If you were going back to school and needed to work part time what job would you do temporarily?

Why not just skip paying all that money to go back to school and get you one of them part time jobs that's paying $21/hr mim wage?:dunno:

I would get something that will pay the bills, but I would try some entrepreneurial shit. Might get rich off the net, never know. Resell textbooks, and books in general. I would find something I could resell for more money. Build that shit until that shit could support me. About to do that shit right now. LOL Man, if the internet was like this when I was in college, it would be on.

Back in HS and college days was doing landscaping and lawn mowing gigs. Worked out well being able to set your own hours and rates of pay per job, or challenging clients. Good workout too. Some clients in the neighborhood and the furthest ones were a mere 15 - 20 mins away tops. Also worked PT at a pharmacy / drug store. Stock clerk and deliveries to seniors.

I see people stuck at low paying jobs and I don’t want to do that. Time goes by fast if you stay too low.

Try a restaurant since you will mostly work in the evenings. Very few restaurants have heavy lunch staff. You can go to the school in the day.

I am going to tell you, about 10 years ago we reach the tipping point where it is more degrees than degreed jobs. Choose wisely and align yourself with a professional organization of your major, school based or non school based.

I need a change I can’t do this anymore
I’m going crazy. My mind is gone and face is old from depression and stress

Words come to worst I’ll live in the car. I can’t do these 40 hour plus gas and travel for anything under 20 a hour. Just can’t do it.

What kind of work are you doing presently? Good thread discussion, everyone.

Camera monitoring, I just stare at cameras and write reports all day.

Gotcha.

Question - do you have any friends or acquaintances with leads on jobs or careers that you might want to get into?

That's a good way to branch away possibly. A couple of friends from my college years did that after being in our field for awhile. They wanted to change things up.

Most my friends are bums, I don't deal with them mostly...

I'm gonna have to hustle this degree and do some part-time work until something comes along, I have a history of working shitty jobs that I cant put on my resume much. I fucked up for years doing dumb shit now I'm fixing it at an older age but I stay positive.

Definitely stick with it and stay positive, as you said. Stay optimistic and hopeful.

Once you find the work you enjoy, it'll be more focused and motivating.

I remember one of my lowest points ... early-2000s. Was kind of aimless with my career focus. Wasn't doing well in school and didn't have much to my name. Spending money I didn't have on electronics and having fun. Was driving home one evening and saw a "Now Hiring" sign at a pizza place. Thought I'd stop in and say hi - talk to the manager about applying. Thought I could be a pizza delivery guy (shitty old car). Hell - never heard back. Took a look in the mirror and thought "What the fuck are you doing? You've got a few years of college to your name. You haven't found the right program or focus just yet ... c'mon man ... stop wasting time"

Mom talked some sense into me. Told me I was going to end up a career student unless I zoned in. Said she knew some people who worked in the field I could potentially go in ... and to stop in there for a tour. Offer to volunteer at another location they were at. Just to get my feet in the door and prove myself. Did that ... and eventually I got in as an oncall staff member before I was able to get certified in my field. Got to work different shifts. Days, afternoons, nights, weekends. Whatever. Find out if it was for me. Did that - went back to school & was more motivated. Got everything in order. Haven't looked back. Stuck with it since 2003 onward, and with main organization since 2004.

Glad I did.

Just needed that kick in the pants from her to focus. My brother partied and bullshit and barely graduated HS. Got into working in restaurant kitchens for a number of years. Locally and in neighboring provinces. He went back to school in his early-30s and took a carpentry program. He's been working for a small business in his city for about 8 years. His boss is cool & his wife runs the business/payroll end of things for their company. My bro noted he could probably work elsewhere and get paid more, but he enjoys the company & atmosphere and is comfortable with how things have played out.

Hell ... looking back - someone was cutting onions when I had that talk in the mirror. If I'm not able to deliver pizzas, then what the fuck? And further onions being chopped when I glanced at my bank statement and knew my budgeting was on some bullshit.

:cheers::giggle:

Depends on how old you are, what your resume looks like, where you're located and how much time outside of class you have. Once you lay all those out it will be easier to answer the question.
This!!

It also depends if you have college credits already and what degree you are looking to attain. If your direction is STEM, then there are quite a few paths for easy money while in school.

Throw parties, middleman of pussy sells, bootleg liqs to them college kids, sell weed, find a marketable product and hustle it to them college kids.. I’m breaking those lil nigs pockets especially if their cacs
