF/PF

Scraped at insider2text.xyz, brought to you by HeheStreams — No ads, No Bullshit Live & On-Demand NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL Streaming

Bridges is arguably the best athlete in this draft and plays a coveted position as a two-way forward who can guard all over the floor. He converted 39 percent of his 3-pointers as a freshman and is making strides with his ball-handling and playmaking abilities as well. After passing up the chance to be a lottery pick in last year's draft, Bridges will be expected to show significant improvement while leading Michigan State on a deep NCAA tournament run.

7. New York Knicks
Mohamed Bamba
Texas
Freshman
C

Bamba has a 7-foot-9 wingspan that would be the longest of any player currently in the NBA. He's a solid basketball player as well, with good hands, impressive timing as a shot-blocker and rebounder and more offensive ability than you might expect. Bamba doesn't always operate at maximum intensity, and there are some question marks about his toughness.

8. Indiana Pacers
Collin Sexton
Alabama
Freshman
PG

Sexton is a scoring machine who produced a point per minute in both the Nike EYBL and FIBA competition with USA Basketball. He's an exceptional athlete with a 6-foot-7 wingspan and the type of aggressiveness and nasty streak you want to see in a lead guard. His decision-making, court vision and leadership skills need refinement and are the things NBA scouts will be monitoring at Alabama under head coach Avery Johnson.

9. Philadelphia 76ers (via Lakers)
Jaren Jackson
Michigan State
Freshman
PF/C

A big man with elite physical tools in terms of size, frame, wingspan and athleticism, Jackson has budding skills with his ability to shoot 3-pointers, protect the rim and even create his own shot on occasion. He's still putting it all together on a consistent basis. His toughness and feel for the game are a work in progress.

10. Dallas Mavericks
Wendell Carter
Duke
Freshman
PF/C

Carter is a physically mature big man with a 257-pound frame and a 7-foot-3 wingspan, which allows him to play the center position with ease. He's a polished player with excellent hands and touch around the basket who has relied heavily on his strength until this point in his career. Can he continue to score and rebound at a high rate against older players as well?

11. Memphis Grizzlies
Trevon Duval
Duke
Freshman
PG

The Duke freshman is a quick-twitch athlete with great size, a strong frame and a 6-foot-9.5 wingspan, allowing him to defend either guard position. He's explosive in transition and capable of playing at different speeds in the half court, though he's extremely limited as a shooter and needs to work on his decision-making skills as well.

12. Detroit Pistons
Bruce Brown
Miami
Sophomore
SG

Brown is a hard-working combo guard with long arms and good athleticism, playing the game in attack mode on both ends of the floor. He's also a lockdown defender and a capable shooter, but does he score enough to project as a starter in the NBA? One knock on Brown: The sophomore is the same age (21) as some seniors.

13. New Orleans Pelicans
Lonnie Walker
Miami
Freshman
SG

A long-armed shooting guard with a strong frame and impressive athleticism, Walker has strong 3-and-D attributes but has shown flashes of being able to do more. He needs to improve his ballhandling and shot creation. His assertiveness and effort also come and go at times.

14. Portland Trail Blazers
Mitchell Robinson
College: TBD
Freshman
C

Robinson is a freakishly athletic 7-footer with a big wingspan and an impressive frame who plays quick off his feet with solid hands and touch. However, his on-court awareness and feel for the game are very underdeveloped. He left Western Kentucky after a handful of practices, and now his situation is in flux. Did NBA scouts see enough on the all-star circuit to draft him in the top 20?

15. Philadelphia 76ers
Justin Jackson
Maryland
Sophomore
SF/PF

The Maryland sophomore is a versatile combo forward who can even play some small-ball center, thanks to his strong frame and 7-foot-3 wingspan. Jack has made steady improvement defensively and as a 3-point shooter, making him easy to project to today's NBA game. He needs to continue to improve his feel for the game and ball-handling ability.

16. Charlotte Hornets
Dzanan Musa
Cedevita
Age: 18
SF

A precocious European wing with tremendous size and scoring instincts, Musa is already putting up big numbers at a very high level of competition. He's an aggressive player who can put up points from anywhere on the floor and plays with a level of confidence and swagger that will make his transition to the NBA game easier. He lacks length, negating his size to a certain degree and limiting his defensive potential. Plus, he's a just OK athlete who lets his emotions get the best of him at times.

