New Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant has voiced his support of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to protest the national anthem at football games, according to Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News/Bay Area News Group.

“I’m behind anyone who stands up for what they believe in,” Durant said. “Colin Kaepernick is standing up for what he believes in. That’s what makes our country so great, right? You have the luxury to do so. He was unapologetic about it and, in his defense, I don’t think he was trying to disrespect anyone. I think he was trying to get his point across. I’m all for anyone who wants to do that. As athletes, we have this huge platform. A lot if people are watching at all times. Sometimes it may not be what you do, they like. But if you feel like it’s gonna be impactful, that's on you. I feel like everyone should stand up for what they believe.”

Kaepernick has decided not to stand for the national anthem during the preseason in protest of racial inequalities and injustices taking place in America, including police-related violence.

Let's see how many basketball players sit

They have guaranteed contracts and a lot more power

I'm still baffled by the Rick James shit. Dudes going through a midlife crisis at 27

Funny thing... Steph Curry also said he supported him... somehow his name was missed in the thread title though. Big ups to Durant AND Steph Curry for having the balls to speak on this...
and the usual suspects are quiet because their favorite dudes who they were quick to point out are hushed like a motherfucker right? LOL
funny how that shit works.

Rick James shit?

Kevin Durant has an array of questionable at best tattoos in odd places that really he shouldn't have them.
His Tattoos are the equivalent to some of the shit Westbrook wears the difference is Westbrook can take that crazy shit off, Kevin can't without lots of laser treatment.

Dude.... back when the 'speech' took place, within fucking HOURS all you heard was...

LeBron >>>> Jordan
Where's Jordan

Then when Jordan made a statement you heard...
'Its about time'
'Too late'

Now, here we are what, 3 weeks later, not a fucking peep. Those fools are on a fucking milk carton, and NOW when LeBron and Crew finally does make a statement IF he does (and this is really not a statement situation, in a month once the pre-season starts it will be an 'action' situation), wonder how man 'about time' bitching posts are we going to see then...

They gave that nice ass speech in a controlled setting on a stage... Now, Kap has raised the ante... Lets see where this goes :D

And to be clear, all they gotta say is I support him. They don't need to stage a boycott. They just need to say I ride with the message. It could easily become bigger than Kap if enough people just showed solidarity then it'd become about the message and not him.

Yep! I don't want know middle of the road bullshit! Take a fucking position! Fuck straddling the damn fence...

I bumped the thread of Curry voicing his support of Kaep and his message... it has like 10 replies.... let Curry pick a booger out his nose and get caught doing it... 20 pages. Props to KD though and all the athletes taking a stand.

Nope. They need to donate a mill to a police union.

I would not count on any NBA players cannot sitting. I really hope so, but they probably wont.

"The N.B.A. would offer no additional comment on the matter other than reiterating the statement issued from Deputy Commissioner Russ Granik's office on Tuesday, which read, "The N.B.A.'s rule on this point is very clear and all our rules apply equally to all players."

At issue is a one-sentence clause in the league's rule book that states, "Players, coaches and trainers are to stand and line up in a dignified posture along the sidelines or the foul line during the playing of the national anthem."

The position of the league is that there is a standard clause in player contracts that stipulates a player must agree to abide by N.B.A. rules.

The players association, in a statement released yesterday, disputed this position on the grounds that the rule "was not one agreed to in collective bargaining, but was imposed by the league unilaterally in an operations manual, without any input from the players."

So... the Players Union is setting the stage for a battle? I believe this issue has already been in discussion and will be address when the time is right....

I had no idea Curry said anything...
Didn't see the thread on bgol and I got an espn alert in THIS and not curry.
