Update: Club date preview of a new song.

Just got the update on FB. They're in the studio putting the finishing touches on their 8th album.

I hope he FINALLY releases Midnight Funk and the entire "unheard / unreleased" album he basically he had to scrap when Stuart Zender left the group. That album is gold because it was made during the peak creative period.:D

On the production of his fourth album, Stuart Zender left the band. The reasons have said to been the birth of his daughter and that he and Kay did not get along anymore. Some fans have speculated that Zender was fired by the band's record label. Consequently, Kay scrapped almost a complete album's worth of work to eliminate from the album of all traces of Stuart Zender's playing.

If Zender isn't on the Bass...can't say that I'm excited. I'll give it a listen but those first three albums was the sound that I loved. After that it wasn't the same...glad to hear he's still doing it though.

That's what I'm talking about!! I keep some Jamiroquai in the changer. Now...if someone would just convince Lewis Taylor to return to the music scene....:dunno:

Damn.

With both Sade and Massive Attack dropping releases next week,
This Jamiroquai joint scheduled to be released this year,
And newbies like Corinne Bailey Rae getting attention,
Brit-Soul appears to be coming back with a vengeance.

Black American artists need to step up their musical game.

good and bad news Zender is nice....

Although Stu is a good friend of mine, I have to admit, Paul Turner is more than adequate. Paul's an amazing bassist.

I never knew Jamiroquai has a good following on bgol....cant wait for the album to drop though

Run a search bruh - you'll find a quite a bit of Jamiroquai stuff on here.

Well, I have a suspicion this album will contain alot of the Zender flavored tracks from the 4th album that got scrapped when Zender pulled out.

Damn.

TRUTH. Usher, RKelly, Trey Songz, all dem cats better wake up and smell the roses. It's BAD when the best R&B/Soul album last year was Chico Debarges.

What's Stu doing now? I mean we never got the straight story on what happened and why he left Jamiroquai at the height of their success - but man - I don't know how you can walk away from a gravy train like that. :smh:

I don't know about the other dudes in the band, but I've seen Jay-K's garage and that alone tells me Jamiroquai might be in the Top-5 grossing bands that came out since the 80's. Literally
U2 - Metallica - Jamiroquai - ??? - ???

Long story short, Stu should have gotten more writing credits than he got on the TWM album (it was later rectified). Also, the fact that he and Jason butted heads on a daily basis didn't help. It pains me to say this, but Stu can be a dildo at times, and after a while, that shit gets old. Especially when you have an egotistical person like Jason leading the band. Btw, this wasn't the first time Stu quit, but this is the first time they called his bluff. From my point of view, neither expected the other to follow through on their threat. Stu actually has a project that's coming out soon. He's also been doing a lot of producing and studio work.

Yeah, I heard he was boarding and producing a lot of stuff behind the scenes.

Sorry to hear him and Jay couldn't co-exist, but 90% of the time that happens when you have two people who are the majority of the talent and strong willed types in a group.

Beatles (Jon vs Paul), Oasis (Gallaghers), The Wailers (Bob vs Peter)......

I understand, but the band has put out some equally if not better music post Stu..

Brit soul has always been the standard.

Brit soul has always been the standard.

That's where you're wrong.

American R&B/Soul/Funk was the standard to follow for decades.

British Peeps didn't start getting attention until the mid 80s with Soul2Soul, Central Line, Imagination, and EyE Level, and Loose Ends. Along with some White Cats like George Michael, Lisa Stansfield, Swing Out Sister, etc.

That's when Brits started becoming the "standard".

:yes:I agree 95%!!! The other 5% is that I think they still had some good joints after Zender left but not quite the same. There's something about a band's true chemistry when one of the founding members leaves. I was just listening to "Traveling..." at work and explaining to a customer how their magic was gone even though the music was still good.

I'll have to really give him a listen. Judging from the response of the last few albums, he filled in fine. I remember listening to Zender riff on "Mr. Moon," "Space Cowboy" or "Emergency on Planet Earth." I used to always say "white boy's got pluck!"

Any standouts from Paul I should check for?

Hope so. I did get a copy of Zender's group Azur which was supposed to be a supergroup with De'angelo included. If I can find the link I'll post it here.

yeah...I discovered them at Space Cowboy and then went backwards to find Emergency...When Traveling dropped, I still felt the sound was there, but geared and pitched just a little differently. Once he departed, I remember hearing Canned Heat and a few other tracks and wasn't as psyched.

Same here.
Space Cowboy (on Video Music Box w/Ralph McDaniels no less) was how I first discovered them. Internet wasn't so good back then. Took me a few months to find out about Emergency - and after that I was hooked.

Admittedly, the sound did change a bit after Zender left but no so much that I didn't like them anymore. Especially the house remixes.

Sort of like Van Halen with David Lee Roth leaving and Sammy Hagar coming in. Band changed a bit - but the hits kept coming.
