Is Weasel F. Baby doing his thing on this track?

A lot of rappers did it/do it...that's why I don't criticize Wayne unnecessarily...Phife Dawg was notorious for that...ironically when rumor had it he was gonna drop a solo effort we used to joke saying we don't wanna hear an album w/ just punchlines but that shit became the norm after a while...I gonna disagree about Redman tho for now...some of his joints were like that but I don't remember him being a punchline mc...granted I haven't listened to Redman in a minute even tho I bumped his last 2 albums

When you get a chance, go back and listen to his old stuff.

Baby collects checks. What does that have to do with Lil Wayne being a good MC and keeping up in the game:confused:

im talking about being around since he was 14. BG was the first star. then Juvie was the biggest. Wayne played the background for the most part.people forget about those wack albums he dropped between the block is hot and The Carter. wasnt until the SQUAD up joints when it was obvious he was trying to step his rhyme game up.

But im just not into punchline rappers as a whole so im not into his music. nothing against dude.

Exactly. That's his M.O. Redman made a career doing the exact same thing but nobody says anything about that...
Nobody says anything about it because it's not true lol..I disagree with saying he made an entire career off that but his last two albums he's adopted that style heavily..his style used to be just straight off the wall unpredictable lyrics but now he spits a punchline, filler with a celebrity or a movie reference every couple lines..i wish that he went back to his original style but we'll see if he does with this new album

No. My challenge is not to the appreciators of Wayne, my challenge is directed towards the "haters" of Wayne.

Haters = Anybody who fails to recognize the greatness

Oh ok.

I got two questions then:

What song would you say truly defines Lil' Wayne greatness?

And by any chance, were you born in the 90's?

I've been on this planet for 31 summers now.

I'm not sure if you remember, but in '07 Vibe Magazines Sean Fennessey wrote a column called Lil Waynes 77 best songs of 2007. Now ask yourself what would persuade one of the dopest writers in the culture to write a piece about 77 fucking songs in one year by 1 artist? It's because Wayne was bodying everything he touched at a rapid pace. Remember this is 1 YEAR, 77 phenomenal songs! Now take into account the songs that were left off the list for that year and the hundreds of tracks he beasted in the previous 2-3 years period. It's fucking IMPOSSIBLE to pick out 1 stand out Wayne track. I mean of course you could do it, but it doesn't truly mean that said song is better than any of the other 3 or 4 hundred songs that he's murdered. Ultimately it's Waynes entire body of work that represents his greatness. The evolution in his rhymes from the time he was talking about wobble-dee wobble-dee and bling bling, all the way up into the point where he was selling a million CD's in a week (well into the digital era where EVERYTHING is fucking free).

Wayne is far from wack...he was even decent lyrically when he was younger. He's evolved a lot...but i can name of a shit load of other people that coulda kiled that beat. regardless..decent track tight track.

here's the mp3 :

btw...according to Wayne the final version is supposed to be on his carter 4 album.
Imma looking foward to that 1.

Most of the list is freestyles from his mixtapes, Da Drought and The Carter Sessions, a few unofficial "remixes" he jumped on, and maybe 10-12 actual features. Then they counted small features like number one on the list was his verse on We Takin' Over, and him singing the chorus on Duffle Bag Boys was counted.

Just my .02. I like Wayne, have liked his music since get off the corner. I thought back then his music was a lot better, but that's just my opinion. His recent music which is the Carter series to me only has one classic album and that's the Carter 1. The Carter 2 was damn near great but had some weird songs on it. The Carter 3 was hot trash, nothing but radio shit on there, when he had T-Painintheears on that track which was like the second single I was already pissed.

Weezy has talent, but his substance is gone, mainly because dude from Philly stopped writing for him. I like his recent songs but nothing he's put out since the Carter 1 is something that I would play today, and that imho is what a classic is. Every top artist has atleast 1 classic album and the greats have more than one.

(Couple examples)

DMX-first 3 albums all fire
50-Guess who's back, Get Rich, massacre minue like 4 songs
Kanye-College Dropout, Late reg, Graduation
Jay Z-Everything up to blueprint 2, and then American Gangster
Weezy-Carter 1, some of 2

He's still young, and he's got that poison out of his system, you can even hear it when he talks before the song, his speech is faster and more understandable. Now even if he had ppl writing for him you gotta think some of that shit has to sink in and if it did, then he could be a monster.
