Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE

Video was great. He reminds me of the days when rock videos were creative asf.

I'm still wondering if he is a genius worthy of all the hype or is it that we have allowed the bar to be set so low that just being of a Normal woken pedigree will amaze us now

Whose better and why in your opinion? and when did the bar drop in your opinion? what year specifically? and I would venture to say that over the last 10plus years and longer Kdot would hold his own;

The bar is definitely low. The song is good but the Kendrick dick riding is hilarious.

I can't blame Kendrick, he's a good artist in a sea of mediocrity, so of course to a lot of people he'll be seen as the current GOAT.

It reminds me of a joke a stand up comedian made: "it's like being 41st in the world's tallest dwarves: 41st admittedly but a dwarf nonetheless."

This shit is so epic , bold, creative, had core, intelligent, profound .... I would say game changing hut not many can even follow this bravo Kendrick. You truly run this rap shit.

This the type shit that makes every rapper reexaine their shit and throw away the notepad they writing rhumesin even if its the notepad app in their phone.

Just like anything else, all you can do is all you can do. Maybe he's great because everyone else is so trash. But that was the beauty of "CONTROL." He asked his peers to step the fuck up. So many people thought it was a diss record when it was more like a reckoning. And with the exception of Pusha, no one he named fucking got it. He let niggas know what it was with that verse. I'm about to raise this fucking bar, and yall can try to re-raise or get shit on. And right now, he's shitting on all his peers.

Most his peers are pop artists :dunno:
Not really his fault though. That's the state of the game

Hip Hop in general has gone pop, but I wouldn't say MOST of his peers are pop artists, but I get your point since his main competition is pop. Let's take a look at the list of people that would be considered his peers:

Drake - ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY Pop
JCole - I dont think anyone would consider him pop
Meek - he wishes
Pusha - not even close
Wale - nah
Big Sean - Nah, even though he's had some pop culture success
Krit - not even close (love homie's music though)
Jay Electronica - Only if you consider that Rothchild pussy, pop
Tyler - nope
Mac Miller - I dont listen to bul so idk
Chance - nah
Childish Gambino - nah
Joey Badass - nah

Who am I missing?

Who is then? Drake my nigga? Foh.
He said "greatest rapper alive", even though I'm related to Drake I don't consider him to be the greatest rapper alive and Drake know he isn't either. Kendrick is one of the "current best rappers alive" and Drake is one of the "current greatest rappers alive"

Kendrick is more mainstream then most of them cats.
A lot of them get no radio play
Some of them are in a different lane.
Idk about jcole, I wonder if he wasn't signed to Hov if he would be as successful.

you are a fuckin idiot if you think kendrick is the greatest rapper alive.

so you saying kendrick is better than nas?

gtfoh
Right now? Yes muthafucka. I don't give a rat's ass about Illmatic in 2017. Nas, Jay-Z, Tupac, Scarface, Biggie Smalls, are all greats. But we are talking about current active rappers. And Drake is nothing but a pop sensation. That nigga is not that good.

the person I replied to said "greatest rapper alive" not "current active rapper" you must didn't read that part.

drake, kendrick and j.cole are the top 3 best current rappers out now cause they are all the most consistent and they all have good material that people like in rotation.

People in here don't count gkmc and tpab as classics?

Regardless of era his music has staying power and can stand on its own

Not just because the competition is weak.

Drop Kendrick in any era and he is still top 5

Being the g.o.a.t. of anything is just relative to peoples own personal experience, demographic, and bias.

I was just saying in a millennial age full of futures, young thugs, Drakes (no diss), and Jcole's (no diss either) someone in the majors like him is bound to stand apart. So my question stands is he really worthy of praise or is it just because he hasn't fell into that conformity people see him as so great.

And sad to say it being from the south, but when Atlanta, and New Orleans started making all party music and drug dealing music the bar got set on limbo last level.

he has grown on me immensely...

he has greatly improved his flow

and even though at times I STILL can't catch everything he saying?

Its like he so good he FORCES you to listen closely so you can catch his lyrics.

J Cole was never that great to me. I put him in the category of a Big Sean. Niggas aiiight. That's it.
now you sound real foolish, ain't no damn way big sean should be mentioned in the same category as j. cole.

j.cole is a way better rapper than big sean.

I swear this era is like when the NBA was searching for the next Jordan. Kendrick is on some Grant Hill shit and everybody is gassing it up. You read his lyrics on genius and it's so average. He spit it and the internet goes nuts. I think it's because he's anti-mumble rap but also anti-Drake.
