Her side lost in 2016 but Michelle Obama was right. It's not a 100% of the time rule but "when they go low we go high" is the smarter approach long-term. There's another saying that applies: “Never wrestle with a pig in the mud because you'll both get dirty and the pig likes it.” A pig got elected president and now everyone thinks mud wrestling is the only way. But it isn't.

Democrats have had subpar candidates since Barack Obama. Obama wouldn't have to make fun of disabled Republicans to compete today. The answer is not to be like Trump, it is to be better! People forget because of Trump but you really can be a good person and stand for what's right and still win.

It's not a straight up comparison because of population increases. Especially 2020 with vote-by-mail-- it's apples and oranges. Trump and Biden got more votes than anybody because there were more voters and it was easier to vote than ever. Can't compare those totals to Obama, Clinton, Lincoln, etc.

You're right that Trump is not the only clown out there. But he beat a woman who Republicans had been attacking for 30 years and had made the most unpopular Democratic nominee ever and another woman who was terrible at interviews and only had 100 days to campaign because the senile president stayed in the race too long and put the party in a bad position. A decent Democratic candidate could and should have won those elections.
