Greg Stiles former teacher at Cleveland School of the Arts (he also owned Heights Guitars in Cleveland) passed from pancreatic cancer. Everybody I hear that gets this type of cancer dies...and most of them fast. Do you know anybody who beat that type of cancer? Is this cancer the end all hope? I have heard of people beating other types but not this one.

I thinks Steve Jobs had it.

You have to catch it stage one... If you don't it has a high likely hood of spreading all over because the pancreas is connected to pretty much every gland in your body.

Michael Landon, Swayze, and I know there are several more. Gone. Swayze lasted the longest.

I don't know all the medical reasoning, but I knew someone who's grandmother had it and they gave 6 months and she was gone in 5. They even discouraged Chemotherapy.

I knew someone that passed from it. Actually caught it early enough to get it treated. Came back a year and a half later with a vengeance and got him.

Pancreatic Cancer is a very hard cancer to beat, for the simple fact, most of the signs that finally show up, means it is further along than doctors care to try to help you beat this thing. I only found out recently so much about it, due to my fight with Colon Cancer. While going through treatment for Colon Cancer, Doctors(Gastro & Oncologist)were baffled and worried I was showing signs of a 2nd cancer in my body, so of course went through a lot of scopes, dyes, scans, etc, and finally it was offical, that I wasn't fighting another even deadlier cancer, which was Pancreatic Cancer(same day Swayze died was the day I was told they would start running the scans for it). I'm just finishing my 2 fight with cancer and hopefully my last. Although, it is a relief that it is getting finished with, I still have a battle for the rest of my life.
Anyway, Pancreatic Cancer is high risk for us Black American men. Problem is as Black Americans in general, just never was big on seeing the doctors regularly for various reasons, we have to change this pattern. Only way to beat any type of cancer is through prevention and early detection.

C/S Impossible to detect early on. Only proactive thing to do is Know your complete family history, some forms are inheritable.

You can get gene testing to see if you are predisposed which will help in your checking up with your doctor.

Very true, and it's amazing how certain family members' illness finally starting coming to light, once I starting my life in and out of hospitals & Cancer centers. I know one thing, regardless how bad it gets for me, I always met someone else that was far worse than me, and would shake me back on the right track, away from that self pity crap.

I think Gene Upshaw was diagnosed on a Friday and was dead on a Monday. I might be wrong about the days, but I'm sure he was dead with 2-3 days of his diagnosis.

Thanks for the words EnSabahNur, and keep on fighting bruh. My teacher found out on January 26th that he had this type of cancer and he died February 8th. Man, that's quick. That's not even enough time to tie up loose ends. I can't imagine being to the point where you are out of time and pleading for more is futile. As the song goes, "Life like an hourglass glued to the table."

It generally gives no real symptoms until it's too late. Most people don't go for a checkup until they are starting to lose weight or notice major changes in their stool and by then it's too late. This is why it pays to get physicals done every year.
