And why? Well there was this thing called a opt out clause in his contract. He could choose to opt out and become something called a free agent. He wasn't asking for a trade with two years left on his deal because he thought he was in Wade's shadow or he wanted to be the focal point of the offense.

One of Irving's former teammates told a Western Conference GM, "He's an animal. Forget whatever you hear about him off the court. Go get him." But what will it take to pry the four-time All-Star from new GM Koby Altman and the Cavaliers?
"So, wherever that is, for Kyrie, I hope he finds that. But LeBron James is a phenomenal player. I got a chance to play on his team in the Olympics in 2012, and learned a lot from him."

He doesn't have a choice where he goes for the next two years. Cavs have to do what's best for the team. Kyrie, Milsap, Jokic, Harris, and Mudiay as the backup PG is a nice squad. Those teams he asked for don't have anything to offer. Dragic is coming off a bad season. Winslow hasn't showed much upside and has had injuries. Melo ain't going to Cleveland when Bron is bouncing and Kyrie ain't there. Wolves shouldn't give up Wiggins. Having another perimeter defender to go along with Butler while Towns and Dieng cover the paint will make the Wolves a elite defensive team. Spurs don't have anything worth giving up other than LA and that's not enough.
