I give (present tense) to these youngstas here in L.A. There was a thread around here about artists in your city. I downloaded the L.A.U.S.D. mixtape and I was pleasantly surprised. Now a lot of the rappers (notice I dropped the "(c)") on the tape are very good, good enough to quit their day jobs. So yes, I do give props to current talent provided they are talented.

Now niggas these days confuse talent with popularity. That's all hip hop is these days, a popularity contest, because these (c)rappers for damn sure ain't spittin anything clever, fuck having a command over these English language, these niggas can't even get Ebonics right.

So jay electronica is more popular because he knows the right people, but is he talented? FUCK NO.

I'm in my early 30s. If you are older than I then shame on you. And this ain't about living in the past. How can you come up in arguably the peek of Black music and give props to this trash today?

1) These niggas today have NO COMMAND OVER ANY LANGUAGE. They are literally making bodily noises and passing it off as rhyming.

2) These niggas can't play ANY INSTRUMENTS.

3) These niggas have no concept of arrangements. Every song these days sound like a mashup cluster fuck of marching band/friday the 13th horror music with no relief.

Jay is an above average rapper by far, I'm a hip-hop head, so I know a good rapper when I hear one. He is the only new rapper I'm even checking for, but his buzz is near zero now. I heard his album is still dropping this year.

Like i said i agree with you on the wayne,gucci,etc...

but we are not talking about a host of people/rappers here,am talking about jay electronica.to compare jay with some of these other rappers you mention is nonsense.(i recommend listening to his mixtape again)

I don't like Blu's flow. He was on that L.A.U.S.D. mixtape with J*Davey, he fucked up the song IMO.

This shit does happen tho, I got a stack of decent poetry written by this crazy old man that frequents the library my uncle works at. It's like photocopies and printouts of poems at least 200 pages... The thought did cross my mind, but that would be a clear violation of that mans passion/art. Id rather toil and write my own shit.
