Jack or Heath Who was the better Joker???:confused::confused::confused:

not even a competition. Heath changed the game for comic book villains.

As many said Jack was just being Jack just with make up.

While Heath's Joker was something you read from Frank Miller's Dark Knight Return. He felt Batman completed him. The Joker didn't mind dying as long as it corrupted Batman. Hell he was laughing thinking he was falling to his death. Also Alan Moore's Joker from Killing Joke how he tried to show it took one bad day for someone to end up like him.

Jack Joker's was chasing pussy. Heath's Joker was chasing chaos. What made Joker one of the best villains in history was his unpredictable nature. Heath's Joker best represented that. Putting a gun to his own head. Burning a pile of cash. I could keep going but Heath has this.

Jack was basically doing Jack, dressed as The Joker. Heath Ledger became a whole different (unrecognizable) person from himself and became The Joker... unlike any other version of The Joker we've seen. Quite simply Heath (hands down) raised the bar to the degree where they're talking about retirind The Joker from the series altogether. Where as, Jack Nicholas' portrayal left room for Heath Ledger to step up on and make it his own. This isn't even a debatable issue IMO. The winner is...

yea I was reading that too. That Warner Bros was considering doing that. Saying rumblings were that no actor would want to touch that role after what he did. Nolan went as far to say Heath is his Joker, end of story no recasting.

Safe bet would be Johnny Depp, or secondarily, Jude Law. But the question in my mind is, all hings considerred, was Heath really that great of an actor or just a very good actor hopped up on dope to pull off that performance? :dunno:

They were 2 entirely different films.

they were basically playing different characters.

Both actors brought good work to the characters their scripts provided

I couldn't have said it better.

Only those really stuck on a nostalgia tip are saying Jack. Jack did his thing, but Heath completely embodied what the Joker was all about. Whoever said, "Heath's Joker wasn't that funny, so I'm rollin' with Jack's take on the character," completely missed the point of the Joker character.:hmm:

health killed it, jack handled business, and im sure some people will harp on it, but flat out health was better, and while watching this joint, i was like damn, it's fucked up he's dead, cause this was the movie that was gonna put him really up there

The fact that even without makeup I doubt anyone would be able to recognize Ledger as The Joker makes a strong case for him being a great actor. Honestly, did anyone ever feel like they were watching Heath Ledger when they saw The Dark Knight? I know I didn't (and actually expected I would). For all Heath put into the role to pull off that incredible performance, I think it is time to let all hate aside and just give props.

This shouldn't even be an issue.
Now.
Anymore.

Ledger (under Nolan's direction) has MADE a character that went way beyond it's comic book origins. Nolan played on the current state of the real world, one in which The Joker's existence could be possible. And that was some realistic, scary shit.

But I still feel that missed props go to Aaron Eckhart. That Dude's transformation to Two-Face (though a little quick) was just as realistic. Eckhart played Dent out.:yes::yes:

how people talking about jack version of the joker made it seem like he wrote the script. Diff day and age, Movies back then couldnt been as sick as this with out being like nc-17 which would cut the amount of people who could see it.

they both did their thing and wait in another 15 20yrs when they re-do the movies again and you see how sick the next joker is

No doubt. I'm very glad I didn't read much about the storyline before seeing the film because, although I knew Dent was in this film, I had NO IDEA that he'd turn to Two-Face prior to seeing it. That was a very welcome surprise and, had Heath not been in this film, I'd say he OWNED this film. Very very great performance. It took a jaw-dropping performance by Ledger to outshine both Eckhart & Bale.

Heath was waaay better IMO. I always thought the joker was kind of corny, as well as most of Batman's villians. But Heath made you respect his gangster, while staying true to the character.

That is true. Two different films and to be honest I notice that I can't even watch any of the early Batman films anymore. As someone said when Batman Begins came out finally they got it right.

Batman 1989 was a good film but the whole Batman killing people and a lot of other things that was out of character.

I'm not saying Jack didn't do a good job with the role but the question is which actor best represented the Joker true nature the best and as Deltronz said if u know who Joker is you know Heath has this.

You are also right Heath did have a great script too but he added certain things. The whole "You complete me" scene while he was being interrogated for example. Nolan said it was not plan for him to do a parody of the famous scene from Jerry Maguire where Tom Cruise told Renee she complete him. Heath freestyle a lot of things in the dark knight but he did have a helluva script though.
