Beatles For Sale
December 4, 1964 Parlophone Records

eljr5scb9cs7nitk8rz.jpg

Exhausted from non-stop touring and making a movie, the Beatles were able to provide 8 original Lennon/McCartney songs for Beatles For Sale. And the songs showed their exhaustion, with titles like "I'm A Loser" and "Eight Days A Week" which, although a love song, is titled after a saying of Ringo's describing the hardships of being a Beatle. New horizons were reached in the songwriting, especially by John, who was beginning to be influenced by Bob Dylan and by journalist Kenneth Allsop, who told John that he "wasn't terrible enamoured with Beatles' songs because they all tended to be 'she loves him', 'he loves her', 'they love her', and 'I love her'." Allsop encouraged John to not mask his feelings, but to just speak out on what he really felt. It was the earliest sign of the heights the band would take their music.

Tracks:
  1. No Reply
  2. I'm A Loser
  3. Baby's In Black

Help! was the soundtrack album to the Beatles second feature film of the same name, in which the band escapes an evil cult after one of Ringo's rings. Filmed right around the time the band discovered marijuana, reel after reel of film was discarded as being worthless, as it contained only drug-induced giggling fits. The working title for the film and soundtrack was "Eight Arms To Hold You", and the penultimate title was only decided after John presented his song "Help!". Nominated for the 1965 Grammys for Album Of The Year and Best Original Score, Motion Picture Or TV Show.

Revolver
August 28, 1966 Parlophone Records

zzfjt1aozw1fub9oa1.jpg

As Rubber Soul was a major turning point in the Beatles writing and recording styles, Revolver (working titles "Abracadabra", "Magical Circles", and "Beatles On Safari") took that attitude of exploration even further. The Beatles were even deeper into the underground art and drug scenes which were influencing their music in entirely new ways. One musical breakthrough is "Tomorrow Never Knows", with unending tape loops and sound effects. None of the songs on Revolver were played on tour, even though the album was released during what turned out to be their last tour ever. Winner of the 1966 Grammy for Best Album Cover/Package (designed by Klaus Voorman who later created the Anthology covers) and Album of the Year. Also named the greatest rock and roll album of all time by VH1 in 2001 in their "100 Greatest Rock And Roll Albums Of All Time" series.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
June 1, 1967 Parlophone Records

1dzvlrnx0y87t8goyp1.jpg

Considered one of the greatest albums in rock history, and one that changed the world, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band showed the band's flair for writing and imagination; taking an unprecedented 129 days to record (most albums are recorded in a week or two). Paul came up with the title and concept: an old-fashioned band playing a concert in "the summer of love." Most songs were also written by Paul, since John had become so lazy at this point that he hardly left his house. The incredibly varied sound effects and recording techniques left a mark on pop/rock music that is even still felt today. The US version was almost identical as the UK version - except that the "inner groove" track was not included and the disc was banded wereas the British version was not. The album won Grammys for Album Of The Year, Best Contemporary Album, Best Album Cover, and Best Engineered (Non-Classical) Recording. Rereleased as a picture disc in 1978 in the US in conjunction with the "Sgt. Pepper's" movie starring the Bee Gees.

Magical Mystery Tour
November 27, 1967 Parlophone Records

kzplc5layqxqwqrrshu.jpg

Originaly began as a side project of Paul's, who was experimenting with video and electronic soundtracks, Magical Mystery Tour was the Beatles' first project since the death of manager Brian Epstein. Soon all four of the Beatles were involved in the project, which turned out to be a disaster. Without Epstein to look over the project, everything wrong that could've happened did; including the "Magical Mystery Tour" sign falling off of the bus. The film aired on BBC at Christmas time and was criticized, mocked, and laughed at. Paul replied, "Aren't we entitled to a flop?" The album, though, was a smash. In the UK it was released as a double-EP set and reached #1 across the world. Capitol, noting that the previous two US Beatles EPs were flops, refused to issue a double EP set, instead gathering the material for a full album. It was the last US release to be issued in both mono and stereo, the mono version being more rare. Issued as a full album in England in 1976, and in Germany in 1971. Nominated for the 1968 Grammy for Album Of The Year.

