I remember reading a book by an NBA legend and he was talking about the attributes necessary to be even a marginal NBA talent. He talked about this player who he described as 'superhumanly athletic', but he lacked the ability to grasp even the simplest plays. As useful as he could have been, his basketball IQ was horrible, and they had to release him. He then went on to say there have been a no. of players over the years that had incredible physical gifts that prevented them from being in the NBA, or being anything more than a benchwarmer or role player because they lacked basketball IQ that much.
Well, Javale McGee has stuck around, and has gotten playing time, so maybe he's not as dumb as he appears? Maybe its more of a case of him having brief mental lapses at times. I'm just trying to help spin the narrative, because if you look at some of this dude lapses you'd swear this dude eats crayons and sniffs glue.
