IT questions

For a long time i had a dream of getting an English degree,and almost there,I feel as if I wont be making enough money.Or atleast the type of money id like to make...

I was wondering if anyone is an IT here and how to go about becoming one myself.

Must you have a degree?
What are the fundamentals I should learn first?
Can I work by myself as an IT or is the work mainly done with employers?

1. You dont need college, but you need certs and experience
2. Fundamentals, it depends on your area. Programing, server, networking, web development and so on.

3. You will have to work somewhere to get a idea of how the game works, its a lot of fakers out here. I fix broken networks around the city on a day to day basis.