The Beatles (The White Album)
November 22, 1968 Apple Records

chbxvz13fj032pn0hht.jpg

Originally titled "A Doll's House," most of The White album was written while on a meditation study with the Maharishi Yogi (the bands' second such trip). Because they were "roughing it" and had only their acoustic guitars with them, most of the songs are or were originally acoustic in nature. The concept of the record is that it was to be the opposite of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; for example, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band had a long title and a lavishly colored cover; The White Album was simply titled The Beatles and derived it's nickname from the completely white cover. The US version did not feature black sleeves as the UK version did, and the 4 photos were smaller. Reports indicate that Capitol had compressed most of the album but George Harrison discovered this and set things right, although due to some mechanical error there is audible evidence of this during "Cry Baby Cry", near the line "all the children". Copies were numbered, the same system used at all 12 pressing plants (so there are 12 1s, 12 2s, etc). Also, due to dispute over banding (where the space between songs is visable on the record disc), some copies are banded and some aren't - even between copies pressed at the same plant. No singles were issued from the album until 1976, when the "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da/Julia" single was released.

Yellow Submarine
January 17, 1969 Apple Records

0gm64k37g3a0d6yol70.jpg

Featuring four brand new songs as well as a few Beatles classics and some George Martin orchestral tunes, Yellow Submarine was the soundtrack to the hugely successful animated film of the same name. The four new songs - "Only A Northern Song", "All Together Now", "Hey Bulldog", and "It's All Too Much", were recorded during the same sessions that produced much of the material for another soundtrack - Magical Mystery Tour. As it turned out, the four songs were just about the only contributions from the Beatles; they didn't even perform their own voices. It was the final UK release to be issued in mono and stereo. The linear notes on the back of the US release were different than the UK version. The album was nominated for the 1969 Grammy for Best Original Score Written For a Motion Picture Or TV Special.

Abbey Road
September 26, 1969 Apple Records

ie33oczg3fcc13q4fjh.jpg

Following the disasterous Let It Be sessions, Paul had approached producer George Martin asking if they could make an album "the way we used to." Martin agreed, but only if the band would be "the way (they) used to be." Paul replied, "We promise," and sessions began for the Beatles best-selling record, Abbey Road, briefly recorded under the working title "Everest". Songs about being in debt, being broke, and being ripped off filled the record's grooves. Also, George came into his own as a writer with "Here Comes the Sun" and "Something." The sessions proved to be the last for the Beatles. The cassette version of Abbey Road has "Come Together" and "Here Comes the Sun" switched on the track list, and the UK version does not list "Her Majesty" on the back cover, whereas some US copies feature one or the other, or both. Rumors circulated for some time that Paul was not wearing pants for the cover photo and they were airbrushed on, but photo outtakes from the same session have proven this false. The album won the 1969 Grammy for Best Engineered (Non-Classical) Recording. Nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Contemporary Vocal Performance, Group.

Let It Be
May 18, 1970 Apple Records

4ss0vifs6t4rgiy1dw8h.jpg

Although released in 1970 and thought by many as the Beatles' last album, Let It Be was actually recorded in January of 1969; before Abbey Road. The album was originally to be called Get Back but was changed. The album was the soundtrack to the film "Let It Be;" a documentary of a band recording an album. This was in order to fufill a contractual obligation to United Artists. However, sadly, the film has been viewed as a documentary of a band breaking up. The songs on Let It Be were recorded live; some from atop the roof of the Beatles offices on Saville Row. Because this was in the midst of a business district, the concert was interupted when neighbors complained of the noise. The original sessions were produced by George Martin, but the tapes were given to Phil Spector (who had just produced John's first solo album) by John just after the group's breakup for reworking. Paul became infuriated with the results, which included orchestration and female backing vocals, and wrote to John to suggest the breakup of the band's legal partnership. The album was released in a box with a special picture book in some countries, and the US version featured a red apple on the disc, marking the maturity and end of the band. Taken out of print from 1975-1978. Let It Be was nominated for the 1970 Grammy for Record Of The Year. It won the 1970 Grammy for Best Original Score Written For A Motion Picture Or TV Special.

Anthology 2 covers the period of Beatles music where the band was just beginning to expand their horizons, and these songs reflect the processes that the band went through to make their songs unique. Demos, experiments, outtakes, and several live performances from 1965 to 1967 make this probably the most compelling Antholgy volume.

