I'm inclined to believe that she is "female." However, gender is more of a continuum than most people would like to think. If you ever study human biology (and specifically the biology of gender) you'll learn that there are any number of chromosomal conditions that blur the idea of strictly binary (male or female)gender, e.g. Androgen insensitivity syndrome, Klinfelter's syndrome etc...

Can you please give examples of where this has taken place before? As far as I'm aware, this is the first time that I've heard of a athlete being tested for her gender.

This used to be routine. I remember that in some Olympic Games when I was a kid, an exception was made for an equestrian rider because she was a member of the British royal family.

Most recently, an Indian runner, Santhi Soundarajan, failed a gender test after having previously passed another one. I believe that Santhi Soundarajan has AIS.

Actually, it's not easy to clear up at all. Neither anatomical examination nor chromosomal testing are definitive. Of course, you don't know that because you're a moron who is given to pedantic pronouncements about things of which you know nothing.

I was listening to the new here and am confused as to why it could take "weeks to months" to figure out her gender! Either she has a pussy or dick what's the big deal? Of course i do remember watching 60 Minutes years ago about babies that were born without sex organs and the parents and doctors had to make a decision as to what sex to make the child. Sometimes they chose the right one and other times they were so WTONG. I was think that this could be the case. In any case i feel bad for her and her family. Imagine if she has a boyfriend?....
