"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing?... Then whence cometh evil... Is he neither able nor willing...
........ why call him God?"

.... Epicurus ancient Greek philosopher (341 BC, Samos – 270 BC, Athens)

Pretty interesting even though it is flawed.

God gave man free will. You have the will to do as you please. If God willed all of us to do nothing but good, then we would be living in Heaven and not here on earth. The bible says this is the Devil's world. In this vast universe, there are places that are better and much worse than what we deal with here on earth.

:hmm:

HNIC

Please create a GOD board for all the Athiests, Believers, Non-believers and Agnostics

I'm Jesus and I approve of this message.....

Also approved by the unethical mixing of God Religion and Pussy.

:hmm:

Nigga you on a porn board!!

If you have faith in God why question it here?

Exactly, these guys kill me looking for a religous debate on a poard board.

Anyway i'll bite somewhat. Good and evil are products of the greater good of free will.
If you want evil taken away, then free will must be taken away as well.

Bullshit.. We Read GOD GAVE MAN FREE WILL in one part of the Bible...
Then we see God getting Mad, throws a Hissy fit, then Kill man, then starting over for not following his Commandments. The Bible even says GOD killed a Man for not NUTTING UP in a BITCH and spilling his SPERM on the floor. WTF?

The Biblical Concept of God does not exist.

God is real. He has given me many blessings. The more I trust him to be in my life, the more blessings I have received. That's all I'm going to say because this is a porn board.

Here's a question for You. Why would GOD whom is perfect and all knowing, all powerful allow a subordinate angel(SATAN)to punk him and destroy and meddle in his perfect creation? (THE EARTH & MANKIND)

positive can't exist without a negative. it's not that deep.

First throw out 75% your read from the bible, then you have to throw away your concept of whats good and whats bad and think in terms of balanced vs unbalanced, then you will find your answer!

Interesting...please explain this further...I am currently having a hard time with the concept of God...all the time, I see people who are assholes live well, and are happy, while people who are truly good people get fucked over constantly...this is why I truly believe that God, if He exists, has a list of those who He chooses to help, and those He chooses to curse...how you get on either side of this ledger, I do not know, but the way I've seen good people get hurt, it's almost like it's arbitrary...:dunno:

Angels also have free will. God did not ALLOW anything. Satan chose his course and he has had no problem recruiting those who choose to do his bidding. The bible also speaks of heaven and hell. Here on earth heaven and hell are just states of mind. How you choose to use your free will determines whose house you will dwell in.

Sure he ALLOWED it. The Earth & Mankind are supposed to be GOD'S perfect creation right? Satan was an angel. Why would God allow and Angel who is not on his level to create all the pain, strife and suffering in the world, hence fucking up His PERFECT CREATION? If You built something to perfection, would You allow someone else to come in and fuck it up and spoil it? Think about that!

He has the power to prevent Evil but he is merciful, loving, benevolent and long suffering.

Else he would have destroyed our evil asses a long time ago. LOL

There is a formula for success that works regardless if you are a believer or not. You could break it down to a combination of faith plus works. If you study how most people become successful you will often see this pattern.

Just because someone is successful finacially doesn't mean they are spiritually. You never know...besides Satan could be helping those people just so you can doubt God..

Ok let me see if i can explain it with out getting too deep. Ok in this country, when we see a person that is doing something bad, we label them as evil or bad, but instead of viewing them as good or bad, we should view them as being balanced or unbalanced.
Everything in the universe follows the law of balance and harmony, a ying and a yang, one isn't good and the other isn't bad, its the being unbalanced that causes behavior that we call good and bad!
Now getting back to people who we often labeled as bad, it is most likely something in their environment that is causing them to be imbalanced, greed is a common culprit but there are others such as fear, hurt, guilt and vanity.
A person's imbalance may be due to a chemical imbalance, drugs, hormones, or even diet.
By accepting the concept of a balance universe vs one of good and evil, we are able to look for the true root of a persons behavior, rather than believing that there are invisible forces that are causing people to act fucked up!

Explain how it's flawed...

A couple of things. This is a philosophical question that is based around the concept of god and his powers. Not questioning if god exist. I understand lots of people fear that concept but you guys need to relax. If you don't like threads like this stay out. I never seen so many whining dudes on the internet. :smh:
Another thing is that I said it was flawed because he statements are leading you to one conclusion for each question. It could be a very different reason why in this part "Is he able, but not willing?" than him being "malevolent". It could be because he is indifferent, or he wasn't aware, he does care but the evil is a part of his plan. Who knows, but instead of asking he answers. To me since he doesn't factor in the fact he is making an assessment on some being he does even truly understand he assumption are extremely flawed.

Last thing is I didn't post the entire text. It is not posted below.

"You see, therefore, that we have greater need of wisdom on account of evils; and unless these things had been proposed to us, we should not be a rational animal. But if this account is true, which the Stoics were in no manner able to see, that argument also of Epicurus is done away. God, he says, either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or He is able, and is unwilling; or He is neither willing nor able, or He is both willing and able. If He is willing and is unable, He is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God; if He is able and unwilling, He is envious, which is equally at variance with God; if He is neither willing nor able, He is both envious and feeble, and therefore not God; if He is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils? or why does He not remove them? I know that many of the philosophers, who defend providence, are accustomed to be disturbed by this argument, and are almost driven against their will to admit that God takes no interest in anything, which Epicurus especially aims at; but having examined the matter, we easily do away with this formidable argument. For God is able to do whatever He wishes, and there is no weakness or envy in God. He is able, therefore, to take away evils; but He does not wish to do so, and yet He is not on that account envious. For on this account He does not take them away, because He at the same time gives wisdom, as I have shown; and there is more of goodness and pleasure in wisdom than of annoyance in evils. For wisdom causes us even to know God, and by that knowledge to attain to immortality, which is the chief good. Therefore, unless we first know evil, we shall be unable to know good. But Epicurus did not see this, nor did any other, that if evils are taken away, wisdom is in like manner taken away; and that no traces of virtue remain in man, the nature of which consists in enduring and overcoming the bitterness of evils. And thus, for the sake of a slight gain in the taking away of evils, we should be deprived of a good, which is very great, and true, and peculiar to us. It is plain, therefore, that all things are proposed for the sake of man, as well evils as also goods."

There is no such thing as perfection. Do you really believe that anything in this world is perfect? God created the human race, but you still have people born with birth defects. Everything is flawed. With free will comes temptation hence the serpent. If God really expected this world to be perfect we would never have been given free will. You may be able to build what you perceive to be the perfect home, but you cannot control how perfectly those who reside in it will behave.

The only problem I have with these two viewpoints is that some of the people who do believe are the ones who are hurt the most, and there are many who believe (speak about God, praying, going to church, etc.), yet do foul shit and still get over...just like there are those that don't believe and get over as well...because of this "unbalance", I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the concept of a "good" God...and this is also the reason why I don't go to church...

Ok but your responses are FAR more flawed than his assumptions...

If god is indifferent then why the fuck should any of us worship god? Indifferent means god doesn't care.

If god isn't aware, then he isn't omniscient & omnipresent.

If god uses evil as a part of his plan then what's wrong with anyone doing evil? God has planned for folx to do evil correct? In fact, if it's a part of gods plan then individuals are compelled to do evil since they can't behave in a way that would contradict god's plan.

It may seem like they are getting over, but they are not! Cause in order to want to create imbalance you too must be imbalanced, and that in it self makes you fucked up towards yourself. I am a spiritual being not a religious person, but I can tell you this, the ones who comes closet to understanding this concept are the Buddist.

So since there is no such thing as perfection, then that means GOD is not perfect then right?
