there are 4 black people in that cast..that represents a majority..usually a majority black cast project is termed a "black movie" or "black tv show".
Do you see FatF as a "black movie"

If anything, it's a mixed movie. The two main characters have always proudly represented their mixed heritage. True, the one-drop rule applies, but they seem to know about racism. They just choose mixed.

Man, shows where the cast love each other makes for a better show. Scrubs, Sirens, Friends. A few more. Just makes for a better feeling of what the audience looks for and makes it real.
generally a film thats marketed to black people is done mainly because it has a black majority cast...F&F has a black majority cast.
when a movie has a black majority cast its generally considered that its target demo would be black people.

and according to Slam this film as 4 brown/dark skin black people plus two mixed....whats the difference?
Yes I'll call it a black movie simply because Fast 2 was suppose to star Vin Hollywood at one time wanted to spank Vin for having a big ego when he had 3 major movies he was almost blacklisted. Hwood fucked up the franchise because they felt they didn't need that "loud mouth Brother"and made Paul the lead,and the third had neither of them. but he parlayed his money and took over the franchise and made money the way he wanted. Vin sees people as people hence his company one world (what he going to deny his Italian heritage) because peoples blood is more diverse than two colors.

Why are ya'll counting Vin Diesel? Ya'll don't even know what Vin Diesel is. HE don't even know what he is. He's never met his biological father. So he MIGHT have a drop of black.
Even then...out of his non Fast and Furious movies, how many black movies has Vin Diesel been in?

Call it a simplistic view, but it's still a series of films that glorifies being a criminal and the cast is primarily made up of minorities. I don't knock folks for enjoying them, they're just not for me.

I always looked at it as them adopting the Oceans franchise theme and not glorifying criminal activities.
Tyrese's character annoyed me in the 2nd but his character has shown growth and actually portrays him as a reformed criminal.
Isn't John Singleton the director? Black director, plus 3 (possibly 4 if you include Vin) Black actors = Black movie.
I don't think its simplistic..its just reality they ARE criminals..F&F and Ocean flicks are heist films therefore by definition the protagonist are usually criminals or have a criminal history..we want to over look it because they tend to write those characters as extremely likable and if you like someone you tend to overlook their sins...but theyre STILL sinners right?
don't forget paul walker was COP sent to bust vin diesels CRIME GANG..and so was the Rock if I'm not mistaken.

I just wanna examine what gets called a "Black" movie and what doesn't because "Black" movies are marketed and handled differently than action or thriller or drama even tho they contain those elements themselves.
So far it seems arbitrary but that arbitrary opinion is the basis of decisions on HOW and IF black cast films get made in the industry. basically you'll have some studio exec going THIS movie has gets overseas distribution and national marketing and THIS movie is for the negroes..based on what calculation exactly?

You have two black actors who are race neutral and two black actors. A stereotypical first Rican, a half Latin white woman, an Israeli woman and a white dude. Most of the actors are racially neutered, and Vin Diesel's father is black. He just plays that race neutral shit for Hollywood. That's why he can play an Italian dude in two different flicks and no one questions whether he is Italian or not. That is fine by me. White have been doing shit like that for years.

Its the blackest Hollywood blockbuster I've ever seen.
I have always theorized a majority of the men on here are white men. They just want to see some black snatch and care little four black culture. This is often confirmed by remarks like this. You craka jacks need to stfu when black grown folk are talking.
On topic, this movie franchise is followed by a majority black and Latino crowd and it has always surprised me there is not a latino main character. With Paul Walker and the Asian dude out of the picture all four of the leading male actors are black. While the production and directing team are hardly black majority from the cast alone this IS a black franchise movie, the and one of the highest grossing series of movies of all time.