Tracks:

Disc 1
  1. Real Love
As was with "Free As A Bird", "Real Love" was recorded by John as a demo on a tape recorder sitting on top of his piano around 1979. The tape was given to Paul by Yoko and he, George, and Ringo added vocals and instruments in early 1995. The original tape had tape hiss and clicking removed and was sped up to sound more upbeat. The celeste used on the intro is the same celeste used on "Because" from Abbey Road, and the harmonium used is the same one used on "We Can Work It Out".
  2. Yes It Is
A combination of takes 2 and 14 (take 14 being the eventual master) recorded during Help! sessions in under five hours, "Yes It Is" was left off of the film's soundtrack and instead used as a B-side for the "Ticket To Ride" single.
  3. I'm Down
The previously unreleased take 1, turning out "pretty darn good" in Paul's words, take 7 being the master.
  4. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
A mix of takes 1, 2, and 5 (take 9 being the master), in which take 1 breaks down early and some studio talk (including a little rhyme by John) preceding take 2, the song itself being take 5.
  5. If You've Got Trouble
Written by Paul for Ringo to sing on Help!, only one take of "If You've Got Trouble" was recorded and vocal and other overdubs were added. However, they were not happy with the song and it was scrapped, with Ringo singing "Act Naturally" for the film instead.
  6. That Means A Lot
Recorded for Help! in two takes spanning over a month apart, this is take 1 which was ultimately shelved. The song was given to singer PJ Proby and reached #24
  7. Yesterday
With recording completed in two takes, the orchestral overdubs added to take 2, this version of "Yesterday" is the previously unreleased take 1. Paul can be heard instructing guitar chords to George, although the album's linear notes suggest George may not be playing.
  8. It's Only Love
Take 2 with a false start from take 3 preceding it, featuring only guitars and vocals (the master being take 6).
  9. I Feel Fine
Taken from the group's August 1, 1965 appearance on the Sunday night British program "Blackpool Night Out", their second and last performance.
  10. Ticket To Ride
Another track from the August 1 concert for "Blackpool Night Out".
  11. Yesterday
A third selection from their second "Blackpool Night Out" concert. This is the first ever stage performance of "Yesterday".
  12. Help!
A fourth track from the second "Blackpool Night Out" appearance.
  13. Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby
Recorded at the Beatles historic first concert at Shea Stadium in New York.
  14. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
Take 1 (the master being a remake recorded nine days later) featuring the sitar, but considerably slower. This version was recorded under the name "This Bird Has Flown".
  15. I'm Looking Through You
The original recorded in nine hours and featuring vocal overdubs on a basic rhythm track, this early version is missing the chorus ("Why, tell me why...").
  16. 12-Bar Original
A favorite for bootleggers (who frequently mislabeled it "12-Bad Original"), "12-Bar Original" was an instrumental track written by all four Beatles for inclusion on Help!, only because at the time it was recorded there were not enough tracks to fill the album. John and Paul both brought several classics, however, and the song was dropped.
  17. Tomorrow Never Knows
Take 1 recorded after a three-month vacation from filming and recording, featuring the same elements as the master (take 3), but slightly different.
  18. Got To Get You Into My Life
Take 5 which is merely a shadow of the master (take 9), as it does not include some of the lyrics or vocal tracks and none of the orchestration.
  19. And Your Bird Can Sing
The unreleased take 2 (take 10 being the master), in which the band breaks out in uncontrollable giggling fits.
  20. Taxman
The full take 11, which was reduced into take 12 and issued as the master. This version features a few added lines and a different ending than the master.
  21. Eleanor Rigby (Strings Only)
Take 14, which was originally reduced to take 15 and overdubbed with Paul's vocals, this is the orchestral score written by George Martin featuring 4 violinists, 2 cellists, and 2 viola players.
  22. I'm Only Sleeping (Rehearsal)
An instrumental demo which was nearly erased from the session tape.
  23. I'm Only Sleeping (Take 1)
Recorded as one of five mono takes recorded after the master had been established, this remake of "I'm Only Sleeping" is previously unreleased.
  24. Rock And Roll Music
