If you've never seen barnacles being scraped off a ship..

wtf.png
Can't we clean, season, batter, and fry that?

From wiki:

"The flesh of some barnacles is routinely consumed by humans, including Japanese goose barnacles (e.g. Capitulum mitella), and goose barnacles (e.g. Pollicipes pollicipes) are a delicacy in Spain and Portugal as well. The Chilean giant barnacle Austromegabalanus psittacus is fished, or overfished, in commercial quantities on the Chilean coast, where it is known as the picoroco."

No surprise Japanese eat them. They eat damn near anything out the sea.

Edit: The ones scraped off sides of ships are not edible.
