Can't take nothing away from him but the only negative in my opinion in calling him the greatest is that you could always tell a Babyface song whomever he wrote it for.
Always puzzled me how someone uses the music of their supposedly native land as a trolling tool....to each his own I guessWho you got in this R&B shit?
Respect to another legend! I guess I should’ve clarified the era better. I was thinking more contemporary.
I mean, 80s through the 90s and early 2000s
Crazy
There were songs in that medley I couldn’t believe he wrote, shit is wild. He’s too powerful lol.
Lmao, the funny shit is I fux with African music but dude’s approach is so off-putting. Calm down @Nzinga
I don't even think Prince's catalog is this deep with songs he wrote for other artists. But a lot of his can't be classified as R&B.
Prince not having a “Deep” catalog?
Prince has 39 studio albums, 39.
Let me say it again. Prince has 39 studio albums.
And I don’t classify Prince, he was all music in one.
39 studio albums, I had to say it again so that you don’t ever question the depth of Prince’s catalog.
Let me re-quote myself with emphasis added where necessary:
"I don't even think Prince's catalog is this deep with songs he wrote for other artists. But a lot of his can't be classified as R&B."
Surprised this on page two. Was my immediate answer too!Stevie Wonder.

I am perhaps the biggest Prince fan ever and I have to cosign what VAiz4hustlaz has said. Prince has an extensive catalog of Hits, but he really isnt categorized as R&B. Prince is music. All music. All genres. He is definitely one of the greatest song writers ever, but I couldnt/wouldnt limit him or define him as R&B. That is no disrespect to THE GOAT at all.Hey man I guess

Maybe it takes people of a certain age. Babyface has timeless classics. But Stevie has timeless classics to the tenth power AND almost all of them he wrote himself- as opposed to Babyface who had a songwriting partner (L.A. Reid) for most of his biggest hits.Surprised this on page two. Was my immediate answer too!
Maybe in the 90s when the LaFace sound had developed, but not those early ones.