After completing Revolver, the Beatles performed five shows at the Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo, two of which were recorded by NTV, a Japanese television company. This Chuck Berry cover was recorded on June 30.
  25. She's A Woman
Also taken from the Tokyo performances (during which the name Revolver was chosen for their new album) along with "Rock N' Roll Music" (see above).
Disc 2
  1. Strawberry Fields Forever (Demo Sequence)
A series of takes recorded by John on his acoustic guitar at home. Features the basic sound, the first verse, and chorus.
  2. Strawberry Fields Forever (Take 1)
Recorded during their first sessions back in the studio together in five months - and after renouncing touring forever - take 1 of "Strawberry Fields Forever" is significantly different than both the demo and the master.
  3. Strawberry Fields Forever (Take 7 & Edit Piece)
The master being an edit of takes 7 and 26 (with the first minute being take 7 and the rest take 26 slowed down slightly), this is the entire take 7 with the familiar drum track dubbed onto the end (an extended version featuring remixed vocals - notably the "cranberry sauce" sequence).
  4. Penny Lane
The third song recorded during the Sgt. Pepper sessions, this version of "Penny Lane" is a special Anthology mix of several takes, including several instrumental tracks which had broken down.
  5. A Day In The Life
Another Anthology mix, featuring pieces of takes 1, 2, and 6 as well as some additional unmentioned takes. Features an interesting count-in by John and the basic 32-bar count-in which was overdubbed with an orchestral score in the master before Paul's "woke up/fell out of bed" bridge.
  6. Good Morning Good Morning
The basic track (take 8) which was overdubbed with additional vocals and sound effects and eventually became the master (take 11).
  7. Only A Northern Song
A mix of takes 3, 12, and some unmarked vocals. Although recorded during Sgt. Pepper's sessions and intended for inclusion on the album, "Only A Northern Song" did not surface until 1969's Yellow Submarine.
  8. Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! (Takes 1 & 2)
The first takes, both of which broke down but feature some insightful studio conversation which established the direction of the song.
  9. Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite! (Take 7)
The basic track to which all of the overdubs were added (as take 9). Features some prodding by George Martin and some remixed instrumentals near the end of the track.
  10. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
A mix specially prepared for Anthology including the best of tracks 6, 7, and 8.
  11. Within You Without You (Instrumental)
The instrumental track without vocals, including Indian instruments such as the tamboura, tabla, dilruba, and swaramandal along with an overdub recorded a week later featuring violins, cellos, and George's sitar.
  12. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)
Recorded in one session, with take 9 being the master, this version is the basic take 5 with Paul's guide vocal. Overdubs were added later.
  13. You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
Recorded over a two-year period, starting in 1967 and continuing sporadically until it's release in 1970 as the b-side to "Let It Be", the original version of "You Know My Name" was over 6 minutes, later trimmed to around 4. This mix features more of the song but is not the complete track as recorded, as there are several parts on the released master not on this version.
  14. I Am The Walrus
The basic track, take 16, that was fortified with strings, vocals, and sound effects. This version features just the band and John singing, without the overdubs.
  15. The Fool On The Hill (Demo)
Recorded 3 weeks prior to the taping for Magical Mystery Tour, sounding very different from the master and without a completed set of lyrics.
  16. Your Mother Should Know
    An experimental arrangement by Paul.
  17. The Fool On The Hill (Take 4)
Closer to the demo version than the final master, take 4 of "The Fool On The Hill" still did not feature a completed set of lyrics. This version taped nearly 3 weeks after the demo was recorded.
  18. Hello Goodbye
Take 16, featuring many overdubs and extra instrumentation not used on the master, which, like this version, was overdubbed onto the basic track 14.
  19. Lady Madonna
Remixed from a different take (take 3 and 4) than the released master.
  20. Across The Universe
Recorded during the "Lady Madonna" sessions but unreleased until it appeared the WWF charity album. This is take 2, lacking several overdubs that the master featured.

