To some degree but income inequality is really what's killing Retail. When people have it they spend it. The last 30yrs in the age of the Frozen wage Americans tend to have a lot of credit but little cash. Debt but no savings. So this means less trips to places like JC PENNEY or Sears and instead we are going to Walmart or other discount retailers. We go cheap and fill our homes with "Affordable" furniture appliances and clothes that seldom last longer than it takes to pay them off. Our Parents or in some cases Grandparents made less but seem to have had more. When they went shopping for food they went to grocery stores when they wanted furniture or appliances they went to Dept stores. Yes there were thrift stores and such but fewer Americans went there 40 years ago. Today many of us are buying clothing, groceries, furniture and electronics all in the same store. The old guard Retail have to adapt but this a symptom of a deeper problem in our economic system.

Kinda true!!! But it runs deeper than that!! The whole retail bubble is crumbling right in front of our faces!! The one retail business doing good is dollar general stores. Oh yeah, there's a LOT of people outta work. Don't go by those numbers the government is putting out and believing what mainstream media is putting in our face!! Those number are manipulated to keep the masses in their trance. When 50% of Americans are making under 30k a year. That should tell everyone this economy isn't in good shape at all!! Anyway, Penney isn't the only retail chain in trouble. They all are!! If it hasn't hit ur area yet, get ready because it's coming!!
 
Vid is 3 months old though... Since then I thought the company said they wouldn't be closing as many stores... I agree that Amazon is killing everyone I spent years working at Borders during the last decade of their demise. Funny I remember all my white coworkers scoffing at the notion of taking Amazon seriously...Until they gutted my company... Retail is not a secure profession and I'm really glad to have gotten out
