Kevin Garnett Ordered to Pay $100,000 a Month in Child and Spousal Support

Kevin Garnett and his estranged wife are still fighting over money in their divorce but in the meantime, KG will be cutting her a hefty monthly check.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the former NBA star was ordered to pay Brandi Garnett $100,000 a month to cover both child and spousal support.

The order is only in effect until they hammer out a permanent deal.

As The Blast first reported, Brandi was seeking 46,000 a month in child support, estimating that she will have the kids 95% of the time. She was also asking for another $146,000 in spousal support and then another $300,000 to cover her legal fees.

In the new ruling, Brandi got the $300,000 she was asking for (of which KG has already paid $75,000) and an additional $225,000.

Brandi filed for divorce earlier this year. She is seeking physical custody of the former couple's two kids, Kapri and Kavalli.

Kevin filed his response to her divorce filing in February, asking for joint legal and physical custody of the kids.

He also asked the court to terminate spousal support for Brandi, citing a prenup the couple signed a month before the marriage.

Brandi is figthing the prenup, calling it "unconscionable" and arguing that Kevin violated the terms of the agreement.

She claims the prenup essentially stated that "almost everything would be his" and she would only receive "an initial payment of S500,000 or S1 million."

According to Brandi, Kevin was supposed to fund a joint account that was to be worth $12 million and that she would receive half if they ever part ways. She says the account had nearly nothing in it when they separated. Brandi believes that by not funding the account, he has breached the terms of the agreement.

Brandi also says the prenup called for her to receive no spousal support.

if what she saying is true, it sounds like she got grounds because he didn't do what he said he would.
Unless there was a written deadline for him to expect her to "part ways" why can't he just fund the "account with nearly nothing in it" NOW, give her her expected half and continue to follow the original prenup?

Had to look up how long they were married, 14 years. Geezus

If the prenup has it in there about the joint account agreement, then it could be viewed as him trying to be deceptive. Smh.

But if I had the loot, I would of gave my ex what she wanted as she was the mother of my kids. Now he went to court and the judge ordered him to give more than what she even asked for. That's nuts.

My issue is when you get into that court room, or go into a case, all your chit is made public and all finances has to be seen by her attorneys to be scrutinized by the judge.

When he sees all of what you got, he won't be lenient. $46,000 a month is child support, ain't enough Similac in the supermarket what would warrant a child need all that. That's crazy.

Just keep her happy and should of just settled with her outside of court.

Pre-nups are so weak especially to Judges in CA, a good divorce attorney can poke so many holes in them and they're thrown out all the time by Cali judges not worth the paper they're written on

Yeah, I would've went ahead and funded the account and threw in something extra and then created a Trust Fund for the child/children in one lump sum rather than having the Courts robbing me blind. After 14 years, I'd probably be willing to give her a third if I could get away with it.

I've heard NUMEROUS attorneys say prenups don't hold up in court, and that's why women are quick to sign them, because they know this too.
Yep.

A few reasons: if she was pressured, rushed into signing, didn't know what she was signing, no time for consideration prior to wedding, and false information, as in him hiding assets in this situation.

He had her for 14 years, two kids. Ain't no judge gonna leave her out to dry and I saw online he's worth between $120m to $300m, that's laughable.

If she gets what she wants why the fuck does he need to pay her lawyers? She should pay that out of the ridiculous amount that she'll be getting from KG.

You just broke the prenup by hiding assets. It's why a judge would not consider it any longer.

If they were together 3-5 years maybe and no kids. But 14 years and a 10 and 5 year old children?

Mayne... Cheapa to keep her.
Or at least keep her smiling.

No judge gonna have pity on a man like that.
It's just reality.

I've heard the same thing. But I've heard that videotaped prenup signings are supposed to hold up though.

Then what's the purpose of a prenup?

Sounds like it's only valid in a divorce only when a woman's getting what she wants? :dunno:

Found this:

But the only thing I see here that sort of makes the court of law cringe is the time they were together and children, then of course his assets and being a celeb plays a role.

If it was a normal couple, maybe, but that time thing is what has me. Most prenups, usually have a stipulation of 5 years written into it. But this is over many years as they have grown more popular, people have added this and that when getting married.

But what they were 14/15 years ago, was probably nothing as iron clad as today. Look at Janet's prenup.

It's like a civil matter, and when he went back on his word, it made it like a lawsuit. In those situations, loser pays the winner's law tab most of the time. He fucked up when he made it confrontational.

Not Just Cali either, you only hear it there because the salaries with the big earners are so high. Prenups are thrown out at-will in Metro-Atlanta courts all the time now too.

Fuck a pre-nup, only way to not get taken as a top paid athlete in divorce settlement is a wife that has even more assets than you. Currently, only Tom Brady and Gerard Pique have married wealthier women than them. So if you wanna marry, find a Gisele Bundchen or Shakira to marry like they did

Don't fall for the okey doke and marry these women when you are a multi million dollar athlete. No matter how much you "think" you are in love.