17. Phoenix Suns (via Heat)
Troy Brown
Oregon
Freshman
SG

Thanks to his strong frame and 6-foot-11 wingspan, Brown is a Swiss-army knife who can play anywhere from 1-4. He's a good passer, ball handler and defender with a competitive streak and good feel for the game. He lacks elite athleticism and is a very streaky shooter.

18. Utah Jazz
Hamidou Diallo
Kentucky
Sophomore
SG

Diallo is an athletic shooting guard with a massive, 6-foot-11 wingspan who is highly explosive in the open court. He also brings significant potential defensively, though he's a very poor shooter and just a rudimentary ball-handler in the half court.

19. LA Clippers
Mikal Bridges
Villanova
Junior
SF

Bridges is a prototypical 3-and-D wing with good size, a 7-foot-1 wingspan and an improving frame. He's a highly efficient player on both ends of the floor and a multipositional defender. However, his skill level is still a work in progress, in terms of shot creation and ability to shoot off the dribble.

20. Denver Nuggets
Chimezie Metu
USC
Junior
Center

The USC junior is a mobile big man with a strong frame and high-level athleticism. He has shown flashes offensively both facing and with his back to the basket. His soft hands and touch help him knock down an occasional midrange jumper, though he doesn't always play hard enough, considering his projected role and that his defensive toughness and intensity come and go. He also doesn't rebound at a great clip. Metu has upside but will need to translate that into more consistent production this season.

21. Brooklyn Nets (via Raptors)
Rodions Kurucs
Barcelona
Age: 19
SF/PF

The big wing/combo forward has a nice frame and an intriguing skill set. He's a capable shooter with a fluid stroke off the catch. Kurucs can create his own shot from the perimeter and is a solid passer, but his defensive intensity wavers, and his jumper is prone to streakiness. Will he see enough minutes in the ACB this season to prove he's worth a first-round selection?

22. Milwaukee Bucks
Nick Richards
Kentucky
Freshman
C

A 7-footer with a tremendous frame and a 7-foot-4 wingspan, Richards is quick off his feet and fluid in the open floor. He shows flashes with his footwork and touch in the post and has timing as a shot-blocker. His motor runs hot and cold, though, and he isn't very polished on either end of the floor.

23. Atlanta Hawks (via Timberwolves)
Shake Milton
SMU
Junior
PG

The big point guard has the size, length and frame to defend both backcourt positions with his 7-foot wingspan. He's a career 3-point shooter at the college level and very versatile with his ability to shoot, pass and guard, but he has somewhat of a vanilla approach to the game. His defensive intensity tends to waver.

24. Washington Wizards
Grayson Allen
Duke
Senior
SG

Allen is a high-level shot maker coming off a down year at Duke, partially due to injuries and a variety distractions. He has deep range on his jumper and can make shots off the bounce from well beyond NBA range. The senior is a vertically explosive leaper but doesn't have much side-to-side wiggle and struggles to guard anyone, even at the college level, due to his poor size, length and lateral quickness.

25. Minnesota Timberwolves (via Thunder)
Isaac Bonga
Frankfurt
Age: 17
PG/SF

A 6-foot-9 point guard with a 7-foot wingspan and an excellent feel for the game, Bonga uses his size to see over the top of the defense and find teammates with creativity. He has great instincts and versatility defensively, perhaps his biggest value at the NBA level. He also plays hard and has toughness. However, he is limited by his lack of quickness and almost complete inability to shoot from the perimeter. He needs the ball in his hands but struggles to get by better defenders.

26. Cleveland Cavaliers
De'Anthony Melton
USC
Sophomore
PG/SG

Melton is a tough-minded combo guard who fills up the stat sheet and guards at a high level. The high-IQ passer keeps the offense flowing and is instinctual on the glass and getting in the passing lanes. He has also shown flashes as a shooter, though he struggles to utilize his athleticism due to his extremely poor ball-handling skills and plays at just one speed. Can he take the next step in his development offensively and shoulder a bigger role?

27. San Antonio Spurs
Austin Wiley
Auburn
Sophomore
PF

Wiley stands 6-foot-11 with a 7-foot-5 wingspan, a 9-foot-1 standing reach and a chiseled 250-pound frame. He has improved his motor, feel for the game and conditioning dramatically. He's an outstanding offensive rebounder with soft hands and touch. But he plays below the rim and struggles to step out onto the perimeter, protect the rim, pass out of double teams or score outside of the paint, which makes him a very old-fashioned big man, the type that isn't really en vogue in today's NBA.

