After several rumored castings have come and gone, Deadpool 2 finally has its Cable. EW has confirmed that Josh Brolin has officially been cast as the time-displaced mutant for the much-anticipated superhero sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report the news, adding that Brolin has signed a four-picture deal. Since Brolin has already been playing galactic warlord Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, this casting makes him the second actor after Chris Evans to play two different Marvel characters for Marvel Studios and Fox. (Evans starred as Johnny Storm in the original Fantastic Four films and now plays Captain America.)

Both Nathan Fillion and Pierce Brosnan had been rumored for the part of Cable, whose inclusion in Deadpool 2 was first announced by Deadpool himself (Ryan Reynolds) in an after-credits scene from the first film.

Originally created by Louise Simonson and Deadpool creator Robert Liefeld, Cable is Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops and a clone of Jean Grey. After being sent into a post-apocalyptic future as a child, Cable grew into a battle-hardened mutant warrior with a metal arm and all his mom’s psychic powers. Starting in 2004, he has starred in a series of Cable and Deadpool comics, where he provides the stern straight man to the Merc with the Mouth’s constant antics.

Deadpool 2 is currently set for release in March 2018. Zazie Beetz has also been cast as the mutant Domino.

If they had placed to make FF2 (reboot version), this would be asking the same lines as Jordans roles.

How? He's Thanos and though it's been done before, the same person has never been casted simultaneously.

One has nothing to do with the other. Fox movies aren't part of the marvel cinematic universe. Thanos is a motion capture/voice acting job anyway...it's not like you will be actually seeing Brolin.

This... I don't see the big deal either.

I like Brolin.. he's a good actor and has good comedic timing as well, I feel like he'll probably work out well in the role opposite Reynolds #optimistic

I didn't even know he played Thanos and I still don't give a fuck. It is not like you can tell it is him.

The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe lays in the hands of Thanos. More accurately -- the hand of Thanos. As the villain makes his rounds through the cosmos and collects the Infinity Stones, assembling them into the Gauntlet he slipped onto his hand in the post credits scene of Avengers: Age of Ultron, he is quickly becoming the single most powerful being.

Charged with playing the part of the Mad Titan in the live-action adaptation is Josh Brolin.

Speaking to select members of the press at an Open House event at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige said Brolin is "killing it" as Thanos. The crew, currently filming Avengers: Infinity War in Scotland, has already shot "a good bit" of Brolin in the role.

Feige went on to discuss the importance of Thanos' entrance in Avengers: Infinity War. The goal was tot take audiences' breathe away from "his first minute" on the screen. Feige emphasized his point by saying, "And he does."

It's good news for anyone who thought Brolin joining the Deadpool films as Cable might affect his time as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Feige is only supportive of his additional role and another Marvel Comics character. The President of Marvel Studios, an entity with zero ties to 20th Century Fox's Deadpool products, is confident Brolin will excel in the role. "I think he'll make one hell of a Cable," Feige said.

Deadpool 2 is set to begin production in June. Avengers: Infinity War will be roughly four months into production on its back to back shoot of what was once called Infinity War Part I and Part II. As for the title of the fourth Avengers film and direct sequel to Infinity War, Feige would like to hold on to the surprise for as long as possible.

Still on Marvel Studios' slate ahead of Avengers: Infinity War are Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black Panther.

Fuck it, he'll probably kick ass in the role. He's also one of the most likeable dudes in Hollywood... props, hope he pulls it out
