keep an eye on T-Mobile

..any updates on the pros and cons? I have Fios charging me $90/month just for internet and it looks like the speeds aren't even that great (test results below).

Meanwhile, I'm already a TM cell customer and they said if I up my phone plan to Magenta Max (extra $10/month) they would give me the home internet for $30/mo.

Here are my speed test results the other day for Fios:

..mind you, although there seems to be a huge difference in speed, it hasn't been an issue for what I need out of an internet connection... so if TM has a better product AND it's cheaper than its just icing on the cake.

I just need to know if I'm missing something. Anyone run Kodi and/or an Nvidia Shield on TM?

Appreciate the feedback in advance..

If you have great 5g cover in your area I would recommend it when I’m Downtown (Tampa) at work my speeds are insane, but at the house I only have like 2 bars of 5g and with 5 people in the house Streaming video and playing PS5 shit gets laggy. T mobile gives you a free 30 day trial id test it out especially getting those speeds and full bars

I had the TMobile internet for about 2 months... Price is great, but the signal was lacking... Decent download speed, but the upload speed was not good at all... My PS5 was lagging when I hopped online, but other than that I had no real issues... Decided to take it back until they improved the signal in my area... With how much I play games online that was a deal breaker for me
Yeah this if the signal was better in my area it would’ve been great

Thanks man. I'm in NYC and live dolo so it would be just me, my laptop and one TV at a time on the same joint. I went to the TM store yesterday and they tried to send me home with it but I wanted to ask around first.

They said to keep it closer to a window but the closest spot I have would be about 10 feet away. Has that been an issue for you?

Funny this convo came back around, I just spoke with a TMobile rep at Citrus Mall yesterday, buddy said they have strengthened the signal in Tampa and T-Mobile has new wifi devices they're sending out... Considering picking it back up, but I'm still wait a bit longer

Thanks for the heads up.. I'll ask about the new device to see if that's included now or later.

I told a few RF people about this two months ago if you are in a good signal area its great but outside of the big city limits this is where you run into problems with signals. They need to Build more sites outside of big city limits. I work for T-Mobile and I am giving them a chance because they are trying to straighten out a lot of issues and for the most part they have been doing a good job of it over the last four months. In some areas Sprint was a heaven sent am going to leave that right there.

I have come a long ways from the Nextel days….. The telecom industry is changing really fast right now. I had great skepticism about T-Mobile but they are finally starting to see the light on a few things. I will try to keep y’all updated. Sprint towards the end actually became a very good network……We had stabilize our customers at the time but we couldn’t get a lot of new customers so this is why T-Mobile came into the picture. Sprint did right the ship but it was too late…. But T-Mobile got the help they needed from sprint to proceed with interesting projects.

Verizon Just Launched a $30 Unlimited Plan Without the Usual Loopholes
if you use a lot of mobile data (and who doesn’t these days?), you might find yourself paying overage fees. There are some cheap cell phone plans that offer unlimited data, but they’re the exception, not the rule, and there are often restrictions and fine print that make these unlimited data plans less attractive in reality. For instance, unlimited data doesn’t always mean unlimited 5G data (or even 4G data), and so you have unlimited data that you don’t actually use.

This week, Verizon launched a new program to combat that particular problem called Welcome Unlimited, which offers unlimited 5G mobile data plus $800 toward the cost of a new phone. The new plan is designed to make it easier for people to switch from their existing provider to Verizon, and at a lower rate. In fact, it’s shaping up to become one of the best mobile offers of the year so far.
Why is Verizon rolling out a new $30 cell phone plan when it’s never marketed itself as a budget wireless company? We believe it’s due to the rise of DTC mobile carriers like Visible and Mint Mobile, which have some incredibly cheap plans and attractive offers for new customers. These DTC companies have used celebrity talent like Ryan Reynolds to aggressively target young and budget-conscious mobile shoppers.

Welcome Unlimited launched on July 12, and we’ve got all the details below on this new unlimited plan.
Switching to a new provider isn’t always easy. Sometimes you have to give up your phone or pay a fee. Here’s a quick rundown on what you can expect with Verizon’s Welcome Unlimited Plan:

  • Unlimited 5G mobile data
  • $30/line per month for four lines with Auto Pay
  • Keep your phone and get a $240 Verizon e-gift card per line (up to 12 lines)
  • Ability to keep your existing phone
  • Mix and match plans package streaming services

The Welcome Unlimited plan not only allows new customers to keep their existing phone, but Verizon will also provide a $240 gift card per line, for up to 12 lines. For a family of four, that’s $960, so you can imagine how attractive this might be for families shopping around. The card won’t arrive until the phone has been active for more than 45 days (to keep people from abusing the program), but once you receive the card, you can use it on what you want.

Verizon also offers several other attractive plans, including the 5G Get More, which includes subscriptions to Disney+, Hulu, Apple Music, Apple Arcade and more. Some people may favor this kind of package, since they would only have to pay one service — rather than having to pay for them individually. There’s also the 5G Start plan to consider, which provides 5GB of mobile hotspot data for free at $35/line per month.

Verizon has one of the widest-reaching networks in the country, and is quickly becoming the most popular mobile provider. If you’re looking to switch your mobile plan, the Welcome Unlimited plan is a great opportunity, especially considering how inflation has impacted people just about everywhere.

Listen I work for the cell phone company in and move around a lot that’s one reason why the Wireless portion is good for me. I work at four switches so I don’t need to be tied down by wire
I understand what you're saying. I mean specifically to home. I would like my device that is providing Internet to have a hardline connection going to it....whether thats fiber or coax.

T-Mobile is seriously pushing their hands.

... I went ahead and picked up the equipment for the trial. All hooked up hella easy. So far so good as far as the connection.

@TooTrilla The Gateway box itself is stand alone, but there are 2 ethernet jacks in the back so you can plug something like the shield or a gaming console or laptop directly into the unit.

So a few days in and I'm already sold on the TM service. Did a little bit of everything to test it out for what I do around the crib and it seems to be working well. I have it about 8 feet from a window, on top of a book case in the dead center of the apt. with no issues.

Also, I asked the lady at the store about any complaints/returns and she said some folks did so because of overheating and reception but neither have been an issue for me. It down poured for about an hour yesterday afternoon and it had no impact on my streaming connection while the UFC fights were on..

Now I'm trying to disconnect with Verizon and the CS is throwing bras and panties at me :smh: niggas won't let me just end my service! Trying to upgrade me to higher speeds at my current rate (more than double TM) AND charge me a $150 one time upgrade fee. FOH.

One Extremely Informative Video Bro. I know you have the Gateway device however, I'm going to purchased the 5G HotSpot device today. Was on the phone with a T-Mobile rep and they expressed that the main difference between the two items are the specialized dedicated towers for the Gateway as opposed to the 5G Hotspot being included with the main towers that our phone uses. You have the advantage over me while being stationery, I have the advantage while moving around. Once the Gateway device leaves that "specialized dedicated tower" to another location... the connection significantly changes.

Word ok, that makes sense. Will the 5G Hotspots be replacing the Gateway Towers eventually or do they both do different things for different setups?