Anthology 3
October 29, 1996 Apple Records

df3aqfrtbzr6e2r39uxj.jpg

Covering the years 1968-1970, Anthology 3 features songs written and recorded during the group's trip to India in which they completed study with the Maharishi, as well as other demos and rehearsals from The Beatles, Abbey Road, and Let It Be. Many tracks are demos recorded by the song's writer, several at George's Esher home. There is precious little material from the famed 'Get Back sessions' that could have been included rather than the special remixes, but volume 3 features an incredible look at a band at the end of their storybook careers.

Tracks:

Disc 1
  1. A Beginning Martin
An orchestral piece written by George Martin originally for inclusion on the White Album as an intro piece to Ringo's "Don't Pass Me By". Later used in the film "Yellow Submarine".
  2. Happiness Is A Warm Gun Lennon/McCartney
An acoustic demo recorded by John during the famous Esher sessions. Includes the 'I need a fix' and 'Mother Superior jumped the gun' sections but not the 'Happiness is a warm gun' section.
  3. Helter Skelter
Distinctly different from the master, this version of "Helter Skelter" (take 2) is a slow, driving tune shortened to 5 minutes from over 12 minutes in its original form.
  4. Mean Mr. Mustard
Demo recorded at Esher featuring a bridge not used in the final version.
  5. Polythene Pam
Demo recorded by John at Esher, with vocal gibberish in place of the unfinished lyric.
  6. Glass Onion
Demo recorded at Esher, again, with vocal gibberish in place of unfinished lyric.
  7. Junk
Demo recorded at Esher but never recorded by the Beatles - instead apprearing on Paul's solo debut McCartney.
  8. Piggies
Demo recorded at Esher, featuring a double-tracked vocal by George and different lyrics than the released version
  9. Honey Pie
The final Esher demo presented on Anthology, with lyrics slightly different than the finished version.
  10. Don't Pass Me By
Take 5 featuring vocal and basic instrumental track, without the fiddle.
  11. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Fortified with session players (on 3 saxophones and conga drums) and scrapped in favor of a remakerecorded the following week.
  12. Good Night
A recorded rehearsal, remixed with the ending of the master (take 34), with some studio talk discussing the direction of the song.
  13. Cry Baby Cry
Take 1 featuring a basic instrumental track and vocals.
  14. Blackbird
Featuring Paul only on an acoustic guitar (and no bird sound effects), this is take 4, with the master being take 32.
  15. Sexy Sadie
The basic instrumental track - take 6 - fading out near the end becase it was lacking a final coda.
  16. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Demo recorded by George on his acoustic guitar and Paul on organ, featuring an additional verse not used in the master.
  17. Hey Jude
Preceeded by some studio chat, this is a simple studio rehearsal which is somewhat stripped down.
  18. Not Guilty
Although worked on for 3 days, "Not Guilty" was not included on the White Album. Presented here is take 102.
  19. Mother Nature's Son
Take 2 (the master being take 26) featuring some studio chat and a basic track.
  20. Glass Onion
Mono mix featuring some additional sound effects placed by John which were ultimately left off the master, including an closing loop of BBC soccer commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme elling, "It's a goal!", which was dropped in favor of an orchestral score written by George Martin.
  21. Rocky Raccoon
Take 8 (take 10 being the master) with some misspoken lyrics by Paul.
  22. What's The New Mary Jane
Originally conceived by John for use on the White Album, then rejected, then considered as a B-side for the Plastic Ono Band to "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)", "What's The New Mary Jane" was never issued except on bootleg discs. This is take 4, featuring John and George as well as Yoko and Mal Evans on sound effects.
  23. Step Inside Love/Los Paranoias
Recorded during a jam during sesions for "I Will", "Step Inside Love" was written for Cilia Black for her BBC TV program. The jam extended into "Los Paranoias" at the suggestion of John.

A mix of takes 3, 6, and 9 (the master being take 14), recorded during the end of the White Album sessions.
  25. I Will
Take 1 (the master being take 67 featuring the same elements as the released version.

The final track recorded for the White Album, this is take 2 featuring John searching for the right structure for the song. The master was take 3.
Disc 2
  1. I've Got A Feeling
Featuring Billy Preston on keyboard, this version of "I've Got A Feeling" was recorded in the basement of the Beatles office building on Savile Row in London. Also filmed for use in the 'Let It Be' film.
  2. She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
Another song recorded during the Savile Row sessions, but not used on the Let It Be album, instead, later recorded for Abbey Road.
  3. Dig A Pony
A Savile Row take with the intor "All I want is...", which was later cut for the final version.
  4. Two Of Us
Another Savile Row take recorded with paul and John on vocals.
  5. For You Blue
According to the Anthology linear notes, all takes of "For You Blue" were recorded on Jan. 25, 1969, but the master featured a rerecorded vocal by George almost a year later on Jan. 8, 1970.
  6. Teddy Boy
A rehearsal for a song never issued by the Beatles, instead, used on Paul's debut McCartney. Features some intersting vocals by John.
  7. Medley: Rip It Up/Shake, Rattle, And Roll/Blue Suede Shoes
The only oldies medley of dozens rehearsed by the Beatles during Let It Be rehearsals released on Anthology, although many were later found on bootlegs.
  8. The Long And Winding Road
The basic track to which Phil Spector added orchestration for the Let it Be album, to Paul's dismay. Noted as the version that 'nature intended'.
  9. Oh! Darling
Recorded during the Savile Row sesions but unissued until Abbey Road, the beginning of this rehearsal of "Oh! Darling" is faded out due to misoperation of the recording machine.
  10. All Things Must Pass
Frequently performed during Let It Be rehearsals, "All Things Must Pass" was not used on any Beatles album, rather was recorded by George for his first solo album of the same name.
  11. Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues
An obscure Buddy Holly cover which was the B-side of "Words Of Love" which was recorded by the Beatles for Beatles For Sale in 1964. One of many Holly tunes recorded during these sessions.

