But anyway, let me reiterate. English is taught as a second language in all of those countries. It's a requirement. Why? Because English is the language of MONEY.

Also, If a Danish guy is doing business with a Swedish guy, or a Dutch guy, or a French guy- guess which language they speak. ENGLISH.


Of course they speak their own language. It they also speak English because it benefits them to do so.

Since you're a military brat though, I'm sure you ventured out into the nearby city more than once. How hard was it to find an English speaker for directions? I'm sure it was easy. Why do I know this? Because I was raised a military brat too, and I travel to Europe for work often NOW. They HAVE to speak English to me in every one of those countries in order to do business with me. I don't speak any of their languages and I skip through every city without a care.


Also, the Irish speak English and that isn't their first language. Gaelic(irish) is taught to them in school but most of the young people don't k ow it.

I lived off post...blah blah blah.....learn a new language to better yourself yes. Dont let the Chinks push you out the job market in your own country like they have done in many African countries leaving the locals with shit and low wages....period not going to debate this shit..sick of Blacks being the doormat of the world

Jamaicans gotta think of ways to take advantage of the Chinese presence there. Meaning selling products and services that Chinese are use to be it food supermarkets, clothes, etc

How come Jamaican leaders didn't make a deal where the Chinese had to educate and employ Jamaicans at a substantial amount in their workforce?

you both have a point. A lot of Chinese people have been living on the island for quite a while. It would make sense for them to learn the language. They NEED to do business. There is no true native language. English is the Queens native language. What other languages do you speak? Cause the one which most of us use isnt our native language.

I think they've surpassed the US in terms of acquisitions and are looking at us in the rear view. We've done nothing about taking over the lands near us. We let them be.

China on the other hand are trying to be the modern day English where their empire will reach every corner of the globe.

If anyone should be investing in the Caribbean like that, it should be the neighboring super power.

But when you go down there, everything is either British English, Canadian, Dutch, Chinese... damn near everything but American, minus KFC and all that bs.
 
Whats the fucking point of this again? Africans have had to learn dialects just to trade in their own countries. So do Indians. The whole Jamaican way of life is loosely based off of Western culture. An adopted culture. Any poor nation must change up for even tourism. Over 80 percent of travelers to Guam are from Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. You think people aren't studying Japanese and Korean to up their clientele and profits?

Then shortly after , all through the caribbean, English brought in poor indians and Chinese to replace the black population decades ago. Guyana and Trinidad are largely indian now. Anyone responding to this NOW, are very far behind and will only continue to be left reacting left and right.

Yup. As far back as ancient Mali, the local merchants picked up Arabic and a whole new religion( Islam )to trade with the guys coming from the north. Eventually that transferred to the kings , who then made it a state religion. Mansa Musa became the richest man in history by entering the world market and gaining control of his resources -but by the time he came along his people had learned a whole new language and religion. That put him in position to be so. I bet there were even small minded people back then who complained about it. They just don't have the internet to do so lol

Scandinavian and German kids couldn't wait for local translations of Harry Potter so read it in English. You can manage a visit in Germany without speaking a lick of German. Yeah. I haven't lived in Europe but it's damn hard to compete to learn the local language when you speak English. If you're learning a local tongue in big cities you have to strong arm them verbally to stay committed.

Yeah , I've been in some small towns or run into an old person who doesn't speak English but I never have to bother with learning all that shit. Even in Paris, where I noticed in the 90s they were adamant about speaking French, now there's way more English being spoken.

Yeah. They lost lol. They are taught way early in schools now but arrogant Parisians will converse in French whenever.
