Iphone or Galaxy.. What's the final verdict?

All a matter of preference but I don't think I'll ever go back to an iPhone. Way too restricted without being jail broken for me. And I hate how they bullshit people with having to buy a new phone for features that have been out for years...IE wireless charging. How do you still not have that standard by now? Kinda ridiculous really.

Im rolling with samsung. Simply because I dont have to jump through hoops. To add music to my phone.

On my iPhone, I used the Puffin browser to go to YouTube (requested the desktop version). Then I did the rest of what you said. I couldn't save it directly to the phone. But I was able to save the mp3 to dropbox and play it from there. Good to know that can be done.

Glad it helped. If there is a Mega.nz app for IOS you might want to check it out. 50gb f0r free and there is no file size limit. You can play music and videos from it as well.
