If the Star Wars Prequels were done properly and how future sequels should go - Ep. I

Re: If the Star Wars Prequels were done properly and how future sequels should go - E

In addition I made a number of changes to characters. One is, there's more than two Sith. Count Dooku, General Grievous along with Darth Maul and Palpatine are all Sith who are working together to destroy the Jedi and re-emerge as the dominant Force Order. I always thought the "Rule of two" was ridiculous. In the original version Palpatine/Sidious has to pull all kinds of strings that just stretches credibility too far to me. This guy not only is working both sides of the fence but has quite a number of people doing shit on his behalf for no obvious reason.

c/s all of this.

The main reason I did my own rewrite of the prequels was inspired by the two YouTube videos WHAT IF STAR WARS EPISODE WERE GOOD by Belated Media. Their take on the film (they rewrote the first two) was interesting the first time I watched it. But after seeing again, I noticed they had their own flaws. And they made one huge one that painted them in a corner as far as I could see. They decided that their prequels would focus on Obi-Wan as the main character while keeping Anakin as an over-arching storyline.

& this. Keep the focus on the Skywalker clan.

Overall, I believe you have a superior approach than I've seen before. Like one of the comments said, you only need to flesh things out a bit. Your writeup reads more like an outline.

One thing that would have been nice in episode 1 was one of the Jedi telling a story of how a cadre of Sith were defeated in the past while showing a cut away scene to 10+ Sith battling Jedi and the colossal destruction it took to defeat them. Show whole worlds burning. Again the rule of 2 was horrible. They could have mentioned Darth Plagueis (another cut away scene) or showed many themes/scenes from the Old Republic as they're presented in video games and books. Episode 1 could have really been bad ass if they did this. Then the audience would realize the gravity of why the Sith must be stopped from gaining power once again.

Edit: Lucas should have opened the movie with that Old Republic shit then cut to Anakin walking and listening to Obi-wan or Qui-Gon telling him the story.

Lastly, Darth Maul's face always seemed like cheap Halloween makeup in the prequels.

1. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for reading the entire article...you have know idea how often that DOESN'T happen..usually people just read an excerpt then post based on a small portion of something they HALF READ..so thank you its much appreciated.

2. As far as fleshing it out I was trying to do it scene synopsis form the way the belated media guys did theirs since alot of people liked their approach. So scenes tend to be consolidated into short paragraphs so Clones (when the art work is done) will be the same way but the next two stories after that (yes TWO my prequels aren't a trilogy there was too much info to get across for just 3 films) will be more detailed since its info departing totally from the originals.

3. the flashback you mentioned is the other problem I had in writing the stories. I'll detail it future articles but Lucas doesn't use conventions like flashbacks and flash forwards in the saga. He's going by how the scifi serials of his youth (flash gordon and buck rogers) were done and those serials didn't use too many story telling conventions they were pretty much straight forward moving tales. Suffice it to say it was VERY CONFINING telling a story that way.

Ok the synopsis approach I get. Definitely post whatever you come up with next. Maybe some of these bgol animators and film makers can assist you in creating a YouTube video as well.

I would do that but its too much of a production to get done...I would need around 2-3 sketch illustrations per scene and even tho the sketches you saw were simple its still a commitment for most artist of any good skill level and I had a hard enough time getting done what I got done:lol: writing the stories took a couple of weeks...getting artists to the sketches and poster took 4 months.

In the movies, no. In the books and video games there is mention of some of the hidden Sith Holocrons that teach the Sith how to use the Force to reduce their signature and hide their power from other Force Sensitive beings.

Holocron - Think about the crystals that Ja' Rel left Superman to teach him about their home world and his responsibilities to Earth. The Sith used this kind of thing though it looked like the hologram message system you see throughout all the movies.

Someone posted a fanfic movie here some weeks ago that had a perfect example.

Cool. Thanks.

This guy breaks everything down and makes a whole new movie that I would pay to see.

Shit makes me angry at how sweet the prequels could have been

These make way more sense and make a much better series!

not really:smh::rolleyes::smh:

wow dude did you even bother to read my version?

also those videos are part of the reason I even did my own fanfic version...those guys version is NOT VERY GOOD either when you really think about it:smh:

why?

MISTAKE 1. They make it Obi-Wan's story and not Anakin

MISTAKE 2. Their version of the trade federation rift carries just as much weight and screen time in Phantom as Lucas's original when it shouldn't since no one really cares about that stuff.

MISTAKE 3. They fail to foreshadow Anakin's darkside at any point in the first two stories. He's a cheery, happy go lucky kid for the first two films

MISTAKE 4. They don't even begin to have Anakin and Padme start to be attracted to each other until really late in Clones

Which means by the time we get to Revenge of the Sith they have to...

Develop and show the rift between Anakin and Obi-Wan
Show Anakins issues with the Jedi Order
Have him and Padme hook up and have her get pregnant
Show some kind of relationship with Palpatine/Sidious
Blow up the relationship between him and Obi-Wan and jedi
Have Padme have kids and kill her off

And all of this has to happen in the 9 months or so he knocks her up and she delivers twins.

Those vids are two years old...ever wonder why they haven't done the third vid even tho people are begging them to?? Cuz they painted themselves in a corner and can't resolve all those issues in one movie...:smh:
