James Corden is calling out fellow late-night host Bill Maher for a recent Real Time segment that encourages fat shaming as a method to combat the obesity epidemic.

In his Sept. 6 edition of “New Rules” (which you can watch below), Maher suggests that fat shaming needs to make a comeback, as if it ever really went away. In a seven-minute rebuttal, Corden dings the HBO personality for floating the “common and insulting misconception that fat people are stupid and lazy,” and argues that overeating is a far more complex than Maher makes it out to be.

“We know that being overweight isn’t good for us,” Corden says. “I’ve struggled my entire life trying to manage my weight and I suck at it. I’ve had good days… and bad months. I’ve basically been off and on diets since as long as I can remember and, well, this is how it’s going. But here’s the thing: We’re not all as lucky as Bill Maher. We don’t all have a sense of superiority that burns 35,000 calories a day.

“Bill, I sincerely believe that what you think you’re offering here is tough love… but the truth is [that] you’re working against your own cause,” Corden argues. “It’s proven that fat shaming only does one thing: It makes people feel ashamed. And shame leads to depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior — self-destructive behavior like overeating.”

Corden goes on to stress that “a lack of shame is not the issue here… Until we make healthy food and health care more accessible, and we properly educate people on nutrition and exercise, maybe we can hold back on the whole ‘call fat people virgins until they lose weight’ strategy,” he says. “While you’re encouraging people to think about what goes into their mouths, just think a little harder about what comes out of yours.”

Maher too much for this new-age, soft ass, bitchmade folks who populate the left. The problem is that the bullshit terms (whatever)-shaming aren't about anti-bullying. They about silencing ANY criticism AND the pushing of warped agendas. Laziness and lack of self-control masked as positivity.

We at the point where doctors are called out for fat 'shaming' for telling patients to lose weight. And it kills me these clowns always have an excuse for something instead of owning the problem. Just making up terms for shit as they go along. These the same fat asses who report people at Planet Fitness. Same fat asses who claim fat 'shaming' when fit people post pictures after childbirth. :smh:

I got into really good shape a couple of years ago through diet and a lot of exercise. I've recently had some bad back and leg issues that make it much harder to exercise. If it was something I had to deal with permanently, there's no way I could maintain my current shape. Some people have thyroid issues and a range of conditions that make it tougher for them to be fit.

That's not even getting into the poverty and health food access issues Corden raised.

It's so easy to cast stones. Maher should be thankful for his good health rather than ignorantly smear people who are less fortunate.

Maher spoke on that though. He didn’t flat out just say shame fat people for no reason. I thought he made it clear that there are certain conditions that cause weight gain outside of being a lazy fuck. But let’s be real, most fat people are just lazy overeating fucks who complain and don’t want to put in the work.

It's hard because food so easy to get. There was no fat epidemic with poor people EVER until they had access to all this food. Only wealthy people were fat(general terms).

Chicken breast and brown rice are available at Walmart. 10 pounds of chicken for $19. Ground turkey $2-3/lb. They just don't sell discipline and self-control. :smh:
