DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The knocks and cries in a video of a man and girl on a screened in porch in Decatur has gone viral, catching the eyes of hundreds of thousands of people. It's leaving everyone wondering…what happened?

The video was captured on a security camera near Cantrell and South 16th Streets on Sunday night. You can see a man grabbing the child as she is knocking on the door, begging for help and screaming "No."

Decatur Police said they responded to the situation shown in the video, and are continuing to investigate the situation.

The homeowner, Kiara Bond, said the screen door to get into the porch locks automatically.
So, the little girl would've had to rip the door open to get inside the porch.

While it's still very early on in the investigation, police were able to share that the girl knows the man, and he is not a stranger to her. Most importantly, police said the girl is safe and they have a plan in place to keep it that way.

Bond was not home at the time the incident happened, but she got notifications there was activity on her porch. She said that she didn't know the man or the little girl, but that didn't make her feel any less fearful after seeing what was on her doorbell camera.

"What if something would've happened to this baby? What if anything would've happened to her? If she was abused or not, we would've never known. We don't live in their household. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. All I know is a baby showed up to my door frantic, scared, pleading… and a man came and snatched her off. You saw what you saw in the video, and that's what happened," Bond said.

Illinois DCFS said that they're also investigating this case and working with law enforcement, but weren't able to share further details.

Decatur Police said they will release updated information as the case progresses.

Some people come out of jail and vow to themselves they'll never go back. They stay on a very narrow path and avoid attention. If you do 21 years in the can, there's no hope for any sort of rehabilitation. I wonder if the child's mother knew this and took the risk anyway...Our women need to stay away from these hardened criminals... I hope the young girl is removed from that house.
