So going by his assessment...if the criteria for being included in the "Circle Of WE", the dividing line is BLACK VS NONBLACK then the only conclusion one can come to is that those classified as part of the BLACK side can never be a part of the CIRCLE OF WE and that's where your treated and viewed as assimilated in society and therefore a true American citizen. What does that mean? By virtue of the skin color designation, BLACK...those who are identified as such can never be Americans.
It would explain why the Civil War and more importantly the Civil Rights Struggle went the way it did. The Civil War should have solved that issue once slavery was abolished... but literally 100 years later Blacks had to fight and laws enacted or struck down just to be treated as American citizens. What laws had to be created or struck down to deal with non-designated Black people in our society?
It would explain the disparages and different treatment Blacks have experienced in the penal system, education, housing, medical and employment areas.
It would explain why when given the choice other ethnic groups side or designate as White whenever possible.
The reality is there are no such thing as Black Americans... there are only Black people in America.
