Is it better to fail a drug test or refuse to take one at work after smoking weed?

I know a dude who told the lady giving the piss test that he couldn't pee. He got fired. He later came in with a letter from a doctor saying he had a urinary track infection. But it didn't work, he still stayed fired.

So my question is it better to take the drug test knowing that you are going to fail or just flat out refuse to take it knowing you'll probably get fired anyway?

For like future jobs. So you can technically say you never failed a drug test and lie and say you never did drugs.

Either way you're going to lose your job. But I think it's better to tender your resignation so you can use your former employer as a reference than to get fired.
