It's not so much the weather itself, but black ice that accumulates on the streets and how many people can't drive on the roads like that. Nobody wants kids or people out on the streets like that, having accidents and causing injury and harm to others. Plus, they're a lot of side streets and hills in Atlanta - you don't know how to handle your car on one of those, you're slamming into another intersection, cars, etc.
That's the reason why we cancel schools up in NC - if the buses can't safely make it down a street, they don't expect anybody else to.

Well damn up to 8" now. Earlier in the week I was hearing 1-3". While I do enjoy watching these Raleigh people panic over snow, I'm gonna be pissed if the roads are so fucked up on Friday & Saturday nite that it messes with the amount of people who show up to the club and fucks up my DJ money
Nah fam it really is bout the ice. I'm born & raised in NY and am definitely guilty of clowning the south for the snow dustings. However living down here I see that ice shit is real. Problem is the temps melt the snow/ice during the day but drop real fast at nite so all the shit that melted freezes over so combine that with dark roads due to lack of street lights and you got a great equation for accidents. Up north the temps don't rise enough to melt large amounts of snow that then freeze over. Sure it does.. every day the salt and traffic melt the snow and the sun melts it too even though it's cold and when the sun goes down and darkness along with temps dropping it refreezes.
My point was my daughter rushed back yesterday because she was supposed to have classes today and the punks canceled.
Yeah I was surprised by how much snow we got.
I took my wife car out. She got a Corolla. I knew it has the front wheel drive I needed to make it up steep hills in the snow. I seen cars sliding all over the place. Cars in ditches and abandoned. I made it to a hill I couldn't get up. I had to back all the way down to turn around. Shit is not a game.
Just tried to drive 2 blocks to Bank of America...started sliding as soon as I left the property. Parked my car on the sunny side of the condo building and walked. Came back and can barely feel my ears.
Good thing is it's 79 degrees inside my place without using my heat cause I am on the western side of the development...plus I catch the heat from people below me.
