I’m not even trying to clown people who like it. Black men have every bit as much right as whites to be nerds. We are not all the same. But I think it’s objectively true that the average black man does not watch anime, probably less than 10% could actually name a favorite character.
I'm glad as fuck that I'm over 45 homie..... the art in those anime and most of the drawings of today are garbage and look cheap as fuck...... art from the good ole days was much more detailed in every frame..... I remember watching some episdes of the Flinstones where he'd be chased through like fifteen rooms even tho he lived in a three-room stone house with him going through the same room over n over again

Most of BGOL is elder millennial and Gen X. Under a certain age the OP is true. It shocked me when younger black coworkers were full blown Anime heads with kid hobbies at almost 30. Growing up, watching cartoons or playing video games after a certain age was considered “corny.” But these “adults” were dressing up for Comic Cons and quoting Pokémon without shame. I grew up differently, the goal was always to be an “adult” and do “adult” things, be grown and sexy lol. No time for childish shit, make money. Younger millennials are more about being a kid forever. They watch anime, play video games and collect toys.
Each generation has their own sector of some type of nerd of some entity.. Anime, comic books, star wars , star trek, etc...
You can go back Decades and see examples
Only difference now through social media, through lots of social acceptance of diff demographics of people, and with these companies getting smarter and creating more avenues to generate more money from things like conventions you now visibly seeing these demographics. A star war convention was more quieter and unknown to the general public decades ago with lack of social media now its out in the open more just like other entities.. So now these groups can now interact with their own elk in larger scale compared to prior decades.. Cult following has become the modern more acceptable thing

Information , income, and access plays apart also on why less black and Latin folks weren't in those clips.. Less funds, less/lack of internet back than, being able to go was another.. Also it was always more of them than us in general in that world.. But I have friends that were doing security, etc for yrs in those realms and they said we definitely had representation in there but it definitely has became more cause of things I said earlier, access, social media, more socially acceptable, more info, funds

I'm 45 and haven't had a new vid game system in probably 30 yrs and have never seen any episode of dragon ball z.. But I will say lots of dude in my age bracket and up more likely has some form of game system in their crib than watching dragon ball z.. Lots of dudes my age play sports games, shoot them ups, Fighting games, action/adventure.. Plus some have kids or younger/older adult children that play.. So I can imagine lots of cats probably have a ps5 than can name dragon ball z characters

You're not seeing the bigger picture.
The cats who are in their 40s and under most likely have young kids, and if they have sons, watching cartoons, playing video games, and watching sports that are still relevant and on air from the father's generation is a great way to bond with the kids. Also, watching anime periodically doesn't mean you aren't handling business or getting pussy.
I bond with my nephews/nieces this way.
If you become a dad, your tune might change on this.
DBZ is old as fuck tho. Niggas don't need to have kids to be familiar. It was on every afternoon when I got home from school 9-12 grade. I'm turning 43 next week.

Bruh, the first season of DBZ was hot when I was in college in the late 90s.
Cats were watching that diligently and that was at an HBCU.....getting pissed because it would be an episode of grunting and flashbacks.
