Kobe is a talented cat, no doubt, but I just don't get these "Man crushes" cats have on him. I first witnessed the "Man Crush" phenomenon when Tupac first blew up, it got worse with Kobe, and turned full blown homo when 50 came on the scene. Cats having posters of other cats over their beds (especially you cats with that shirtless, oiled up 50 poster), cats dressing like other cats, cats giving themselves nicknames referencing other cats (I got a homie that calls himself "Kobe Tony"). This shit needs to stop someplace before somebody ends up doing some shit they can't take back (Kobe getting raped by some obsessed MALE fan may affect his game negatively). I'm not saying for anybody to stop supporting their favorite artist/athlete, I'm just saying to keep shit in perspective and work a little harder at avoiding catchin' feelin's for them.

"Man Crush"????!!!

MAN CRUSH??!!

LMFAO!!

I'm wondering how old you are to even make this analogy? If you think Jordan couldn't do that with the current NBA roster, then you really don't know anything about basketball. Anyone who knows basketball knows that the NBA is not even close to what it used to be. Jordan played against the best of the best and scored at will. And, he got his points while still improving the play of those around him.

To make my point: When Kobe entered the league, it's a known fact that he would ask for Jordans advice every chance he got. He'd even ask advice during the game. Why do you think he would do that?

Kobe has made it no secret that Michael Jordan was and still is his favorite basketball player. You're acting like it's a crime to be compared to your favorite player, and still admire him. No one save god could do anything with that current roster, and for anyone to expect that exact same team to be there within the next few years, they're dilusional.

:puke: @ this post.

I knew it was only a matter of time being that some bumbling fan said this same thing to me earlier today but all I will say is look at the career numbers and the career accomplishments and then see that Wobe is no where near Jordan's level.

All these dudes that wish they were Wobe's boy toy is sickening. Grown men going around glorfying the 81 points (which was impressive I admit) like he actually broke the NBA record. :hmm:

The bottomline is that in today's NBA, if someone catches fire (and gets enough FGA) they can go on a scoring binge.

Bryant got hot in the second half and brought the lakers the W which is what Im more impressed about being that he loses games for them more than he wins but who doesnt think that the following list of players can't score near 100 if they caught fire and were selfish enough to do it (Not to mention hada coach with the ego of Jackson to allow it)

T-Mac
Iverson
Gilbert Arenas
LeBron James

That being said, I am almost positive that someone will break Wilt's record before someone breaks Coach Stupid's because his record is the only one that requires total team efficiency and not selfish play.

No, he really isnt... See why Wobe isnt clutch

You know damn well none of those players you listed could break 100. If they could have, then they would have already done it.

Lebron James = going to be a great player, but as for right now, he's choking under the hype

Iverson = he's already had his chance, and although he'd better be a Hall of Fame player, he's not getting a 100.

T-Mac = INJURIES

Gilbert Arenas = Who?

Wasn't that team equipped with more experienced players? No. Did that team have the same Kobe that players with the Lakers this season? No. Did that team have the same coaches that are currently coaching the Lakers? No. Is this team older than the previous season's team? No.

I guess it's easier to come up with negative statements when the team's winning and playing well as opposed to when they're playing well. Oh well, have fun.

chris mihm, lamar odom and tobe all returned to this year's starting squad...

oh, i get it... LAST year, chucky atkins and caron butler were tradebait scapegoats for the 'inexplicable' losses that piled up... THIS season, chucky atkins and caron butler have magically transformed into those experienced veterans the fakers could've used instead of william parker and kwame brown...

:smh:

i'm not going to try and infer what your actual question is here...

coach hamblen, coach rambis and coach shaw have all returned from last season...

i'll take your word for it...

and i see it's easiest for people to try and rationalize how supposedly the league's most talented player can't get a team into the playoffs.

and ONLY because this thread made the assinine comparison of michael jordan and tobe, i will close with 2 questions of my own followed by a quote from tobe himself...

1) did the chicago bulls ever fail to make the playoffs with michael jordan on the roster? NO...

2) did the fakers ever fail to make the playoffs with tobe on the roster? YES...

and here's the quote from tobe:

"Through my career I've been compared to him so many times, and I just wish it would stop," Bryant said. "He's Michael Jordan and I'm Kobe Bryant; we're two different players. I just wish people would let it go because it really annoys me.

"You can't compare what I'm doing to what he's done. He's probably one of the greatest if not the greatest player of all time; there's no comparison. I really wish people would stop measuring up what I do to in comparison to what he's done."

It's not fair for us, the younger generation to be constantly compared to such greatness - from myself to LeBron James to other young players. You're talking about Magic Johnson, you're talking about Michael Jordan, we can't measure up to them."

Jordans scoring did not impress me as much as one thing:

72-10

Then followed that up with 69 wins the next season

With Dennis Rodman mind you WHO DIDN"T EVEN SCORE AND WASNT EXPECTED TO

There will one day be someone better than Jordan. I look forward to that day.

Kobe is very good, however until he can do what Jordan did with a TEAM he will not get recognized as better than a great scorer.

I am pulling for him,he just is not there yet.

First of all, it seems that alot of these younger cats think a scorer = a great player. Thats just simply not true. Kobe is a prolific scorer no doubt, but now hes just as good as JORDAN? Are you fucking kidding me? These NBA 2K5 Playing niggas know shit about the game of basketball!@ :smh:

The NBA IS SHIT COMPARED TO WHEN JORDAN WAS BALLIN!!! Todays game is so watered down and bitched out, phantom calls, ticky tack fouls. You cant even touch the offensive player without refs blowing the fucking wistle. Back in late 80s - early 90s, KOBE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE HOOP LIKE HE DOES TODAY. Those teams back then had what they called the "Jordan Rules" and would pound the shit out of the Kobe Bryants of today. Those old school Piston, 76ers, Knicks, Pacers, Bullets, Jazz, Rockets teams played DEFENSE. THEY WOULD KNOCK KOBE OUT HIS FUCCING SHOES!! They even had certain bench players to come in the game just to FOUL THE SHIT OUT OF JORDAN IF HE DROVE TO THE HOOP. Kobe would be in the hostpital if he tried this shit back in the "golden age" of basketball.

Jordan knew the right time to take over a game, like in the last 5 min or so. He made everybody on that Bulls team look like NBA LEGENDS. The only good player Jordan had with him was Pippen. Until Kobe can make his TEAM better, he just another scorer in a watered down, bitched out NBA, which means NOT A DAMN THING!!

Even basketball fan worth his weight would take Majic, 'Zeke, Bird, Stockton over Bryant and none of these guys were no where near as athletic as Kobe is. Now ask yourself why wouldnt Kobe make the list. Its because he just doesnt "get it". There is a certain understanding about the game of basketball that Kobe Bryant doesnt have inspite of all his scoring ability.

Without question reality is most profoundly expressed in this reply.
