J Russell

Funny how the coach escapes culpability in all of this. I mean, he's way more experienced than Russell, maybe it's his play calling that needs to be called into question

Play calling has nothing to do with Russell's propensity to fumble and overthrow receivers by 10 yards, or coming to camp out of shape and not putting in the work necessary to improve.

Play calling may not have anything to do with what kind of shape the man shows up to training camp in, but might have plenty to do with a young and inexperienced QB's propensity to fumble if not given enough time to throw. After all, it's the coaches job to know what his players are capable of. ALL of them. In the Raiders games versus the Giants and Jets, first thing I noticed was that Russell barely ever threw the ball on first down. Despite the fact that they were behind in score 100% of the time for both games. It was always on third and more than a couple that he was forced to drop back and pass. And against hard pass rushing teams like the Jets and Giants, that's suicide for any QB. In the Jets game, Russell threw on 1st down ONCE in the second quarter and it was a completion.

Maybe Russell is what he is a lazy piece of overrated shit! The team doesn't believe in him and the way they played today showed that.
