If Obama is another Bush, why are we starting to pull out of Iraq

The troops are pulling out of Iraq as a part a deal Bush signed before leaving office. In the meantime Obama's doubled up on troops in Afghanistan. Either way the troops are not coming home and will stay at war. Same thing, different place. 6 of one, 1/2 dozen the other.

Exactly .... and in the meantime the bloodshed of many innocent civilians will continue along with many more soldiers coming home in body bags while no great aim will be achieved other than killing more people to create more hate and enemies (on both sides ).

This has got to be one of the most pointless and stupid war in history with no benefit to anyone ( well, except the arms manufacturers and the oil executives ).

It's pretty apparent that if Bush was still president we wouldn't be leaving Iraq.

In fact Darth Cheney opened his mouth a day or so ago to criticize Obama for pulling the troops out of the Iraqi cities, which is an indication that it wouldn't have happened under the Bush administration, no matter what agreement was "signed."

lol... ok. Well, just for shits and giggles, we should probably keep an eye on Obama's secret undeclared war in Pakistan, too. Just saying.

Obama letting us continue to conduct operations in Pakistan is no secret. We've been in the Hindu-Kush since 2001. With the agreement of the Pakistani Government.

There is no "secret undeclared war" in Pakistan. Go back to watching Jason Bourne.

Also BUSH didn't sign anythin to start the move of forces out of Iraq. That was ALL OBAMA. Being as I was sitting here in Baghdad when it happened, i would say I'm a pretty good source.

Don't matter anyway, we're not out of the city. I am sitting in Baghdad as I type this. Today is however the first day we are NOT SUPPOSED to be in the city, and appropriate action will be taken to reduce our visibility.

I would like to collect the extra money, but I think we'll be going home sooner than i am planning for.

Cheney also criticized Obama for releasing Gitmo prisoners, despite the fact that Bush and he had released very many themselves. What Cheney says while trying to play spoiler for Obama and what he actually did under Bush is often quite contradictory. This case being no exception.

Obviously, the fact that I'm talking and posting an embedded news broadcast about it, you should be able to gather the term 'secret' is nuanced, not literal, genius.

I would say my younger brother, my second cousin, best friend since high school and a list of associates in Iraq & Afghanistan for the past 6 years are 'pretty good' sources too, b. As for Bush having nothing to do with the recent US troop withdrawals, that sparked this thread in the first place...

With U.S. Pullout, Iraq Takes Ownership of Its War

The decision to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq's cities on June 30 was made by Iraqis, not Americans. That's why the Iraqi government is holding a massive celebration to mark the redeployment as National Sovereignty Day. At the insistence of Iraqis, the Status of Forces Agreement, which was concluded late last year between the Iraqi government and the Bush Administration, required that U.S. troops be out of Iraq's urban areas by June 30, 2009, and withdrawn from the country altogether by the end of 2011

Good, at least more of your catz will be coming home alive and in one piece. That can only be great for not only for yourselves but also for your families and loved ones.

Stay safe and Jah guide ...

Pretty much resolves that low standard ass question.

There are many areas to point to that illustrate difference between Bush administration policies and Obama adminsitration policies... Iraq ain't one of them.

Comparing him to Bush is idiotic, though, because even in that area, he would not have gotten the country into the mess that Bush did. However, the question here deals with resolution of the mess and that doesn't illustrate difference.

So..... How many troops have left Iraq? Zero.

Quit falling for PR and corporate news designed to keep you all retarded.

Obama is keeping the permanent bases, so this thread is based on a faulty premise.

Anyway ask the relatives of the many innocent people being bombed and killed all over Afghanistan and in Pakistan about how un-Bushlike Obama is.

True. This, like most things, is a leftover from the previous Administration. But, Bush only started moving towards leaving Iraq as Obama's campaign started gaining momentum. He was previously against a timeline of any kind until Obama was the Democratic primary presumed winner.

get it straight. the US not pulling out of iraq. what is being done is to move out of the cities into bases.

the US will never leave Iraq unless forced. the plan is to have permanent bases there, thats why theres been such a huge amount of money spent building facilities. you think the bases and embassy are being built so muqtada can have a nice new base of operations?

It's been said that Cheney isn't really fighting Obama as much as he's fighting Bush since the policy decisions he's attacking and saying make us less safe are really things instituted by Bush, not Obama.

Believe that shit if you want. Bush's SOFA agreement became trash the minute the GOI decided to do it's own thing. Obama's guys had to handle that one again in closed door meetings rather quickly. That will NOT be on the news. Obviously, your sources don't move in the circles that I do.

The only thing that stay relevant was us moving out of the cities by YESTERDAY, but then again I am sitting in :)hmm;) Baghdad.

Anyway....

In the meantime Obama's doubled up on troops in Afghanistan.

The funny thing here is you all wanting to compare the numbers. On any given day, the Stan will never have as many people there as Iraq. So even with the Iraq drawing down and Afghanistan surging they still currently only have HALF OF THE TROOP strength Iraq has now.

We had more people in Bosnia in 1995 crossing the Sava River.

People get news everywhere. You could still gather the term "secret" as being "unconfirmed" by official U.S. Sources, "genius". The fact is, we are there and will operate there in whatever capacity CENTCOM sees fit. Pakistan will not attempt to stop us; they like the money too much.

Always remember, there is a difference between being here and getting the information through the right "read on's" and actual experience, than watching the news and mixing gossip from friends to come to lacking (though not completely assinine) conclusions.

Afghanistan has become more of a breeding ground and terrorist hot bed over the past couple of years, because of the attention paid to Iraq.

Whether my sources move in the circles you do or not is irrelevant. Not even top official reports all concur with one another. So you having different intel doesn't mean you have more accurate intel.

Ok, and my brother is still in Baghdad too. When he leaves there, he's not coming home (except for a 2 week furlough). Then he's being shipped to Afghanistan. My point is, based on the OP's question, the war in Iraq is not exactly Obama's greatest contrast from Bush. There are many contrasts between them. But so far Afghanistan, Pakistan ad Iraq are not among those great contrasts. Your point is what?

It's not all about US troop deaths and injuries.

People get news everywhere. You could still gather the term "secret" as being "unconfirmed" by official U.S. Sources, "genius". The fact is, we are there and will operate there in whatever capacity CENTCOM sees fit. Pakistan will not attempt to stop us; they like the money too much.
Why would you surmise that 'secret' meant unconfirmed by US sources when it says right there in the video I posted that teh conflicts have been confirmed by US sources? Pride is a bitch ain't it? And that last "we are there and will operate there in whatever capacity" bit is just too Bushy to even bother replying to. :hmm:

Fam, we don't know for sure that YOU are who/what you say you are. I have no reason to trust some character on a porn board more than my own family and friends whom I know for a fact are there and have been from day one. It's laughable that you can't see the silliness of assuming anyone should grant you any credibility at all... on a porn forum board. lol... Inhale, exhale and remember: Just like I'm just some person on the internet speaking my piece... so are you.

anyone saying the Iraq war is the same as Afghanistan is on some bullshit.

Iraq was wrong from start to finish, at least there is a legit reason to be in Afghanistan.
