sadly not only is gun control an issue with civilians
but some of these agents of the state shouldn't be allowed guns either.
We need to have this much passion for ALL gun crime

this is a lot to type so im going to try to make it brief.Here is my reasoning behind the civilian possession of a large capacity magazine style rifle. (laying the foundation for my scenario) The term assault rifle is a misnomer and guns are a tool, just like a hammer. the key problem to your argument is that criminals dont obey the law. they will do whatever they want. during prohibition, alcohol was legal. Criminals still found a way to manufacture, distribute, and consume alcohol. drugs are C1/C2 narcotics are illegal in this country, yet, miraculously, they still find a way to get into this country and to our communities. actual scenario: if someone break into your home with your family and you only have a legal 9mm pistol with 17 rounds and they have an AK47. odds are you will lose. if they break into your home with a 9MM pistol and you have an AK47, odds are, they will lose. if both parties have ak47s then homefield advantage shifts the odds in your favor assuming all tings being equal. Now i will tell you as a person who has personally face the business end of an ak 47....there is no way for you to beat criminals with lesser fire power than they have. i have learned through hard earned real life experience that superior firepower beats everything and timing in a real gunfight matters...reloading costs milliseconds which costs lives in a real gunfight. i have personally seen police officers take fully automatic ak47s from criminals who never should have had them bc they are illegal. In a perfect world, the law would work for al people equally ad protect them. but we do not live in a perfect world. we live in a world where YOU are responsible for the safety and well being of your family, not the cops, not the law, and no one else will fight for your family like you would. I will never ever succeed an advantage to anyone that would threaten my family no matter who they are. if there are coming at me with a pistol i want a battle rifle, if they come at me with a rifLe, i want a machine gun. I want the very best protection that I can harness for my family's protection. Most people who say that civilians should never have "assault rifles" didnt read the second amendment very carefully. THESE TYPE OF WEAPONS ARE TO BE USED AS A LAST DEFENSE EFFORT AGAINST TYRANNY..not hunting, not sport shooting. if you dont think there are evil people in this world that will kill you, your family, and others without a thought, then you are incredibly naive and sheltered...you are lucky bc you dont believe and may have never seen that level of violence but for those of us who have, rest assured, that people who dont believe in gun violence are protected by those of us who do and have seen it up close and personal. the only way to stop that measure of violent malevolent force is equal force in the hands of a just individual who is armed and trained to use it. long story short: its simple mathematics. 18 = 18, 30 > 18, in a one for one round exchange, you will lose. my family means too much to me to take that chance and not meet a threat with equal, if not overwhelming counter force should the need arise. Ill listen to any argument regarding gun violence but we need to address the issue of the people using the weapons. if you outlaw the possession of civilian gun ownership then you just unleveled the life changing playing field to the advantage of those who would not obey they law. I had AR15 before i sold it (upgrade to a bigger round), i wish i never did bc i see more and more everyday how unstable the world is becoming and unreliable our assigned legal system is. The truth is, people who would cry..outlaw these weapons, most have never faced an individual armed with intent to kill you using those same weapons that you just took out of the hands of the person who could have saved you. you might not believe in God or the second amendment but at 3AM when 2 armed criminal break into your home, you WILL CALL SOMEONE WITH A GUN AND PRAY that they get there in time.

Sounds like you may want to move to a better zip code as well! I agree with most of what you've said about gun ownership. I have 3 myself and will likely buy a few more. But taking yourself out of the line of fire is more effective then getting tooled up and laying in wait for a home invasion. I've always had guns, but I've also always been very discriminating about where I call home. As black people we should all be experts on finding that social sweet spot that keeps us up out of the hood, barrio, trailer park, etc. but away from racist crackas that don't want us around. Those are the two biggest enemies of black people that just want to live right.

I had that same passion about the Charleston massacre and Newtown school shooting. I think he's serious or getting there now.

