Whether I take it through force or drugs or coercion, rape is by it's nature a case of one party exerting it's power over another, not any differently than a robbery: taking from someone else what they choose not to give.
Some things can be very complex and complicated and deserve deep analysis, rape isn't one. It's pretty simple.

No, it's not. You can find someone, same/opposite sex, attractive and if it's mutual and you get it popping, everybody's good. But once you take it, it's an act of exerting your power over someone to take what they won't give, raping them. No grey area. Once you commit the act, all grey goes away.
Rape isn't about horny. There are any number of ways horny people get off every day witout raping anyone. The fact that a rapist needs a weaker victim makes it about power, whether physical, mental or financial. There aren't any different motivations once the act is committed. Once you cross that line, it's very clear who and what you are: a rapist, a small man.

I find that disheartening. While I believe that the scenario may be basic prima facie, this seems to be biology and sociology in a microcosm. Two people, one objective, different mindsets and motivations possibly attempting to walk the same path. It could be a beautiful thing actually. This, like every other aspect of life, is only what we make it.