28. Brooklyn Nets (via Celtics)
Tyus Battle
Syracuse
Sophomore
SG

A solid-sized wing with a frame that will fill out nicely in time, Battle has some untapped potential athletically. He made 37 percent of his 3s as a freshman, but he struggles to create his own shot in the half court. He also doesn't have great awareness defensively.

29. Atlanta Hawks (via Rockets)
Brandon McCoy
UNLV
Freshman
Center

McCoy is a 7-footer with a massive 250-pound frame and a big standing reach. He can operate with his back to the basket using footwork, touch and body control. He's also aggressive on the offensive glass. Still, McCoy needs to improve his on-court decision-making, and he's somewhat of a black hole offensively. He also really struggles to make his presence felt defensively, especially stepping outside the paint.

30. Golden State Warriors
Andrew Jones
Texas
Sophomore
PG

The physically talented guard stands 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot-6.5 wingspan. He's a good athlete, especially in the open court, who shows some nice versatility with his ability to handle, pass, guard multiple positions and make an occasional open 3-pointer. However, he didn't do anything consistently as a freshman and needs to improve his decision-making skills and off the dribble shooting ability to take on more ball-handling responsibilities.

Round 2
31. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Bulls)

Abdoulaye N'doye, SG, Age: 19, Chalon

32. Philadelphia 76ers (via Nets)

Tadas Sedekerskis, SF, Age: 19.5, Baskonia

33. Atlanta Hawks

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, SG, Sr., Kansas

34. Phoenix Suns

I see all the bgol sports reporter's saying that Cleve got the bad end of the deal and should have kept Irving. Well those same pundits would be crying if Cleve did and they tanked because of Irving and the poison he definitely would have brought to the team. All season long it would have been one big question about team chemistry after another.

"Irving shoe lace is untied, did LeBron secretly switch Irving shoe laces with old worn out ones?" Blah blah blah, three days of dumb ass speculations after every fucking game.

Cleve did the right thing. You cut out cancer, you don't take aspirin and wait on some miracle cure to get approved by the FDA.

That's the shit the gets me. Cleve talked to teams for a whole entire week before that came out. Who's to say one of the teams they spoke with didn't put it out in order to fuck Cleve and hopefully get Irving at basement prices? You never know but somehow the story line is LeBron doing it because that gives you an entire summer of shit to talk about.

It's Not Over It Just Started!!!!

So you Have Lebron James, Kevin Love, Isiah Thomas, Dwayne Wade, Derick Rose, Jae Crowder, Kyle Korver

Didn't I tell you Bozo ass niggas a new super power was forming and Kyrie Irving would bring back an embarrassment of riches to the 216????? and This team will stay together and if you get a top 5 pick which is likely 90% a lock to happen year after next, you got some Historical all star shit going down because you know Mello will join them too.

:roflmao3::roflmao3::roflmao3:Looks like the super freinds will be in Cleveland Not LA New York or Philly

Sorry eastern conference Kobe Bryant and Kyrie Irving just set all of yall bum ass squads back like 3-5 maybe 6 years

Sure it is. Overall the Cavs took an L in this and I've been very eloquent in explaining my position. We will just have to disagree on this but when IT shows himself as the one hit one dimensional wonder while Kyrie is flourishing I will most certainly bump my posts. Also, what you 'gain' defensively in Crowder IT more than cancels out with his ridiculously pitiful defensive capabilities so that's a wash.

Once LeBron leaves next year and the Cavs are stuck with watching IT leave as a one year rental or be stuck overpaying him to stay, the L the Cavs took in this deal will be much more evident
One main reason the Cavs took an L. They legitimately may have made Boston the better team.

Also that Brooklyn pick may not even be a top 5 pick.

Now you have team Chemistry issues. How do you play D Rose and IT? Someone has to be a six man.

drose leg gonna make it be the starter when it decides to collapse

Exactly! Cavs picked up two players who will basically cancel each other out. I really believe a lot of Dudes are trying to convince themselves this was a good trade :smh:

The trade could've been better I'm not disputing that at all, what I'm saying is I don't think it was gonna be lol

It's a lot of factors in the NBA now the good players have control on where they go the team Kyrie went to was only going to have control for 2 more seasons the deal wasn't going to get much better IMO
Respect

Wade ain't even sign yet.. I think Wade will fuck around and sign with Houston if he's bought out
Exactly! This deal might be the reason too. The Cavs fucked up moving Kyrie for this lil Dude man.... They will see soon enough. Funny thing is, they may have some success early, and Dudes like @BAG will be on here :dancing: and shit, but come playoffs the pleas will start being copped..

