Knicks resign Lee & Robinson to 1 yr deals

I have a feeling one of them will but used as trade bait, but if not then one is not coming back.

It wasn't exactly the lucrative contract David Lee was hoping to land, but in the end, his one-year contract was far more lucrative than the Knicks were required to pay.

Lee's drawn out free agency ended Thursday when the veteran power forward agreed to a $7 million contract, according to his agent, Mark Bartelstein. Lee's qualifying offer was $2.6 million. The Knicks did not have to increase the deal since Lee failed to sign an offer sheet with another club after he became a restricted free agent on July 1st. If Lee signed an offer sheet, the Knicks would have been given seven days to match any deal. Lee was looking for a long-term contract worth approximately $12 million annually.

Under the circumstances, Bartelstein called the deal "unprecedented" and agreed that the Knicks' willingness to offer Lee $7 million suggests that the club is committed to signing Lee to a long-term deal next summer.

Nate Robinson's one-year deal is believed to be worth $5 million, which is also well above his $2.9 qualifying offer. Lee and Robinson will become unrestricted free agents on July 1st, 2010, joining a star-studded talent pool featuring LeBron James.

I like them both so I will just enjoy having them on the team for as long as Walsh keeps them.
 
Lee & Robinson keeps the stands FULL. That is worth more to the franchise than championships. Oh, and fuck Lebron. Develop your own talent and you'll win faster than if you just try to buy it

His close friend is Jay-Z, and the recent management addition of a 'billionaire' (Mikhail Prokhorv, $9.5B personal value with a 80% ownership), pretty-much closes the deal on LaBron. Plus, Prokhorv gets an option to purchase 20% ownership of the atlantic Yards Development Co. (proposed new basketball arena). He also owns a basketball team in Russia.

NBA commish praised and applauded the move, viewing it as a "conduit for NBA global expansion.

Looks like the Nets might 'trump' any deal or hopes the Knicks may dream about.
