KIM HILL (Original Black Eyed Peas Member)

That was a good mini interview. Whats cool is that she doesn't seem bitter about the success of B.E.P. Infact, it seemed like she was relieved and didnt become part of what she new the group would become. I hope she has success with her new album. I may even pick up her first one. She sounds like she has some soul. Definetly talented.
 
This is the reason why the music industry is in the flunk it is right now. Here you have a woman who's talented who gets the door closed behind her but yet someone like Britney Spears and her antics don't get dropped. That's why I was so irked when Timberland made that comment that he would like to help Britney make a comeback. I always said what about the sisters? There's plenty of them that have not had a lot of commercial exposure that they should have had.

Damn shame, once they drop that beautiful, Black, Nubian Goddess and pick up the pasty-skinned, flat assed, no talent hack of a singer, they're famous. I've been saying the Black Eyed Peas sold out a long time ago. Matter of fact, once I saw they changed female vocals, I said to someone, "Watch, now that they got some white chick in the group, you won't be able to turn on the radio without hearing them everywhere." And I shit you not, I heard "My Humps" on a country radio station when it first came out :eek:

I wish for nothing but the best for Kim Hill. I didn't know what happened to her after she split the group. Glad she didn't get hooked on smack or somethin'.
 
Kimmy Kim.... she's awesome, I used to see her perform live monthly in LA.
She has a song called "The Real Hip Hop" about them Black Eyed Coons.

What kills me is somebody is going to say she's got some talent, but then turn around and say "I might even buy her next CD" WTF. I don't know why the interview had to be even done. She's talented, but she did what she did and now is living it up in South Central L.A.. I loved her when she was on the first AND second CD, that's why I bought it and not the rest of the others. Once I saw thay had changed up artists(a white girl?) it was I knew that it was over for them. they were in the league of Jurassic 5 back in the day and now they are in another level. can I blame them? NO, I mean, the label was going to drop them. But you know how them jews do to make money, they have to have the upper hand on niggas.

SHE IS humble about it, but come on, once you see your disappointing sales, you're bound to regroup and think up a different strategy.

The thing that kills me is that they said she wasn't "black enough" now if she means acting like a video vixxen or video ho, then that's nonsense.

I used to think they were going Neo-Soul becuase that's how their music used to sound like. I was damn near surprised that Will.I.Am is even making music for Nas and fucking 50 Cent, which to me was just crazy, but hey.

They are all following money, but it's cool. She's talented so she'll get where she wants to be and her music will be heard by her TARGET audience and not the LABEL's target audience.

Much love to her and I can't wait to buy her album

Wow!

I always used to wonder what happened to the sista in B.E.P. Back when she was with them they were one of my favorite (and most slept on) groups. When they came with Fergie I thought WTF? Sad truth is I knew they were gonna cross over once they added Fergie b/c white America was going to have reason to look at them and they started making very pop-ish music. Sad really that this is what the music industry has become. I'm buying her album and friending her on myspace.

Kim needn't worry, she may never go multi-platinum but she will have a longer and more fulfilling career as an independent artist. As for the Peas, look for them to go by way of No Doubt (female singer goes solo and group fades into oblivion)

B.E.P had one song....they have gone no further....Will I AM is making some bread....the rest of them are finished....the label and FURGI used them....

This type of BULLISHT has been the ORDER OF THE DAY since the SO CALLED "MUSIC" industry was SET UP by the JEWS! Many of my people NEED to stop saying "I don't blame them for SELLING OUT."! How in the world could their music have not been BLACK ENOUGH, when they were ALL BLACK then and sounded like HIP HOP" BLACK MUSIC? They ARE SELL OUTS with a WHITE BROAD and FAKE ass WHITE POEPLE POP tracks! Please... It is because of the TIN PAN ALLEY business tactics that the JEWS run MUSIC, Diamonds etc.

They want you to change your shit in order to sell more records in order for THEM to make MORE MONEY by selling MORE records to the Non BLACK Men & Black/White/Other Women who buy the VAST MAJORITY of Music Period!

I'm surpised that none of the hot rappers or even will.i.am (apart from BEP) has done anything with her..jayz can make rihanna the next hot thing but can't work with her??

By and large, they don't know how to sell a female to the masses who's is not a whore or a drunkard. In the industry currently, there is very little room for well-spoken, and fully-clothed women. The business of music is driven by the need to keep the shareholders happy, and shareholders don't give 2 steaming shits about artistry, they want dividends. Period. So the Jimmy Iovine's, and the L.A. Reid's, I don't blame them, they take orders (and in the case of these 2 gentlemen, it's from the same person, see here ).

I do blame the artists who fail to realize that we keep the music relevant, and if we stop feeding the machine, then we can gain control, and run the machine ourselves.

Ah....come on...this chick was never a member.
She was a sometimey contributor during a period when their styles meshed.
Definitely a fan of the BEPs during that era, but don't get it twisted...she was on some independent contractor shit... (Chick never made an album cover.)

Hope she can give up the Top Ramen soon though...she was a dope addition to the Peas.

I wasn't gonna say anything, but since you opened the can....

Point is she will wear tight pants in her regular life, its the fact someone told her to do it to help sell records...Now while it can seem sensible to not do it, but "BUSINESS" rules the music business not music...and if you are trying to be in the music business accept that rule or stay the fuk out and stop bitchin. You aren't the one initially investing hundreds of thousands to millions in an image and sound...for that amount of money you think its outrageous for a stylist to ask you to wear whatever the scene/image calls for...you never hear actors complain about doing whatever for a scene, they just do what needs to be done to capture the scene/moment. ITS JUST BUSINESS! Let a mothafukka say they won't wear a McDonalds uniform going to work for them..you'll earn minimum wage from them, but you will reject possible millions because someone asked you to where something you probably rock off the clock @ the club.

As for her music, I'm sure there is a niche' for it and I'm glad she is creating her music in the most efficient way possible so that she can profit from her labors. Nice post.
 
I am sorry i will stick with Fergie...Kim tried to turn the tables until i watched the video towards the end....her CD covers dont have much difference with Fergies either

And is that what she calls a studio?

Who gives a fuck if the label wants her to sing songs that will make money it's just fucking music now her broke ass is in the hood while the rest of bep is sittin on millions and all you niggas talking about good for her she didn't sell out to the white man i bet most of you niggas is working shitty jobs and your boss is white so if all you have to do is sing a certain type of song and get millions sign me up for that shit.
