Khan: Jail Will Affect Mayweather, Best Time To Face Him!

Former champion Amir Khan (26-2, 18KOs) believes a few months of prison will affect Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs). "It will affect him, it would affect anyone," Khan told BBC Sport. For several months, Khan was mentioned as leading candidate to face Mayweather on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Khan's dream of landing Mayweather was crushed when he lost a twelve round split decision to Lamont Peterson on December 10th in Washington, DC.

And last Wednesday, Mayweather pled guilty to a domestic abuse charge and the judge sentenced him to spend 90 days in a Las Vegas jail. Mayweather has to surrender by January 6th. Because of his current situation, Khan feels it's the best time to catch Mayweather in the ring.

"Things happens for a reason. This fight [with Peterson] has probably put me back three months because I want to get the win against Lamont Peterson [in a rematch] and get to where I want to be. I hear Mayweather is in prison for 90 days. I think he'll need a couple of months to get back into it again and then train. I think right now is the best time to catch him. He's making a lot of mistakes now and doing a lot of things wrong on the streets as well. I think right now is the best time to catch him, when his hands are low and beat him. I know I got the style to beat him," Khan said.

Mayweather will be fine he won't do the full sentence...he can still keep his body in excellent condition working out with all that free time...

He eats anything I believe, my boy went to train at his gym just before the ortiz fight and he told me there was a burger place where they sold some big ass burgers and the owner said Floyd is always there every night after training.

I figured that... I've said in the past that he probably eats like that to keep his weight up so he doesn't drop down from welterweight just like Manny. That's really the only way that makes sense to me... if he has done that his whole career or even half of it, he is some kind of freak.

Probably a freaky metabolism and he's smart. A big ass burger after training puts those calories and protein right back into his system after a workout. Not the way most professionals would recommend but it clearly works for him.