This version was the final number performed during the band's legendary rooftop concert on January 30, 1969. Notably, it is the final public performance by the Beatles.

An elaborate demo recorded by George using 2 overdubs of guitar and vocals.
  14. Octopus's Garden
Take 2 with some studio chat from take 8 (the master was take 32). Written shortly after completion ofthe White Album sessions.
  15. Maxwell's Silver Hammer

  16. Something
A solo demo recorded by George, just before Joe Cocker's version (which preceded the Beatles version).
  17. Come Together
Take 1 (the master being take 9 with further overdubs) featuring John on vocal, clapping his hands and playing tamborine.
  18. Come And Get It
Recorded by Paul in less than an hour as a demo for Apple recording artists Badfinger for use as their first single. The song was a huge hit.
  19. Ain't She Sweet
Performed during recordings for "Sun King", the jam that included this version of "Ain't She Sweet" also featured two other Gene Vincent songs. Also recorded during the band's Hamburg sessions with Tony Sheridan.
  20. Because
Features the nine vocals (three each by Paul, John, and George) recorded in three separate takes, but without the instrumentation. Previously released on several bootlegs.
  21. Let It Be
This is historic as it features part of Paul's original presentation of the song to the rest of the band. Also features some remixed orchestration and studio chat by John.
  22. I Me Mine
From the band's final session, for which John was absent, which turned out "I Me Mine" as it was used on the Let It Be album.

Let It Be...Naked
November 18, 2003 Apple Records

zx94nd86ef6jti9iviml.jpg

The original Let It Be was supposed to be an album documenting the Beatles "getting back" to their roots (hence the working title Get Back). The band, more specifically Paul, decided that the album would be a collection of new songs played live to disc - without overdubs. However, the rest of the band wasn't much into the project, and the "Let It Be" film documented the tension-filled sessions for the album. Ultimately, the tapes for the album were put on the shelf and the band went to work on Abbey Road. After the band had splintered, John gave the tapes from the Get Back sessions to producer Phil Spector who had just produced John's first solo album. Paul was furious with the result, which included lush orchestral overdubs and female backing vocals. While much of Paul's angst could be considered a reflection of the band's breakup and the complex legal matters they faced, the truth of the fact is that Spector's reproduction was the complete antithesis of what Get Back was originally supposed to be - a "back to the basics" album of raw performances. Years later, a pre-Spector version of "The Long And Winding Road" would appear on Anthology 3, paving the way for Let It Be…...Naked - the songs of Let It Be as they were originally intended, without orchestras, studio dialogue, or overdubs. "Maggie Mae" and "Dig It" - half-finished songs performed during the band's many jam sessions during the album's recording - have been omitted and "Don't Let Me Down" has been added. The album was also originally packaged with a 20 minute bonus disc of "fly-on-the-wall" footage from the recording sessions. The booklet includes photos from the booklet which originally accompanied early copies of the album from 1970.

November 20, 2006 Apple Records

Love (spelled LOVE on all cover artwork) is a soundtrack compilation album release by The Beatles for the Cirque du Soleil show of the same name. The album was released in November 2006 and features music compiled and remixed for the show. Producer Giles Martin commented that "What people will be hearing on the album is a new experience, a way of re-living the whole Beatles musical lifespan in a very condensed period."

George Martin and his son Giles began work on Love after getting permission from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon, and Olivia Harrison (the latter two representing John Lennon and George Harrison, respectively). They worked from the original master tapes from the Abbey Road studios to produce a medley of Beatles music by remixing favorite songs, such as Harrison's "Within You Without You" being played to the drum-track of "Tomorrow Never Knows".

Good Look. I've been looking for some Beatels for like a year but couldn't bring myself to buy it. Man I love this site.

Thanks!!!

I have never really given the beatles a chance, even though everyone knows how big they were. I'm going to DL revolver and maybe a few others to see what all of the hype is about.

Fire post!
