Floyd Mayweather Jr. Plans Return For Manny Pacquiao

According to some of the Mayweather family members, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is already planning to return to the ring to challenge Manny Pacquiao. Family members told Mayweather's hometown paper, the Grand Rapids Press, that Floyd Jr. advised some of them of his comeback plan moments after Pacquiao stopped Oscar De La Hoya in eight rounds in Las Vegas last Saturday night.

Janelle Mayweather, Floyd's cousin, said the fighter called her and disclosed his plans to return and and hook back up with his father, Floyd Sr. The two have not worked together since a 2001 dispute. Floyd's uncle Roger has trained him since the dispute. According to Janelle, Floyd wants to use his both his father and uncle for the fight.

"My niece said my son told her he wanted to fight Pacquiao next, and that he wants me to train him for the fight," Mayweather Sr. said to the paper.

Fatimah Mayweather, the Floyd's sister, also told the paper that he brother contacted her and said that he plans to return and plans to use the services of his father.

Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather's adviser, did not return calls to confirm or deny the information, but Mayweather Sr. told the paper that his son called and left a message on Monday.

Oscars loss was probably the best thing for the sport. It paves the way for others to take over, instead of him coming in once a year and demanding all the attention/money. Shit is more wide open now, as far as potential fights to be made and people getting their shot, like its supposed to be.

I said so to a previous poster. Floyd cannot pass up the opportunity to make the type of money this one will generate. It will be one of the best fights in a long while due to the styles.

Mayweather has never been a runner. He's more of a lay on the ropes and counter type cat. Best believe Mayweather will bring it directly to Pac. He's bigger, harder punching, and has faster hands. He's also still young, basically only a year older than Pac, so he's no De La Hoya.

Another difference between this and the Oscar fight is that Mayweather is going to reverse the roles by making Pacquiao come forward, unlike Oscar, who walked to Pac and stalked him the whole night making him easy pickings.

You know people (especially the ones who dont watch boxing) have no memory. Their only way to reference Pacquiao now is by the Oscar fight, so hes superman now. Ask most people who he fought in the two previous fights to De La Hoya, and they probably couldnt tell you. Floyd has all of the tools that pac-man has and much more. I don't think there is any doubt that his hands are faster, he is bigger, and i think a better boxer. Someone said he runs. That is crazy he is a fighter not a brawler. That is why he is so great. Oscar had no defense and Floyd's defense is great, so in conclusion i just don't see him losing this man. In every area he has more tools and knows how to use them. The dude is one of the best ever. It is crazy how people forget a mans body of work so fast, and want to say someone else is better. Pac-man has had trouble with people with great defense, quick hands, and some pop. Example the Marquez fight.

What the white guy said at the end of that clip is key to the Floyd argument. His defense is not appreciated by people. Something happened in the last ten or so years that said you have to sit in front of someone get your head bashed in to be a great fighter. I always though that the object of fighting is to not get hit cleanly, and dole out punishment. That is what he does! He is a BOXER, not a brawler. Mexican fighters and those who are disciples are brawlers not fighters. Their careers are are short and sweet because of this. Ray Lenard and guys like this are boxers. Yes, they have had their hard fights where in portions they had to take some punishment, but it is their speed and skill that gets them through. Its called the sweet science for a reason!