Explain how Boston would be the better team.

And if you have to question who would be the 6th man between IT and Rose... I mean come on.

Let's keep it 100 you ninjas are like Obama haters when it comes to LeBron. You all don't give a shit about the Cavs this is ALL about LeBron. I wish the Cavs would have snagged the Tatum kid too

How? IT4 isn't that big of a drop off from Kyrie he's just shorter. I don't think the Cavs are done.
Sure he is. I didn't say they were done, and I still think they will get back to the finals but its gonna be a LOT harder than people think now. IT was completely exposed and the blueprint on how to play him was laid out last playoffs when he disappeared before he got hurt. He is much more of a fall off from Kyrie when you look at the dynamic of how he plays as opposed to how LeBron plays, PLUS, he's 4-5 inches shorter, not as athletic, etc.

No dis on LeBron, he's the greatest player of this generation, BUT, if you look at what happens to players whose biggest asset depends on being ball dominant once they come to play with him, their numbers drop off across the board. IT is a big fall off from Kyrie, then you add to the equation D Rose who is a mirror clown to a point of IT, in my opinion, the Cavs fucked up with this deal in that regard.

Time will tell, but once teams get an initial look at the 'new' Cavs and adjust, the gap in this trade will grow wider.... Kyrie has been doing what he's doing since day one, a PROVEN playoff big time performer and a huge reason why the Cavs won their chip... IT, had a good ONE season, a few good playoff games, but he ultimately folded up when his team needed him the most. He has a lot to prove in terms of whether he is a legit star or a one hit wonder... I believe he is going to be a decent player for them, but you don't trade a 25 year old stud just entering into his prime, who has PROVEN he can play with LeBron and within that system and doesn't choke, for a 'decent' player... all I'm saying...

Im glad bgol sports don't get paid 4 basketball views . Football season is coming that's something u all can handle.

Even Stephen A sounds rational and has consistent sources. Some half a pint carton jackass said d wade is going to Ny which ain't true. Kristaps and Joakim are those guys right now. We all know mello is gone.

Seriously Bruh, all due respect but why does shit always have to come to a post like this! People are rapping basketball, dialoging and giving opinions... EVERYTHING is not about LeBron or how people do or don't feel about him. It's this type of shit man that derails threads.

We agree to disagree on some topics but damn... Bruh, this shit can get a bit annoying sometimes. I've been in some back and forths on this shit, I NEVER instigate the hater bullshit talk, but this thread is seriously going good with people giving points and counterpoints... really an enjoyable 'basketball' related dialog... for once it would be cool to keep that shit that way man... :smh:

That was when IT4 was the focal point of the offense(no pun intended) and wasn't playing next to LeBron. Both Kyrie and IT4 have durability concerns but they both can ball out at any given moment. And just about ANY all star can play with LeBron what the fuck are you talking about famalama?

Also IT4 took his team farther than Irving took his team when it was just him and no LeBron. You can say wwhatever you want but when that nigga said he wanted to be traded to the Knicks I lost all respect. Like the Cavs are dysfunctional but the Knicks have stable? Foreal?

YOU can be annoying at times.

The thread is going good because all your hater ass friends are in here co signing yo ass . Nigga trying to make ANOTHER IT4 for Kyrie thread knowing damn well it was already like three threads on it

In no way is the starting unit much worsen. One all star point guard for another all star point guard AND a lottery pick. Fuck outta here.

No doubt, my all the other stuff is irrelevant about the Knicks and all because we are here now.

Like I said, I definitely don't think IT is going to be a complete bust, Kid is way too talented for that, but in comparison to what Kyrie gave the Cavs and what I believe IT will, I still feel the Cavs took a major L in this deal. Without being ball dominant, pounding the ball for 10 seconds to make a move, etc, what else does IT give you? At least at times Kyrie was serviceable on defense and actual can play defense when he feels like it. IT is just physically incapable of making a defensive impact. Overall, MY view of him is a talented short guy, who essentially will end up as more of a novelty with some stats more so than a difference maker. When Kyrie continues to improve the L the Cavs took in this deal will become more glaring, unless that pic turns in to Porter or Bagley. If not, :smh:
