My $0.02:

It's not so much WHAT Bill Cosby said. What he said was old news to the black community.
It is WHO he said it too.
Thats what you call putting FORM over SUBSTANCE.

Do you think the ones he is trying to reach and change are in the audience?????

- Do you think the ones it was aimed at heard him ??? If so, the message
was received. If not, why all the fuss; if they didn't hear it, then their
feelings weren't hurt, they can't feel put down or feel that the some elite
mofo was just shitting on them, again.

I remember the other thread where you said something to the effect that in
making his statements before a college audience -- the students must have,
in effect, felt bad. I still don't get that one. What are those shielded-from
the-real-world babies doing in college - wasting good money? College is a
place to learn, experience, be challenged in thought, challenge the thoughts
of others ... and grow from it all. If they were embarassed by what Cosby
said, they should have challenged him on it. They didn't.

But back to your quote above,

When the a president, sec. state, etc., make statements in press conferences
about other nations (i.e., Russia, China, Iran, etc.), they aren't in a meeting
with them -- but do you think the message is meant for them and, more
importantly, do you think they get/hear that message ???

"When the a president, sec. state, etc., make statements in press conferences

Head of states have whole depts to address press conferences and rebuttals, so that is the correct forum to address other head of states.

Stop playing games and admit it. It was the wrong forum for Cosby!!!

Answer my question and we will move forward (not answering a question with another question as you are known to do).

Brother,

I can't say it was the wrong forum, simply because "the ones he is trying to reach", as you put it, were not predominant in the audience. I say that honestly because I don't know what was in Cosby's mind when he chose the forum he did.
- Was Cosby trying to start a mindset or an awareness among us - not only in the "ones he was trying to reach" - but in the masses which would continously reinforce the message ??? To that extent, maybe he was reaching the ones he wanted to reach.

I don't know - but you have to admit saying it when and where he did created a stir: it got people talking; it got people thinking; and it got people debating on both sides of the issue (i.e., witness us, Dyson, etc.).

Its form over substance to over emphasize WHERE the message was delivered instead of being concerned with WHAT the message says. In my opinion, the focus should be on WHAT HE SAID rather than WHERE HE SAID IT. Whether Cosby was right or wrong, it doesn't matter where he said it -- because it won't make him any more right or any more wrong.

Oh no....

Bull Cosby gets ANOTHER chance to spout his sermon of classism/separatism to other willing self-haters (look in the mirror) who would love nothing more than to point fingers at their shortcomings at the least likely to defend themselves...much like the bully(middle class Blacks) who WON'T challenge the real bully (Whitey) but will run over to the innocent bystander (lower class Blacks) because you have to bully someone.... :hmm:

The Black youth that Bull Cosby browbeats are:

(1.) graduating high school at the highest rate of Black American history.

(2.) are having the least teenaged pregnancies in the last 40 years.

(3.) are attending college at the highest levels in the history of Black America....

Unfortunately someone has to take the blame for the lack of Black businesses in America and it's the poor...who aren't what is known as a "Talented Tenth" of any note.

Someone has to take the blame for the $600 billion Black GNP that gets donated to White corporate America every year....

That someone is the lower class Blacks...as if they somehow became middle class then there would be all-Black businesses in all-Black neighborhoods that recycle Black dollars in that neighborhhod like every other ethnic group.

It is truly sad, bordering pathetic, how Black people who have "the littles"...a "little" education, a "little" career, a "little" house, a little car can actually think that they aren't AT LEAST equally responsible for the handbasket in which Black America is going to hell....

I, in sound mind and heart, dutifully submit a quote from Bill Cosby himself..
For those who say Cosby is just an elitist who's "got his" but doesn't, understand the plight of the black poor, he reminds us that,
"We're going to turn that mirror around. It's not just the poor, everybody's guilty.

Then he should callout "everybody" not just those that can't respond to him at a similar level of forum.

What? Is he scared to go after the big fish???????

"it got people talking; it got people thinking; and it got people debating on both sides of the issue (i.e., witness us, Dyson, etc.)."

You proved my point..........

The people he is talking about probably still don't know that he said anything. Those he described as being single parents with 4 children etc.. You think they have time to sit around and discuss Cosby?
You think the neighborhood drug dealer is switching on the TV to see a program about Bill Cosby in Spellman?

Come on man..........

My family has worked in social work all our lives and you don't abuse the ones you are trying to reach. It is known that you won't reach everybody.......

There are a lot of systematic things that still need working on and he could have dedicated himself to one of these.

Picture Martin Luther King Jnr going to some college and tearing down (cause surely Cosby wasn't lifting upwith his choice of words) those blacks who did not identify with him and the struggle.
It does little good............

No, you come on. We're just going round and round with the same points of disagreement. You keep saying its WHERE Cosby said what he said and I keep maintaining that its WHAT he said that is important. Now, you want to move from WHERE he said it being an issue to WHETHER THEY (the people he was trying to reach) HEARD IT being the issue. Come on,

Isn't the real issuse whether what Cosby said is true ??? If its not true, then we all need to tell Cosby to STFU! If it is true, then maybe the issue should be how do we best get at the problem? It doesn't escape me that most opposed to what Cosby said are focusing on "His" character/personality instead of what he said.

My family has worked in social work all our lives and you don't abuse the ones you are trying to reach. It is known that you won't reach everybody.......

And that makes you an Expert ??? Just stick with what YOU know.

There are a lot of systematic things that still need working on and he could have dedicated himself to one of these.

As I said, a lot of people are focusing on the MAN instead of the message. You want to tell Cosby what he should be doing -- because you don't like what he said. Frankly, I don't like what he said -- but if its true, somebody has to say it and we have to hear it, otherwise, its out of sight and out of mind.

Picture Martin Luther King Jnr going to some college and tearing down (cause surely Cosby wasn't lifting upwith his choice of words) those blacks who did not identify with him and the struggle.
It does little good............

Still focusing on the MAN instead of the message and now you want to compare Coz to MLK. :smh:

Sometimes a man needs to be praised for the things he is doing right; but sometimes a man needs to be told, what he is doing wrong so that he can get his house in order --- thats about uplifting.

BTW, did Malcom coddle those who disagreed with him ???

Also, unless you want to focus on what he said, I've tired of the circular bullshit.

Yes [ ]

No [ ]

Maybe so [ ]

Check one....
:smh: :smh: :smh: Still tyring to focus the issue on Cosby -- instead of what he said.

Now thats what I call a real Sellout. A man selling out to his bitch side (allowing emotions, hate, fear of others, jealousy, disdain for someone you don't even know to cloud your judgment) instead of using his intellect (the ability to reason rationally, theability to recognize and accept the fact that there may be a problem, the ability to accept self-criticism for what it is).

What if Malcom X had said the exact same thing ??? Would it make the statement any more true or any more false. Didn't think so. It ain't who said it -- its whether the statement is true or not.

Your poll reminds me of someone who has been bitch-slapped by a mofo; and now trying to urge someone else go slap the mofo back for you (by urging other posters to vote for or against what Cosby said). Go slap him yourself. That is -- show Cosby right here in this forum where his statements (the slap across your face) is untrue -- by slapping the shit out of him with the objective facts to disprove what he said.
