Former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. was diagnosed on Friday with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, his office said in a statement on Sunday.

The diagnosis came after Mr. Biden reported urinary symptoms, which led doctors to find a “small nodule” on his prostate. Mr. Biden’s cancer is “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement said.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” according to the statement from Mr. Biden’s office, which was unsigned. “The president and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

Mr. Biden, 82, left office in January as the oldest-serving president in American history. Throughout his presidency, Mr. Biden faced questions about his age and his health, which ultimately led him to abandon his re-election campaign.

Since leaving office, Mr. Biden has largely kept a low profile, spending most of his time in Delaware and commuting to Washington to meet with staff to plan his post-presidential life. After President Trump passed the 100-day mark, and ahead of the release of books about his presidency and the 2024 campaign, Mr. Biden participated in interviews to push back against claims that he suffered from mental decline.

“They are wrong,” Mr. Biden said during an interview on “The View.” “There’s nothing to sustain that.”

He also said that he could have defeated Mr. Trump had he not dropped out of the race.

Still, many top Democrats have been forced to reckon with their staunch support of Mr. Biden’s re-election campaign before a disastrous debate last June, in which he appeared disoriented and listless. After dropping out, Mr. Biden endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, who lost to Mr. Trump.

Adding fuel to the fire was the release this weekend of the audio from Mr. Biden’s 2023 interview with Robert K. Hur, the special counsel who investigated his handling of classified documents. Axios published the full five-hour tape ahead of the Trump administration’s plans to release it this week, and it reveals Mr. Biden’s fragile voice and his difficulty providing dates and details.

Mr. Hur ultimately declined to recommend charges against Mr. Biden in part because, he said, a jury would find the president to be a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

In February 2024, when Mr. Biden was still president, his longtime doctor declared him “fit to serve” after he underwent a routine physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Mr. Biden and his family have faced numerous health challenges throughout their lives. In 1988, Mr. Biden battled two brain aneurysms that threatened to end his political career. His son Beau died in 2015 from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

When Mr. Biden was asked in January, shortly before leaving office, whether he would have had the vigor to serve another four years, he said he did not know.

“Who the hell knows? So far, so good,” he said in an interview with USA Today, shortly before leaving office. “But who knows what I’m going to be when I’m 86 years old?”

Bet he’s had it a while, but he wanted to best Trump so they hid it. He had a good run; and been through more than many can stand. He’s got 6 months or so before it worsens. They says he’s at a “9” out of 10 of severity. Make this last hit count.

At that age I probably won’t treat it and just take medication to ease my transition because at 82 I probably only would have maybe 8 years anyway

I'll mention this again since I am a prostate cancer survivor.
As soon as you start having urinary problems, in particular frequent urination ( peeing more than twice per hour or getting up multiple times a night to pee), and difficulty emptying your bladder, go get check out ASAP!!
Prostate cancer can be beat if caught early and you are in decent physical shape.

Most likely the reason the real reason he dropped out of the race… he still should have continued, win it and then hand it over to Harris that would have been the best course of action.

If you want to go full conspiracy, if he was aware of it that far back, this was probably the info they used to push him out. A cancer revelation after all of the hedging the leadership was already doing after the first debate would have been a campaign death sentence.

I predicted something like this based on actuary tables from SSA. Where you get cancer and the organ that kills you are usually different. He might get liver cancer when it spreads.

You are waiting to die watching your body slowly deteriorate.

His mental health was in decline before 2016. The Democrats hid that fact until after the last election. But a reporter discovered info a little bit after the 2016 election. That Bidens mental health was dog shit.

You niggaz feeling sorry for this bastard are a bunch of suckers. His ass was the one who authored the 1994 crime bill that locked so many niggaz up. He was for keeping his community segregated from black kids. He spoke against reparations for FBA/Ados. He was against compensation for the Tulsa race massacre survivors. So now I’m suppose to feel sorry for this sucker? Fuck him and you fools who feel for him.

You fools love people who pretend to like you.

President Joe Biden is widely credited with assembling the most diverse cabinet in U.S. history. I really think Biden's cabinet was the smartest and most driven cabinet ever assembled and Joe didn't have to do a thing. The US really fucked up by putting Trump at this position and will have major consequences for everyone.

You are going to wish for a heart attack once it starts metastasizing.

You are watching everybody live carefree while you going down slowly, bed ridden.

He might not be around for his presidential library, Obama still working on his.

If he had dementia during his 4 years, he got good things done for the country. He got more done in 4 years than drumpf could ever do in a lifetime.

Former President Biden diagnosed with ‘aggressive form’ of prostate cancer

Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer, a spokesman announced Sunday.

The diagnosis was revealed after doctors found a “small nodule” on Biden’s prostate that “necessitated further evaluation” during a physical exam earlier this month.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” read a statement from Biden’s personal office issued Sunday. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement went on. “The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

The 82-year-old’s longtime physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor deemed Biden “fit to serve” in February 2024 after the then-presumptive Democratic nominee underwent a routine examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Biden had a cancerous skin lesion removed from his chest after a physical in February, 2023, which turned out to be basal cell carcinoma. However, O’Connor said “all cancerous tissue was successfully removed” and no further treatment was required.

News of his prostate cancer diagnosis comes amid a firestorm of allegations that the erstwhile Biden administration and members of his inner circle knowingly hid his physical and cognitive decline from the American public.

Among the conversations allegedly had behind closed doors by those closest to him were serious discussions of having Biden use a wheelchair during his second term in office if he prevailed in the election, according to a new book “Original Sin,” penned by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson.

Biden’s cancer diagnosis came just two days after Axios released bombshell audio from a series of interviews the former president held with special counsel Robert Hur in October 2023, pursuant to an investigation into classified documents he improperly had in his possession.

In the recordings — which the White House vehemently refused to release last year as rumors of his failing mental acuity swirled — Biden at times slurred his speech and couldn’t remember details about his own life including when his term as vice president ended, when his son Beau died, and what year President Trump was elected.

Trump wrote a brief message of support for his former rival on Truth Social shortly after his diagnosis was announced.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” he wrote.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris — who controversially took Biden’s place as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee — also delivered a message of condolence on social media.

“Doug and I are saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time,” Harris wrote on X.

“Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery.”

Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer among men in the US, according to the American Cancer Society, which says that approximately one in eight men will be diagnosed at some point in their lifetime.

About 80% of men in their 80s will have “some degree” of protstate cancer, the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Dallas estimates.
