Inside C.C.Sabathia Contract's Perks, etc..........

C.C.Sabathia'a starting to feel "at home" in Gotham, and should live-up to all 'expectations!!

According to the New York Yankee 'LoHud Blog', his contract--while not unigue--is pretty impressive,i.e.,

Salary: $14M (2009)

Signing bonus:$9M/paid in 3-installments(12/31;3/1;7/31)

2010-2015 salaries: $23M

PERKS:(Yankees usually don't pay 'perks' on season accom-
plishments,e.g., all-star selection, MVP, Cy Young, etc). Her gets his own suite on road trips; has a "no trade" clause; salary is to be paid semi-monthly throughout the year. Most players usually get salary ONLY during the season.

His wife and kids seem to be happy. Plus, his wife and Johnny Damon's spouse are very close friends. They both love to shop at Sak's....and plan on doing plenty of it.

Sabathia plans on reporting to Spring training well under his reported 300+ lbs. girth. His choice! If it affects his pitching power, expect the weight to be placed back.

The "opt out" clause that comes into play after the the third-year was actually suggested by Yankee G.M., Brian Cashman, as another 'inducement' to get Sabathia's services. It also served to stressed just how 'serious' the Yankees wanted him.

A.J. Burnett
(Free agent signing #2)

Salary: $14.7M (4-years) with a "no trade" clause.

A very good convincing point was his wife's feelings. They live in Maryland, and she hates to 'fly', and preferred staying East.