Re the world's becoming more unstable, violent crime is WAY down vs 30 years ago in virtually every category. So the increasing societal instability necessitating firearm ownership is something you fear inside your head, but that is not borne out by the numbers.

Most of them have eliminated guns all together in their society..ALL TOGETHER IN THEIR SOCIETY... we in america can not and do not have the courage to take that drastic step....ALSO their governments typically have reasonable leadership and an education system that supercedes ours where there populace are educated esp in a cultural sense geared towrd the common good with common sense. find 1 freaking place in america where this is so. You are talking to a veteran who has traveled the world over including germany, australia, britain, netherlands, europe and the middle east.

^^^your post merits consideration by the numbers but does not take into account human nature and psychology which is why I can cosign your POV. i have seen people get slaughtered bc they did not have the means to defend themselves. running up in a gunfight with a knife or a hammer is not a good idea no matter how fast or skilled your are. yours numbers/data sets have never had that experience...i can guarantee you that. terefore, i chose to maintain my POV based on actual experience and not merited out by theory and numbers. sorry if i come across heated, it is meant as no disrespect. i am just appalled by the degree to which people who havent had these experiences simply brush over them with broad strokes. no disrespect is intended.
Nope brother i have a great neighborhood. nearly every person on my street is either a active duty military or a veteran. LOL. we often joke about who would get the first shot off if there was some BS happening.. I have a sign in my back yard that say, if you can read this, you are in range...LOL. BUT my neighbor across the street got us all beat (.338 Lupua with a thermal imaging scope) saw him at the range with a great big grin when he was bulleyeing targets at 1k yards. LOL. plus he can see heat signatures at night. leaves you with no where to hide and he can track your footsteps anywhere on cold ground at night due to the heat differential.
i got a retired marine on my right, 2 army across the street, and on the left and behind. so we all look out for each other. everybody got alarm systems and security cameras, some hidden in plan sight. across the street guy has a camera inside the bird house at the property corner. he takes his security very seriously bc he works at night and his wife is freaked out by everything that creeps , moves, howls, or crows....LOL. she good people though. its just that when you have seen the type of malevolent things we have, you dont take chances with the precious things in your world (family). i thought i was bad with things until the marine corp guy got a tracking device for his daughters car and she is over 30. but after the kidnappings in the next city over, he said fuck the dumb shit and wants to know the whereabouts of his only child 24/7. maybe a little extreme but we all have seen the worst case scenario with the intent of doing all that we can to deter, prevent, or mitigate the BS if it ever comes our way.
we get together for street meeting to discuss neighbor hood concerns and share ideas. all i can tell you is that if you come to our neighborhood with that shootem up, ruckus mayhem and chaos...you will be delivered into the waiting arms of whatever afterlife you believe in with the swiftness.
Irrespective of your assuptive assessment of my life experience, I will say that I get your point, and better safe than sorry definitely has its merits.
Your assertion, were it true, would render data worthless across the board. If the human factor canceled everything out, virtually no data would matter. You're dug in, as is your right, and I get that. But just as you ask me to bet on something, all things being equal, as a tactician faced with any decision, you would base ssid decision on probability of preferred outcome. Your philosophy contains it's own refutation, in a way.
I get what you're saying, it's just that logically your suggestion would lead to arming every American to the teeth, and no way I think that you believe that would lead to LESS gun violence.

Yeah USA TODAY has an article with all the data that America is basically the most violent modern country on the planet and its not even close. And every time a mass shooting happens Americans go out and buy more guns. They are more guns in this country than people.

This black mayberry bgol longs 4 sounds like them cacs with the good ole days. Its always been about economics and the education level of the neighborhood for me. I want my nephew who is turning a year soon to play without worry. Brehs haven't been honest about the troubles within the community elders can't rest in peace on the porch. A sista can't sleep in without some sick breh breaking in. U can give 20 an hour careers and sadly things will still happen.
